  • My first musical demo experiment using Output's Arcade instruments to create a track. I also used 3 instances of Outputs Portal for the twinkly granular high-end processed textures you hear flowing in and out of the transition parts.
The goal for me was to try and create an entirely new song from scratch using only sounds and textures from completely different Arcade instruments to see if I could write something new and fun.
Link to more info about Arcade here: go.output.com/...
Here is a detailed rundown of the instrument parts.
    1. Tiny sine-like sprinkled melodies at the intro were from the Particles instrument preset (Outer Limits)
    2. Second track using the "Hooked" Vocal instrument preset (I Gotchu). I just fell in love with these vocal snippets and tried to create an interesting repeating Arp-like sequence that would later build the foundation of the progression of the track.
    3. On the 3rd track I used the "Warped" instrument preset (Space Colony) which plays this nice airy string pad at part 1:52.
    4. On track 4 I used the "Pop Underground" instrument for the short pad's chord progression change, and lead line. This starts at 1:20, and the preset I used was called "Summer Theme".
    5. For track 5 I used the "Pop Underground" instrument again for the low-tone Bass line and organ-like instrument. There is also a light high hat that I did some tweaking to help build up a little bit more movement before the main beat kicks in at 1:20.
    6. For track 6 I used the "After Hours" instrument preset Futura Flora - which starts at 1:52, which is like this slightly detuned old school pad lead line that really acted like a nice counter-melody to the whole track especially towards the end.
    7. For track 7 I used the "Downtime" instrument preset "Twilight Glow". I just loved how the drums and percussion element grooved to the other parts in this song, and I felt it really helped bring a little more energy and backbeat without taking too much away from the melody and harmony progressions.

He posts snippets somewhat like this on his Instagram every now and then. They are absolutely amazing and I so wish he'd make full album of that stuff.

Is Output the one who supports MPE really well?

I don't know what "Output" means in this context. I'm assuming it's a company who made the synths represented by the color-outlined white windows. If not, maybe someone could clue me in? My viewing screen here isn't big or hi-rez enough to see. I'll do a search based on my assumption. That was a crispy funtoon, and just fabulous how you placed the sounds in space. I think the crispness helps focus a location for each sound. It's crispy and in your face, but also delicate and set back in space... it was fun to follow the LFO sounds into the void... for context: open-backed headphones (old DT990), mid-quality streaming, stoned hobbyist
Thanks for posting these - they often involve audio tools I'd never heard of

Haha I just searched and saw the "Output Arcade" launch video had 4.8M views in a year or so. So... I found what Output is🤣
I'll start with that video, I guess... Thanks for the heads-up
