@@sigis-mondi Thanks so much, I really appreciate it!
You titled this ‘Impossible’ but clearly it isn’t.
@@aural_supremacy It’s clearly just purposeful exaggeration to emphasis how skilled she is. It’s a common way of speaking, so I don’t think there’s anything wrong with it?
If you are feeling down about your own practice after watching this or any other video with Laruga, please know that she has been practicing Ashtanga CONTINUOUSLY since 1998. Time and dedication get you here. "Perfection" is not the object in yoga--growth is. No matter how slow your progress, no matter how far you seem from being able to achieve even a simple pose, you are reaping as much benefit as the next yogi as long as you are approaching it with an open heart and working with your breath. Even the most advanced yogi will never stop growing.
I very much needed your comment. Many thanks
Tks, just keep growing...
Amen!
So how long did it take for her to approach this level?
Namaste 🙏🏽
What I think I can do after one day of yoga
Rachel Vaughn
haha ha ha yes just need practice you can
F
I can do the dog and the cobra to. ;)
That comment nailed it all.
Rachel Vaughn this is a hard a severe form of yoga. I do hatha yoga, but the 2nd series of this would probably take 2-3 years to achieve and the first series a year.
Am I the only one who thinks the seamlessness of the transitions between poses are actually more impressive than the poses themselves?
Was every movement not a pose?
I was thinking the same thing Nyan... I don't desire half of her flexibility, but I'd sure love to earn half of her grace of movement!
That's were the strength and balance comes in with the control in the transitions. Same with Tai Chi, Chi Gong, etc.
People do not react to your comment not because it is wrong, but because it is absolutely obvious to anyone who ever tried yoga or something similar. Seamlessness, fluidness, effortless easiness...those come very late in the game.

