Peter Jackson looks so smug throughout all this. He's just like "I've successfully transformed an entire nation into a fantasy world. I win"
So much win!!!! LOL!
Peter Jackson DID change the entire economy of a nation with just one movie trilogy. Then he knew that making another would be a really great idea! XD
More like, "I just successfully malformed a single good adolescent fantasy novel into three really shitty movies".
then a second movie trilogy to boost it again. So 6 movies on 1 story line from 4 books not bad.
Yeah, I think that would fall within the criteria for claiming a win.
What a missed opportunity!
Gandalf says in the end: "Fly, you fools!" The greatest slogan ever!
Seriously though!! 😂 That would have been a great cherry on top
Possibly. However, some passengers might not like being called fools.
It would have been great. But, passengers might also remember he said that just before he fell to his death from a great height
@@jameslavelle5428 he didn't fall to his death, he vanquished the fire creature and survived
@@lorcis1 He did die and was resurrected by Eru.
I love that all the smiles are genuine. They're not smiling because the director told them to. They're obviously just happy to pretend to be elves for a day. 😄
they can smile all they want, but they don't fool me, they are basically talking about how dangerous taking a plane is. I'm not getting on one of those death machines.
@@Ponk_80 Planes are way safer than cars. You get a manual that explains the same thing for the car when you buy it from the dealer.
@@Ponk_80yeah as someone else said, plane crashes really aren’t that common. It’s just that when they do it’s more fatalities than a car accident but if you drive a car you’re already in more danger daily than in a plane.
@@Ponk_80 You don't live by taking steps backwards.
@@Ponk_80 Life is lethal. Better stop it as soon as you can to minimize the risk of any suffering.
This was made 9 years ago as I first watch this! Amazing! Glad I lived long enough to do so! At 76 years old, that's a feat! Well done!

An additional note is that no one will ever know what I said because I edited this comment
this maybe the most expensive flight safety video to make
but probably the best
And probably the only flight safety video to successfully grab everyone's attention.
Hopefully not the longest
It could be the longest. At least I'd pay attention.
The new American Airlines one is pretty fancy and trippy. The whole thing is taking advantage of different things like mirrors to make for a really visually interesting production. It's all done in a warehouse like that one trippy OK Go music video.
I'm not ashamed to say that I teared up when Elijah Wood gave the blessing at the end 😢
As a New Zealander here we still have these awesome safety videos on planes and they change them to something completely new every few months
Gandalf: "YOU...SHALL NOT...SMOKE ON THE PLANE"!!!
He says while smoking a pipe.
When did Gandalf say that? All I saw was Sylvester McCoy talking about it and he didn't play Gandalf, he played Gandalf's wizard friend Radagast.
@@Tiparium_NMF wrong
@@fireangelz7902 No u
@@Tiparium_NMF No, I'm not wrong. First off. That wasn't Gandalf. That actor was Sylvester McCoy who played Radagast, Gandalf's friend. And he wasn't smoking the pipe. That was the actor who was playing the part of the Lord of the rings fan / passenger on the plane.
*Fly* you fools!
and yet they did finally
this is what air liners should include in their ads.
Smith Wesson 👏👏👏
Smith Wesson why did this remind me of O’Malley from red vs blue?
Perfect! LOL
Kudos to the agency that created this masterpiece! Had all those Navy training films I suffered through decades ago used a touch of the creativity illustrated here, they would have been much more effective!

Great seeing the wonderful Sylvester McCoy here. I've been a fan of his since I first saw him live on stage with his Travelling Roadshow way back in 1979. Terrific safety film. More should be this inventive.
Top bloke. Met him at a convention and he accepted my offer of a pint together. Utterly down to earth.
@@guybates111 Not the best Doctor Who though
@@jj9749 He was the blueprint for the modern Doctor. He was one step ahead of his enemies at all times. He played a fool but was actually especially cunning. He had a secret dark side that every Doctor in the new era has conveyed and he was the first Doctor to be hinted as 'not just another Time Lord'. The truth is, without the Seventh Doctor, New Who would not have been the success it was.
Seeing the orcs happy and being friends with the rest of the races of Middle Earth is strangely satisfying
Maybe without Sauron's baleful influence they all suddenly turned friendly and nice... and promptly died in a massive earthquake. Oops.
I mean in the book the two orcs leading the ons who take Frodo after the spider incident are talking about taking the boys and doing a runner, and how it sucks how everyone hates them as much as they hate salron (who the orcs are also known to despise deep down)

@@atriox7221 I'll have to read that bit again, but wow thats kinda sad :(
It's said that in the war the only beings that fought strictly for one side between good and evil were the elves, meaning that some orcs were good
tolkien has said they are not evil, theyre just cannon fodder for the bad guys

Coolest safety commercial, a long story short. Thank you.
Honestly my fear of flights would disappear if I saw this on the plane.
They did play it on the plane lol
mine too, i had huge fear of flying now i would love to :D
Just flew Air New Zealand for the first time, a few weeks ago on a SF to Sydney flight. The newest safety video featured Anna Faris (from the "Scary Movie" series and Rhys Darby. Pretty funny. Free wine, seats that actually reclined just enough for me to sleep for the first time ever on a plane, hundreds of movies and music albums to keep you entertained for a transoceanic flight...a great experience overall.
2:34 Love it when he does that.
Long haul.
"If Nazgul attack the plane, please proceed to the next weapons chamber, where the personnel will hand you battle axes, swords, shields and chainmail."
"If you don't know how to use a weapon, then you are gonna friccin die"
...and clickbait too.
- Assign female warriors to frontline
I'll bring my own chainmail. It's custom.
...and the one ring to rule them all. haha. ;)
Ratagast gives excellent safety advice. I could listen to him give tips and guidance all day! The LOTR safety video was shown on many American airlines as well, such as Delta. I loved watching this as we were taxiing down the runway.
I never travelled air nz. But obviously most epic ad of all time ever. Looks forward to fly ✈️ in air nz

I think this should be made into a trilogy that covers ship and train travel as well. :)

For those who haven't flown the national airline, it is good to know that when Rakinui gives a hard time to the air-plane and it falls from the sky, passengers can take out the oars and row to a safe descent.
I absolutely love how they had Fili's actor in this
Can you imagine if they also remodelled the interior of the planes into a middle earth theme?

Hmm.. I don't think it would cost as much as you think. There is a LOTR movie set village in New Zealand. Also, parts of the natural scenery in New Zealand look like movie scenes..
