Love your videos man. I have a 1988 jeep YJ that I'm going to completely rewire myself. It's the old 4.2 carbureted engine. Would you entertain doing a video about how to plan out a wiring harness? Which items to put on each circuit, what to run on relays vs just a fuse, wire types you'd recommend etc?
Thank you! I’m thrilled that people watch this stuff! It’s funny because I made one wiring video years ago and it really got a lot of traction, which kind of sent me down this path of helping people understand automotive wiring. My old videos working on old cars never got any views. And now here we are! Lol.
yes, bc the “smart(ass) engineers” who made these car thought “that’s easy, now make it difficult and awful to work on” which is why I still use my buddy to fix something as “simple” as a fuse or sum shite lol
Thank you so much for making all of these videos I know nothing about wiring and the old truck that I have the wiring that is in it is just so absolutely terrible. In order to get the blinkers to come on you have to press the hazard button and you don’t have hazard lights when you turn the headlight on the windshield wiper works.😂 it has been nothing short of a nightmare and it’s been six years and I’ve been trying to fix all that until I came across your videos. I’m going to literally use one of these switch panels to completely rewire every single thing on that truck. The lights, the horn, the windshield wiper even a push button start. Every single thing will be operated off of one of these.
Man.....your videos are truly my favorite. Out of everything on UA-cam, nobody is more informational than you. I wish I could get you to help me with my truck build..... You're awesome bro!
Wow! I really appreciate that! Thank you so much! If you like these videos and project cars, you may enjoy my other channel too! ua-cam.com/video/39-eqqDrGzQ/v-deo.html
Thank you so much for all of the time and energy you put into your videos. I won't' go into all of your great points as a creator but you are very talented. I build my own harnesses for my projects, mostly older Jeeps. I do everything with relays and switching to ground as possible to keep things simple. I have learned so much from you, I really appreciate your expertise. This system looks like a great innovation. So time saving and "cool" besides. I have already signed up for their notices. I will definitely try it on my next project. Thank you, sir.
Thank you so much for the kind words! I’m glad that so many people find these videos helpful! Anytime I can help keep a cool vehicle going, it makes me feel good! Thanks for watching!
Haha! The end got really interesting and fun, and that zombie fuse was something I have never seen before, and may never see again! Thanks for watching! I appreciate it!
Thank you so much for the interesting experiment and informative video. The SwitchPro recommends the use of relays for motors and other equipment where inductive loads are expected. I guess they are concerned about the inrush current duration and back EMF of an inductive load damaging the MOSFETs. I am also trying to simplify my car wiring with gang switches, but keep adding relays to the schematic!
At 4:20, if the output provides constant + and switches the -, then it is not a "negative trigger" system. The trigger is what the switch (pushbutton) does when hit, and that does not matter to us. Using a relay to now switch the OUTPUT to cut the positive is not changing to a different "trigger". Otherwise, great explanation.
Another great video! Thank you for putting in the effort to make it easy to understand the process of making a system like this work to it's potential. 🤘😁👍
I’m glad that you enjoyed it! It really is a pretty neat switch, and adding LED light bars to it (like everyone else) seemed way too boring. So I had to add some excitement!
I have a similar setup on my full drift car, my battery kept draining i just figured the battery was needing to be replaced. after watching this video it makes sense, this device is constantly trying to send 12v to whatever device you have connected. the car sits in my garage and doesn't get turned on for a couple weeks at a time, i added circuit breakers near the battery so i can isolate the battery during storage and havent had an issue.
This video is fantastic! It would be great if you could do an updated version with the newer positively switched 12 gang switch panel using exactly the same components minus the relay for the starter. I’m planning to wire my drift car up similarly 🤞
I really enjoy your videos and they’ve helped me troubleshoot a lot of issues with my vehicles, would you consider making a video about radio/stereo systems in the future?