the control she has over her body is insane OMG
I want to be as good as her someday
me too!!
sergio vela agreed! This video motivated me to practice more
mN
sergio vela yeah, how they ease into handstands always shocks me, especially with that incline at the fingers. How do they do it?
Not so tuf I am a yoga student and I know it's difficult but not impossible
You should title it: "Morning yoga for beginners".
"Mourning yoga for beginners"
Now THAT made me laugh out loud!!!!
LOL😂😂😂
🤣
Just for April fool's day and then take it down after
Beautiful! When I see a practice like this I don’t feel jealous or demotivated, I feel proud of her. what you are watching is years of practice, her getting onto her mat everyday no matter what to develop her body and mind, to commit to the practice, moving through all the doubt the mistakes the struggles to get to this point, it’s beautiful, really a pleasure to watch ☺️🙏🏼
Yeah, it makes me practice a lot
THIS!!!
Yes. This is our potential and she embodies the powerful force of the divine feminine in such strength poise grace dignity and beauty.
to all the beginners who are feeling demotivated by watching this video: notice how she continuously returns to downwards dog and cobra throughout the routine. what you are learning now are the foundations to become as good as she is
what peculiar name you people give there is nothing like downward dog stop polluting Yoga
@@gamerbuddys3670 it's exactly that, a name, for a pose in the English language. would you be happier if I put adho mukha svasasana? it's just translating the pose into another language . stop gatekeeping yoga
It’s exactly what I am thinking and exactly what I need to hear too! Thank you! I am 35 just starting yoga. Do you think I can really be as elastic and strong like her? I think it has immense health benefits let alone a strong and great foundation for meditation. I would think yoga is like anything as long as we are paying attention and of course have patience and perseverance and also important be careful of injuring, elasticity and strength would come eventually. Is it like that?
@@susanxjx Hiya, well I am 49 and just really beginning, so if you are 35 now, by the time you get to my age, you could have had 14 years of yoga practice! :-) I think that every day is important, and one good quality down dog ( :-) ) is much better than just rushing through any number of more technically complex shapes without mindfulness and connection. Wishing you well, and a lovely day!
No not at all, we aren't feeling demotivated after watching this ..infact we are super excited to see the flexibility and outstanding moves.
This was the most beautiful 5 minutes I've spent in a long time. And, all I did was stand and stare. It is amazing to see what mastery looks like. Thanks!
Cara Lee avjjhngbghj’z’dn’skiiuuuuiiii oo
Yes, mastery is the word. So many people talk about perfection these days, but mastery is the word and that is an entirely different journey.
Yes she is wonderful
Imagine accidentally going to a yoga class that's something like this when you just wanted to go do some cat-cow poses.
Lol
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
LOL! Felt this
lol
It would be a dream... :c
For the first time I understand what they mean when they say "float up to the top of your mat".
This level of mastery is absolutely awe-inspiring! Yoga isn't supposed to be about achievement, but nothing wrong with admiring amazing people.
I think it's great to see what the pose can llok like so you can work towards that. Good to have an amazing example!
I bet that people who never practiced Yoga thinks what she does is really hard. But people who practice it know this is plainly impossible. Wow.
That is not true. Give it a three years of dedicated practice, four times a week minimum, and you will get there.
@@Sehmetys You are completely ignoring the fact that for some people, due to bone structure or tendon and ligament placement, some of those moves will always be impossible. Every body is different, and not every body can manage full hip extension, side splits, etc. Encouraging people to push their bodies into forms that are physiologically impossible for them is what causes so many injuries in Yoga every year.
@@k.kirkland9796 , what Laruga demonstrates are asanas from the first 3-4 series of Ashtanga yoga. This is also what I've been practicing for two years now, until Nakrasana. I am aware that this is a short amount of time. However, as someone who is neither long-limbed nor particularly skinny/strong/flexible, I still stand by what I said.
According to the descriptions I find at various blogs and forums, my body is all ''wrong''. But in the end, not like it matters - because neither of these asanas is anatomically impossible. Dwi Pada Shirsasana, Kapotasana, Karandavasana - you name it. Provided that you practice with a qualified teacher, none of these is either dangerous nor impossible. All it takes is time and dedication.
@@Sehmetys I have practised yoga for 20 years and would totally disagree that this is possible for many many reasons. I suffer with osteo arthritis and fibromyalgia my body is flexible and supple but not capable of moving into positions that cause pain or discomfort. This is never ever ever the intention or reason to practice yoga. yoga should always be practised within an individuals comfort zone, it isn't necessary to glamorise or present a performance for people to feel in awe or daunted.
Whilst I applaud Laruga for her performance and capabilities I would do the same for anyone at any level with their practise, because yoga will be personal and beneficial to each and everyone that chooses to practice.
Sehmetys it takes a lot longer than 3 years
one of the most beautiful things I have ever seen a human do. graceful
Hinduism is beautiful
She was like a poetry in motion.
The feeling of peace I've gotten from this video is something I can't explain. It's one of the most beautiful things I've ever seen. Ashtanga is now something I aspire to practice
Thats amazing how yoga shows that you really dont need big muscles to be really strong!
I mean, she's pretty ripped. Did you mean women don't need big muscles to be strong? Because women, even straight-up power-lifters, don't put on "bulky" muscle the way men do. Not enough testosterone for that :). I see this way of thinking a lot, and I guess what I'm saying is don't be afraid to weight-lift or work on strength if you're a woman. Even insanely strong ladies (like the woman in this video) very rarely have that Schwarzenegger look.
Ali Yoga helps you train your muscles so that you engage every fibre when strength is required. My elderly teacher looks fragile, but he is as strong as a bull!
Foundation strength. Muscles that are toned to the body not an object such as weights. Seen ripped dudes have identical practices as overweight dudes.
You just need to build a strong core, you don’t need to look bulky/ripped! There’s a difference between fit and ripped. All based on what you want for your body.
What is amazing here is how poor you are at being able to tell if some one is strong or not. Most people have no eye for muscle mass.
Whenever I hear dudes saying how women are "weak" I'm just gonna send them this video. She's a legend!
Melissa Peddy with all due respect this video wouldn’t exactly disprove the notion of women being weaker than men, the only thing that possibly could disprove that argument would be a sudden change in the entirety of human biology, which would probably only happen over the course of millions of years
Of course none of this goes against the fact that this women and women in general are amazing, the supreme control this women has over her body truly is a trait most men could only dream of
Sorry for the long comment, have a lovely day/evening
Yoga girls are so strong
@@CubicleComa369 Most women have more lower body strength than most men. Most men have more upper body strength than most women. It's strength distribution. And people who work out and are in shape are going to be stronger than people who don't and aren't, regardless of sex. Nothing needs disproving other than an antiquated notion that is based in misogyny and a lack of understanding of physiology. Namaste.
Laruga has a wonderful story about her own personal journey. Yoga is more than bendy poses, it’s a way of being. It’s the unification of mind, body and spirit. To know her is to understand that her practice is not just one sees on the mat. Such a beautiful flow!
If poetry and athleticism had a union ... love ❤ it!!!!!!!
This was such a strong and core engaging visual poetry. I literally had tears in my eyes. It must be so incredible and fulfilling to feel that strong and be grounded to earth yet move with so much grace and fluidity. Thank you for sharing this. 🙏🏻
Thanks for your beautifulcmments. You put in words what I thought.
Uu
Ditto, I cried as well. She is so bendable strong and fluid.....namaste'
Beautiful! But most impressive of all is she had that ‘’mona lisa’ smile the whole time, through all the challenging poses she is completely blissful
A wise old yogi once told me: “many asana, one face”
I would have I a slight smile on my face if I am amazed at what my body and I can do after years of practice. It like eventually catching a ball after the numerous times a ball makes contact anywhere besides your hands after it is thrown towards you.
Yes she was completely poised!
So fluid! I’ve been practicing consistently for 3 months now and it’s an amazing transformation to see your body’s flexibility and strength grow.
I´m almost crying. That´s absolutely stunning and beautiful. Love it.
I am currently doing "yoga with Adrienne" but this is my ultimate goal 😁
Same!!
@@harshhere8963 I'd like to think that Adriene does know more than she lets on, but the goal of her channel is to make yoga accessible to the average UA-cam viewer for free. Is getting millions of people on the mat and opening their minds to the potential of proper practice in the future less noble than exposing a select few to the true teachings for a fee? (Open-ended question, I don't have the answer).
@@harshhere8963 There is no spiritual side in stretching exercises
@@harshhere8963 Your ego is highly overrated
@@harshhere8963 I understand what you are saying, but one thing you have to keep in mind is that Adrienne help beginners to learn and enjoy American yoga ( not indian) and feel good while doing it. My boyfriend said yoga is "just a lot of stretching and breathing exercises" so I sent him this

