pokemon having incidental ice and ground moves in platinum is really damn common. I like the challenge normally, but when the solo pokemon is 4x weak to one of them, it's hell

If a move doesn't have 100 accuracy, it has 50 accuracy.

Wondering if you intentionally didn’t go for the Earthquake TM in the Wayward Cave secret entrance under Cycling Road! It’s accessible right after the Eterna Galactic Building in Platinum, unlike Diamond and Pearl, where you have to get Strength first to access it. Would have been a more powerful STAB-boosted move than Dragon Claw in most cases! Could be useful for some future Platinum runs, since a TM that good that early in the game is pretty great!
Edit: Just got to the part in the video where you got it. It’s still accessible a lot earlier than you chose to get it! Thought I’d let you know :)

No speedup is simply a means to prove, that you have a very particular skill: Patience. And I greatly respect that
However, I also do not mind if you were to use speedup. Although I definitely understand why it's just more.... comfortable?... to simply play the game how it's played without emulator tools
I would go even farther and say once EV's have been maxed out, I wouldn't mind cheating to level straight to 100. These challenges are a puzzle to see if something CAN be done. Grinding vs spawning rare candies doesn't influence the result one bit and it shifts the focus of the challenges to strategizing.
Yeah the challenge is not "how fast you can do it" but "CAN you do it" the speed doesn't matter in the challenge so i would say use what you feel most comfortable with.
Its crazy to not do it since you make your videos way more efficient and doesnt change anything. I watch the videos in 1.5x time speed anyways

Well, it's 4 misses, and Sand Veil is a 20% chance to dodge. 4 misses in a row is 1 in 5^4, or 1/625 (.16%).
Edit: Sand Veil is *not* equivalent to a Double Team, it's actually slightly worse. Corrected myself

She’ll Sandstorm increasingly helps Rock types in their Sp def But Rock Ground and Steel are not hurt every turn for five turns if you do not have a rock that prolongs a sandstorm

Now that's an accomplishment if I've ever seen one. Congratulations on this amazing run!
There are two things, however, that I'd like to suggest for future runs.
1) Consider using the VS Seeker for grinding purposes. Fighting trainers should be faster, especially if you don't want to speed up the game.
2) You can get a Quick Claw in Jubilife City. This would have helped you potentially avoid getting hit by Ice Punch or Dragon Rush in the first place.

Sometimes I wonder if it hurts when you stop a Pokémon from evolving? Like, it’s in the middle of growing and powering up significantly, and you just smack it in the face and stop it. Like, I feel kinda bad.
If it makes it any better, some of the games say that they stop because they're surprised, so I don't think you're smacking them in the face

I agree. You shouldn’t make things slower just to make it harder, since these challenges would still be really hard even if you used speed-up on grinding.
Yeah, also since some youtubers cant go over their recording time or schedule you can use speed up whenever you want to.
Mr. BeatsMachine Same here, I don’t really think it’s a big deal. Speeding up the game doesn’t really alter the difficulty in any way, it just let’s you get through the grind faster. I guess you could make the argument that it messes with the natural flow of the game, but that’s a matter of opinion at that point.
It would also be better if he just used pkhex to level the pokémon to as high as possible to replace grinding forever.

@DudeSwedish thats just stupid. Hell when i do challenges on smt to see if something is at all possible i multiply experience otherwise i will spend literal months grinding each demon to level 255. Helps me know if its even possible at maximum level

Actually I would love to see a challenge with a group of just birds, rodents, dogs/cats, etc. It would make interesting teams, instead of weak or a single type. Most weak pokemon become similar, not a lot, but we have so many of them. It be interesting to see group challenges.
Love watching your videos while working. A dratini gen 1 run would be interesting. It’s start would be super slow as it doesn’t get a decent attack move until lvl 30, but wrap is kind of broken so it might just be a patience deal. Lorelei might be tough but dratini can learn thunderbolt which will help for most of her team as most are part water. Maybe it would be too easy in the end I don’t know

felix irgendwas I think it’s because Goble’s main attacks are dragon. Steel types are weak to ground sure, but it resists dragon and normal.
To be fair, I think if he'd chosen torterra it may have been impossible because the rival would have used floatzel as his water type which gets ice fang

About the speed up... I mean, to me it's your call. For challenges like this where the grind is awful, you may as well use it and not waste too much time. It's useless and frustating for you. Otherwise you can do normal speed :)

For the future:
- You're given the VS Seeker, which allows you to rebattle trainers, right after the second gym. Grinding on wild Pokemon is likely much less efficient.
- Ice Shard always goes first, that Sneasel was not outspeeding you.
- Do a Kricketot only Diamond/Pearl challenge.
SilphSpectre made that challenge but it's impossible to beat it because of the last rival battle

15:39 actually, ice shard is a +1 priority move, so it goes first unless you use a move with higher priority, like protect or extreme speed, or are faster with another move of the same priority. Same goes for aqua jet on floatzel, though it was faster anyway, so it doesn’t matter.

Correct, except for all priority moves have the same amount of priority in gen 4
@@unfunnyyenjen3611 Nope. ExtremeSpeed is +2 priority while things like Quick Attack and Aqua jet are +1. Fake out is +3, and Protect is +4.
The move with the most priority value always goes first.

Pokemon Emerald with one Slakoth. Nearly impossible. Low stats and a terrible ability. Can do much damage to Roxanne, Brawly might be easy, Watson has steel as well so that doesnt help, Flannery's torkoal will be scary, and etc.

For the grinding before crashed wake, you could’ve used the vs seeker on the breeder north of solaceon town who has a happiny that gives 1255 exp and is super easy to take out
re: speed up, i say do whatever you want with it. i don’t imagine most people would have a problem with you using it
Pidgey in gen 6 might be interesting. It learns twister at level 18.

Loved this challenge as always!
Personally, I think you should use speed up for the sake of your sanity. Even if you have to spend the extra hour editing the video to run at the right pace, it makes up for the hours and hours of slow, grueling, brutal, painful, excruciating grinding.
Also I would love to see a pidgey run! But also consider doing a goldeen run maybe?
I disagree, not because I'm against speed up but because like me it just feels weird ofcourse it isn't cheating but he'll feel much better putting in the hours and getting the job done properly for him. More sense of achievement though it is a personal thing. Also when you speedup you king of disengage with the game personally, whatever though