Dude I love your content man. I've been coming up with a system for my ebike. Quick and easy. And I love these videos for all I e learned on 12v vehicle wiring. Thank you
Love the video I was curious on how you would set up the side mirrors on wiring I think that would be a great video I have an idea but was curious if you had a easier with less wiring way
Good question! I actually review some of the common pros and cons in this video :) ua-cam.com/video/QCkfFCLa_Jg/v-deo.html. Check it out when you have a moment!
a 'CHALLENGE'!: Show a way to trigger an accessory at any preset RPM. It has to be adjustable. Has to have a range between 1,000 to 5,000rpm (or higher). Has to work with a 12 volt system. Has to be able to at least handle up to 30 amps. When below the selected rpm it should shut off and when at or above the set rpm it should allow power to pass to any desired accessory.
lets say you are powering your headlights and have a 30a fuse. you are taking power directly from the battery which is significantly more amps. the wire from the battery to the fuse is getting x amount of amps and only letting 30 through to the lights. does the battery to fuse wire overheat?
I’ve been watching a lot of these wiring videos and they are great, could you do one on how to wiring warning lights for things like oil pressure or alternator?
I need a video on re-gearing a 3rd gen Tacoma with 4.88 Nitro Gears......You have helped in all my other problems...Maybe I should just bring you my truck
Great video, I like how you use this for something other than lights. I'm trying to figure out how to wire a "1 button turns everything on". I'm assuming a diode or 8 would be involved. TIA.
This is great. Thanks. Question... wiring for an electric go-kart, running a separate 12v battery to run accessories. Can I put a 6 fuse fuse box on a 12v 6Ah stand alone battery to run multiple lights?
Amazing video, so go I actually bought one for the build of my race car. I do have a question though.....I was intending to wire my car with 7 core trailer wire. My question is this, do I need to ground everything through the fuse box or can I ground (for example) the rear lights grounded to the body and the live into the fuel box will it still work or do I need to run a ground back to the fuse box for every circuit? Thanks
Unfortunately, the way that this box is designed, you have to run the ground for each circuit, because the ground is the actual trigger wire. You can swap the triggers from negative to positive, as I did with the starter in this video, but it would be a lot of extra wires if you have to do that for every circuit!
Question for the starter circuit. Or others wired the same. As the two positives to the relay share the fuse. But the earth's go to different places. Does the fuse still apply to both the circuit to the relay and the other side of the relay. Meaning there is no need for a fuse on the other circuit? I hope that makes sense. Reading up a circuit should have a fuse on both sides of a relay but in this case the fuse is being shared as both positive feeds are from the same starting point. I'm doing a kit car which is negative earth and as such due to that I need 7 relays. Shame. But I like the switchgear.
Awesome video 👍. My light bar (420W on 12V) needs a 35 amp fuse, but the switch panel has a max of 30 amps only. The original wire harness came with a 40 amp relay. If I hooked the 40 amp relay with the switch panel, would it work? How would the wiring be done in this case. Your guidance would be most appreciated. 🙏
@WiringRescue I just wanted to take a moment to not only thank you for all of your informational videos but also to pose a question for you as well. I'm in the process of restoring an 86 Mustang which your videos have helped immensely with however the blower motor resistor according to my mechanic is the only thing stopping my heating system from working and we have been unable to find the replacement part since the company that made it no longer produces it. Is there a simple fix that I am not seeing or do I really need to replace the entire system? Thank you!
Hi Thanks for the video it has been very helpful! Do you have a video that explains how to set up a fan on one of these switch panels using a relay? Or is there no need to? My fan is alot larger and been told it could overheat the wiring
Hi I know this video was made a long time ago bit hopefully you could help with a quick question of mine... I have the same 12 buttom switch and I am looking to hook a volvo fan to it. It very powerful and when first turned on spikes to 70ish amps then drops down to just under 30amps. How would you recommend wiring this? Will it work one of the 30amp outputs with a 70amp relays. And what guage wire would you recommend? Thanks and great videos!
