- Can you beat Pokémon Platinum with only Water Type Pokémon using Hardcore Nuzlocke Rules?
Normal Nuzlocke Ruleset:
1. Fainting = Death
2. Can only catch the first Water Type Pokémon on each Route (Species Clause); This includes Pokémon that evolve into Water Types.
3. Nickname Pokémon
Hardcore Nuzlocke Ruleset (from Pokémon Challenges):
4. No items in battle (held items okay)
5. No leveling past the next gym leader/E4 (at the START of the battle)
6. Play on "Set" battle mode

I never gave Tentacruel the time of day because of how common they are, then randomly decided to use it during one of my playthroughs and was amazed at how viable it was.
Gamefreak did him dirty by making Tentacool the Rattata of the water.
your'e not wrong about the rattata of water part however its nice when a pokemon is common in many gens so at least its easy to pick one up with good nature and IV's and or breed for it this is why I wish bibarrel was still around since the ability simple is great for stacking curses or swords dances surprisingly quickly its hilarious to get 2 swords dances in one turn though the other two abilities arent as good since there are pokemon that do unaware and moody strategies better but its the only fully evolved that gets simple even early game is hilarious stacking defense curl at double the speed
It's like zubat , people are soo pissed of Zubat encounters because it's soo annoying. But Crobat is seriously a very good Pokémon ! It's one of my fav bulky Bois
Well, rattata is also a good encounter, so don't do him dirty either. People sleep on guts radiate.

I was down to my Gyarados and Crobat ONLY for the E4 and my Gyarados had swept through most of the E4 and I had torn through Cynthia’s Team and then at Garchomp, We missed the 95% Accurate Ice Fang and she landed a 75% Accurate Dragon Rush and killed one of my last two remaining pokemon.

What happened to Frodo reminds me of a Gold Nuzlocke I once did. I got the Eevee and evolved it into Umbreon, and proudly switched my new dark type in to Morty's Gengar. Umbreon didn't have a damaging move that could hit it, but it could tank all the hits and lower Gengar's attack and accuracy until I could safely switch out to another Pokemon to finish it off. Except that I forgot that Mean Look exists.
I actually managed to spend all my PP and defeat it with Struggle in the end, not losing my Umbreon in the process.

My guess is he did the calcs and it brings Lucario into the red and Cynthia would use a full restore.
@@prideguy3233 I calced it, and it doesn't bring it into the red. However, if it did, that would actually be the correct strategy to use, as it gives 2 chances at a crit instead of just 1 because you get to attack on the full restore turn.

Agreed. Plus they both evolve fairly early. It’s not like the difficulty would be substantially greater if they were water types anyways.
Same. This is how I treat my own custom rule with overlapping typings; if a pokemon gains or loses a type upon evolution, the evolution is what matters regardless of what type the pokemon is now.
I see where your argument is but I think they should only be allowed once they are containing that type ngl otherwise it's not a true montotype run

As long as once it can evolves you do so, it should be good. Things like a steel nuzlocke keeping scyther or onix without evolving so you get more type variety for example wouldn’t be something I’d personally accept

I actually thought you were just gonna flamethrower the Lucario at the end. I’m like 90% sure that that would’ve knocked it out, but you won either way.
Flamethrower wouldn't quite have killed. It would have done more damage as it has the same 95 base power as Surf, but 2x damage because of Super Effective instead of 1.5x STAB. Maybe it would be just about enough if the Surf was a low roll, and he got a high roll Flamethrower + Burn, but I think it's very unlikely.
@@SuicidalTurnip Yea that’s probably true, but either way flamethrower is 100% the better option, But it doesn’t really matter at the end anyways.

I am surprised you dont keep a time tracker for how long each of these runs take. Would be interesting to see if an all water run is faster than all fire, for example. Not necessarily the same games, sure, but still interesting. Also hoping you do an all color pokemon, so all pokemon with the color blue in their name or on their Sprite, for example.

@@frax93 Super effective ice fang does 130 damage. Stab waterfall does 120. Granted ice fang has a chance to miss however it also has a chance to freeze and flinch. I think ice fang was the correct play.

When I was doing my ORAS nuzlocke and while training my electrike , I put my electrike on the top of the party to get exp. The very first trainer I battled after doing that, came at me with a trapinch......with arena trap.....and my electrike only had the move bite to attack it.....it only took one bulldoze to finish everything!!!!

Floatzel is one of the best counters to garchomp in my experience. i haven’t finished watching but i always recommend using it for Garchomp because floatzel has a higher base speed and teaching it ice punch will really help