He ain't wrong though. Many of the more accessible forms of yoga concentrate heavily on breathing and stretching.

Well done to you for doing it. 53 year s young here, started twice a week huffing and puffing. Now almost daily practice, inversion amongst others things keeps your journey interesting. Sending love x

Wow! I love yoga, it's my passion.... but this woman is fantastic !
this vedio brings me to tears, the impossible is possible, after all all matters is the growth and being with yourself at the present
I’ve never seen anyone perform yoga so beautifully! So inspiring! ❤
oh.my.god! seriously, does she have to make it look soooo easy LOL. she is absolutely amazing. the strength, the control, the flexibility is just jaw dropping
IKR

This is seriously my favourite video on UA-cam, I can't tire of this. What I love the most is how it portraits the potential of playfulness living in our bodies.
Namaste, I am grateful that the universal, all embracing and ancient wisdom of India and Hinduism ( yoga and meditation) is being appreciated and adapted all over the world now...

Sydney Treece That makes me very hopeful! I’m going to start with my 13 year old too! Thanks
I wish I would have started at a young age like you, I'm only 28 years old but it's still a very big difference at 30 your body starts to slow down.
You have made the right choice to start exercising at a young age. This will keep you looking good and feeling healthy in your older years.
I wish I had done the same, you have a great mom👍
Poetry in motion , absolutely beautiful.

Absolutely beautiful!! However i must disagree with the impossible part, hard work, devotion to this practice (tapas), pure intention, and honoring where you are at each stage of your practice (santosha) this is very achievable and I assure you that the internal journey that is experienced during the process far exceeds the physical. May all of you be filled with infinite Love and Wisdom Namaste
Wise Words Namaste
David Bonessi
Very well said and so very true. Words of wisdom.
Namaste.
David Bonessi Personally, I don't think it literally means its impossible. I interpret as what seems humanly impossible is actually possible. That once we explore further from our comforts, we learn that the only thing limiting us is our mind.
Eunice Santiago Precisely! I agree that this video highlights what most of us would deem very difficult - see impossible- but as anyone who maintains a regular yoga practice can attest to, your body and your mind will open up in ways you never imagined possible- that is the true power of yoga- we begin to see our infinite potential and clear all obstacles in our way. Namaste:-)
I had three disc prolapses (the 1st at my 30th birthday...seemed like an omen: you're getting old now, dude.) over a a period of 10 years, even though I've always been engaged in sports of various kinds: judo, basketball, bicycling. Until a year and a half ago - that's when I began practicing yoga on a regular basis - I'd been thinking for years that I always would have to live with backpain for the rest of my life. Now, at 47, I've been free from pain for several months. But the physical benefit is just a nice side effect...what happens mentally and spiritually when you get deeper into it is the most exciting trip one can imagine.
A Ya - It's truly a shame that Laruga doesn't stir a deep emotional sense of gratitude within you. Time, effort & devotion is what brought her to the state of excellence that she's achieved. Let her level of accomplishment motivate you to be the best that you can be. She's breathtaking!
Exactly 😩