Ok… You sold me on this, and I purchased the 12 gang model. QUESTION: How do I use this with ignition/acc power so I don’t drain my battery when I walk away without turning circuits off?? Thank you.
Please Make a video on a finding a fult in car for example horn is not working or alternator or vipper or Radio, how to find the fult so that we can correct them since we don't know specialy in feuz box that which fuze is for what work. Thanks. From Pakistan
What about smaller relay with no numbers near pins wire up jw. A lot of car relays i came across has no numbers or diagram on the side also they are much smaller with only 4 pins.
I would like to know if Relays can be wired in a way that there is a delay between each on in a series. I'd like to use a 'HALLS' Magnetic Switch to turn on other devices when it reaches a specific RPM, but I don't want the total load to all turn on at once, I'd like a delay between each device. Will having one Relay turning on another Relay, turning on a 3rd Relay allow the load to not all come at once? [EDIT] I did find Delay On and Delay Off Relays. They already exist.
I don’t know if you keep reading the comments now but it would be good if you show with this how can I made them strobe or something like that for fog light maybe it is just me but I can’t get it
I am looking to use one of these switch panels in place of a fuse box for a Jeep Cj7 project, would it be possible to have the brake lights and directionals still work off the same bulb?
I have a Whelen edge 9000 lightbar mounted on a back rack that I'd like to use this on. It has 1 ground wire and 1 constant hot that runs to the battery. Then each strobe pack has its own positive as a trigger. I'd like to run just the positives to this switch panel since the lightbar will be grounded anyway. You said this switches on the groundside. would that still work for the way I want to connect it?
Unfortunately this switch is probably not the best option for what you want to do because it switches ground circuits. I’ve heard that the company is coming out with a new switch that DOES do what you want, but I’m not sure when that will happen. I do have another video on wiring toggle switches. That may be a decent option for you if you don’t mind that type of switch?
Hey so I have a switch panel very similar to this one for lights, I also have a cutoff switch and I can still turn on switches with just the accessory wire connected to a switched source on the vehicle without the primary power wire connected to the battery. Do you happen to know why this might be? It’s an auxbeam 6 Gang switch panel.
Super cool set up, gives me a ton of ideas especially for the 3DoF simulator a friend of mine is building. Looks like integration would be simple enough and give the rig a really cool aesthetic 🐥
Hi, I'm currently building a kit car would love to use this switch panel, I have led head lights which have side lights, low beam, full beam and indicators all in one, this are the wires : Red Wire - Side Light or DRL Green Wire - Turn Signal Black - Earth Blue / Red - low Beam Blue / White - Main Beam Would also be nice to work earning lights from just one button? Hope you can help me!
I have wired my first relay (going to need a few for my kit car) wired exactly like you did. When I hit the button the unit flips out and turns off? I have to pull the relay. Turn the unit on. Turn the button off. Before the unit will power up again as the relay seems to be cutting it out. Ideas???
Tried again. With an LED number plate light attached. 85 black to control box - 86 white to control box + 30 blue to control box + 87 to led + Led - to battery - It instantly blew the 30amp fuse. 😢 That's the same as your starter. Relay is a MAA-S-112-C
Never seen a fuse do that. There are many different types of fuses. Some are "faster than other at blowing. Some are slow blow and even timed. The ATO used in automobiles must be on slower side.
@@WiringRescue I am wondering why you didn't use a relay on the fuel pump circuit correct me if I am wrong but most fuel pump circuits have a relay, is it because it's ground trigger?
I don’t have an msd box schematic, but my instinct is that it would need to be powered up with the rest of the ignition system. Generally that power comes from the ignition switch, and may or may not go through a relay depending on what is on that circuit and how much amperage it draws.
