That thing sounds like a beast! By the looks of it, you don't have much snow. We have had a good amount so far this year. Once I get mine running again I am thinking about making a snow plow for the front.
Haha, no snow in Gilbert Az. Running it in snow would be a blast. I have stiffened up the differentials front and back with silly putty. not a complete lock like some do by adding epoxy. Sure helps, wheels don't free spin now. It would pull really well in the snow.
Here's the one I bought. Out of stock now. Just buy any 11.1 lipo www.walmart.com/ip/Walkera-Runner-250-15C-3S-2200mAh-11-1V-LiPo-Drone-Battery-by-Venom/175462057
Looking good! I love the older high end toy grades, a lot of it was essentially hobby grade in some respects. The suspension and drive train on this thing easily surpassed the entry level Tamiya trucks in terms of sophistication and design, just begging for hobby grade electronics! I have a few Nikko trucks that are similar in some ways ie: large and hobby like in construction. I really want one of these too but they never sold them in the Tandy stores here (UK equivalent to Radio Shack) I try to keep an eye out for them on US ebay but the postage is usually a killer. There was one a while back that quite cheap shipping, I had it on my watch list but bloody missed it! I've never seen one for sale in the UK, only the later dumbed down version with no proportional control etc, and I'm pretty sure they had changed factories by then because it's made of that horrible brittle looking plastic. Either they changed factory or it was a different supplier entirely either making the same design under license or just copying it. I have noticed that with a few later radio shack trucks, they superficially resemble older ones but seem to be made to much lower standards. Anyway, look at me babbling away. Just glad to see someone who appreciates the potential of these rigs, I'll subscribe to your channel, feel free to do the same, I like to play with stuff like this too!
I agree, this thing is made really well, drive train rocks, differential case solid materials. I have a few more old school radio shack RC toys. All holding up really well, for their age. It really disgusts me how poorly everything is made today, but yet cost continue to increase, but I digress lol. Cheers.
FATDEEMAN I just sold one of seven of my RadioShack hummers I now have three that are yellow and three different ones they made five different styles but the fifth one just says Matt tracks on it I had a vehicle that had those tracks on it and it was too slow and didn’t go through snow like I thought it would
Just picked one up for 10usd, no transmitter, battery or cover but when i saw the all steel drivetrain i had to have it. These are going for 100-200 on ebay...
@@justinsauer5682 my main card is fry, so i was thinking in to put some 540 brushless motor and a esc, i allready check the internals and seams to be very hard. I allready change the servo to use an old esc wired to the stock motor but its so slow haha
@@byronsshop7493 I had all five item numbers written down one of them is the Matt tracks I don't have that one because I didn't think it was any different from the other ones I had one is a yellow Hummer that's four wheel steering then there's just a regular Hummer that yellow then there's a regular Hummer that's black so they're identical just one's Black and yellow and then there's another Hummer that's the pickup style one with giant tires on it also the one with the four-wheel steer also has different tires on it
Awesome i just picked one up at goodwill for like 20$ put one of my old nickle team associated batteries in and off it went but can tell its definitely in the need of modern upgrades in the near future....

I've also been searching for some adapters that might help me put newer tires on it, my tread is pretty warn.

FATDEEMAN so all the stores in the uk were called just “Tandy”
Yes that's right. Some of the stuff was still Radio Shack branded though. I think it was called Tandy in Australia too.

I got some radio shack trucks that I'm working on
Hey would you consider selling it and putting on eBay ?
do you sell them ?
will you try brushless?
Probably not. going with brushless, I'd have to replace the ESC and motors. In addition, the drive train probably couldn't handle going brushless.

I just picked up one of these for 10usd, am i mistaken or does this not have a 540 motor in it. I like the drivetrain looks super strong.
550 for torque I have 4 of the 5 models they made
@@nomusicrc are the 5 models the PT Cruiser, Avalanche, yellow hummer, black hummer and the black hummer with decals?
