    First experience with BPPV yesterday. What misery!! Somehow I found your Foster Manuever for BPPV on UA-cam demonstrated by another Doc. Implemented that maneuver 3 times yesterday and once today and I'm feeling NORMAL again!! Bless you Doc 💚

    My wife just tried this. It got rid of the room spinning vertigo, but immediately after she now has vague non positional dizziness while standing and walking. Where before the room would spin during certain head movements. The spinning issue is solved, but now this. From what I read, it could be something called residual dizziness caused by the brain changing how it interpreted singles from the affected ear. But now that the crystals are cleared out and the ear is functioning normally again, the brain is still operating with a changed interpretation of the singles from that ear and will take anywhere between 1 week to a month or 2 to get back to normal single processing. Supposedly some exercises with head and eye movements - VOR exercises - will help speed up the process of the brain turning back to normal ear signal processing. Hopefully that happens soon.

      This can indicate that a few crystals are still present in the canal, just not enough to cause spinning. Try doing a half somersault each day and see if that helps this resolve.

    I thank you for your video on vertigo, it has helped me twice, many years apart, to get rid of vertigo. Now do you per chance have any advice on Tinnitus?

    Dr Foster - is this maneuver helpful with tinnitus?

    • @carolfostervertigo
      @carolfostervertigo  Рік тому +1

      Tinnitus arises in the cochlea, the hearing part of the ear. The exercise is for the balance part of the ear, so it does not help tinnitus.

    @ Carol foster can your maneuver the Foster half somersault be used on lateral BPPV? If so after treating the side that’s worse how long do you wait to treat the opposite side? Several days? A week?

      @@carolfostervertigo oh my gosh you replied! Thank you so much! Performing the Gufoni maneuver is there a possibility that if I do it incorrectly I could throw the crystals into the wrong canal? From what I’m reading the foster half somersault it is not possible.
      I’ve been through thousands of dollars vestibular therapy they’ve never done the foster maneuver with me. I’ve been through two chiropractors my second one now is my original chiropractor and I trust him. I believe he is the reason that the crystals possibly are now freely floating. Two weeks ago they got so active I knew they were on the move and I stumbled upon your original video. I can’t thank you enough! I see lots of versions of it but you’re the inventor so I do exactly as your video :-) The last two weeks I have felt the best I have felt in 15 months. It’s been so severe that the last four months or so I’ve been waking up several times in the night with vertigo. It’s been so bad that I dream of having vertigo 🥴Sometimes waking up I would get vertigo from those dreams. It’s just been like a complete nightmare.

    I did the half somersault, got nauseous, and puked and dry heaved for a full minute or two right after. Is this normal?
    Hours later, I do feel a bit better. Does it take hours to work sometimes?
    Now I am trying to get my nerve up to do it again. This my first time experiencing BPPV and it's pretty horrendous! I thought I was having a stroke (I'm not)

    Dr Foster, I also suffer from Motion Sickness and I very seldom turn my head too quickly. So, if I try out the blinking while turning my head quickly, do you think the vertigo and the motion sickness might both go away? Just a thought that hopefully it will work out for me.

    • @carolfostervertigo
      @carolfostervertigo  Рік тому

      Blink turns are useful if there is a loss of function in the ear. They're not generally useful for motion sickness, which does best with medication.

      PPPD does not respond to BPPV maneuvers unless you also have BPPV. PPPD can be treated with physical therapy.