Have you retired? Latest video over 4 months old. If you are looking for new subject matter: fuel system install , tank to carb with your component recommendations using Push loc / lock Fragola style AN Fitting
Switching the negative is JPS. I'm sending it back. There's another model that's supposed to switch the positive. You know, like the way we've been wiring things forever. The new one says anode switching not cathode. Good thing I have one foot on a banana peal, cuz I'm getting really tired of them changing the rules. In other words I'm not rewiring 12 accessories just because they wanna switch the negative. What about horns and lights that are grounded to the bracket. Argh, JPS.
They can keep there PDM crap. They brake down or stop working your screwed. With mechanical relays and out in the middle of nowhere you can do a quick fix with very basic toold and get home.

Super cool set up, gives me a ton of ideas especially for the 3DoF simulator a friend of mine is building. Looks like integration would be simple enough and give the rig a really cool aesthetic 🐥
I know I sound dumb but wiring all of this would I still be able to use the key to be able to prime the car and turn on the ecu and everything else
This is where I'm at. Also it's a pain this switches negative and not pos.
Hi, I'm currently building a kit car would love to use this switch panel, I have led head lights which have side lights, low beam, full beam and indicators all in one, this are the wires :
Red Wire - Side Light or DRL
Green Wire - Turn Signal
Black - Earth
Blue / Red - low Beam
Blue / White - Main Beam
Would also be nice to work earning lights from just one button? Hope you can help me!
I have wired my first relay (going to need a few for my kit car) wired exactly like you did. When I hit the button the unit flips out and turns off? I have to pull the relay. Turn the unit on. Turn the button off. Before the unit will power up again as the relay seems to be cutting it out.
Ideas???
Tried again. With an LED number plate light attached.
85 black to control box -
86 white to control box +
30 blue to control box +
87 to led +
Led - to battery -
It instantly blew the 30amp fuse. 😢
That's the same as your starter. Relay is a MAA-S-112-C
Worked it out. Relay labell3d wrongly. Thanks
Never seen a fuse do that.
There are many different types of fuses. Some are "faster than other at blowing. Some are slow blow and even timed.
The ATO used in automobiles must be on slower side.
Yeah! It was really strange. Now I want to test the zombie fuse to see how much amperage it can handle!
Where was this last year :(((((((((((((((((
Haha. It was still in my head! Sorry I didn’t make the video sooner! Thanks for watching!
@@WiringRescue I am wondering why you didn't use a relay on the fuel pump circuit correct me if I am wrong but most fuel pump circuits have a relay, is it because it's ground trigger?
Halo im Asrul from indonesia
Please put in translate to indonesia subtitle your videos
Ilike your videos 👍🙏
Ac wiring..plzzz😊😊
What if I have a MSD box?
I don’t have an msd box schematic, but my instinct is that it would need to be powered up with the rest of the ignition system. Generally that power comes from the ignition switch, and may or may not go through a relay depending on what is on that circuit and how much amperage it draws.
Have you retired? Latest video over 4 months old. If you are looking for new subject matter: fuel system install , tank to carb with your component recommendations using Push loc / lock Fragola style AN Fitting
😂 not retired, just wrapping up a big car project that took way way longer than it should have! I’ll have new videos soon!
they always do @@WiringRescue
Switching the negative is JPS. I'm sending it back. There's another model that's supposed to switch the positive. You know, like the way we've been wiring things forever. The new one says anode switching not cathode. Good thing I have one foot on a banana peal, cuz I'm getting really tired of them changing the rules. In other words I'm not rewiring 12 accessories just because they wanna switch the negative. What about horns and lights that are grounded to the bracket. Argh, JPS.
👍
Cool & all but the negative crap isn't something most us would do. It's the china engineering.. not you. All your content is great!
That was a Crowd Pleaser...
They can keep there PDM crap. They brake down or stop working your screwed. With mechanical relays and out in the middle of nowhere you can do a quick fix with very basic toold and get home.
Nice video!!Good job.
Can you wire up my ride ?
Sadly no, I just work on my own cars and make videos to help others. Thanks for asking though.
