    BOILED SHRIMP
    2 Gallons of water
    3/4 Cup Seafood Boil Seasoning
    1/4 Cup salt
    2 tablespoons liquid crab boil
    3 Lemons
    2 Oranges
    2 lbs of Smoked Sausage
3 lbs of Small Red Potatoes
1 lb of Whole Button Mushrooms
1/4 Cup of Spicy Cajun or Creole Seasoning
4-5 lbs of Unpeeled Raw Shrimp
    8-12 Ears of Frozen Corn
Start out by heating a large stock pot filled with 2 gallons of water on a high heat.
Squeeze in the lemons and oranges, dropping them into the pot of water.
Prep the onion and garlic by cutting them in half.
Poke holes in the potatoes an cut the sausage into desired sizes.
Add the seafood boil seasoning, salt, and liquid crab boil.
    Mix well.
As it starts to come to a boil, remove the lemons and oranges.
Add the potatoes, onion, garlic, mushroom, and sausage to the pot. If you have a mesh boiling bag, you can use this, but it helps if you have a pot with a built-in strainer.
Boil on a high heat for 20-25 minutes. Monitor the heat so that it doesn’t boil over.
After the allotted time is up, remove all the fixings from the pot onto a tray off on the side.
Next add the spicy blend of Cajun seasoning.
Bring the pot back to a rolling boil.
Slowly add the shrimp to the pot. Let the pot come back to a slight boil. May take about 5 minutes.
Once you see a slight boil and the shrimp have floated to the top; add the frozen corn to the pot, stir, cover, and turn the heat off.
Let sit for another 10 minutes, periodically stirring.
Dump the shrimp out into a strainer, and serve!

Big fan of boiled shrimp with the fixings and I’m new to it so just wanted to ask a question.
Where’s the mush? Like all the vegetables grounded up to create a sauce that it sits in? I’ve been to Let’s Sea and Star Crab In Los Angeles so those are my only references.

      @SlaywithJayTV 4 роки тому +2

We don’t put sauce on our seafood boils in Louisiana , that shrimp and crab seasoning we boil our seafood in and the fruits and onions give our seafood a nice spicy flavor you can see the seasoning on the potatoes and on the shrimp . So no sauce is needed 😊

Or is the water seasoned enough to do the second round of shrimp? I’m not sure if I could fit all 10lbs in my pot at one time.

    • @TheCajunNinja

    • @NWGoldSilverMC
      @NWGoldSilverMC 5 років тому +3

You can actually devein them without splitting the back - take a toothpick and poke it into the shrimp between 2 of the shell's joints near the tail, right below the vein, and lift it out through the back, it'll take the vein with it and you can just slide it right out in one!

I'm 54, I learned a few years ago that "over boiled" shrimp are the worst, such a waste. If you see shriveled shrimp/skins, look like they've been baked for hours, like the shrimp been baking under a heat lamp, AVOID AT ALL COST. TOUGH!!! Shrimp only need a few minutes to cook. The longer you boil, the tougher they get, HELLO!!! I use a simple recipe for 2lbs of shrimp: fill a 4-5qt pot with enough water to cover shrimp, add Zatarain seasoning, spices(garlic/onion powder, Tony's), 2-3 bay leaves, lemon, add 1 capful Zatarain crab boil. Boil seasoning 10-15 minutes while dissolving. IMPORTANT: make sure all seasonings are dissolved. Add 1lb shrimp at a time! Make sure u have a bowl filled with ice water ready. When shrimp turn pink, 3-4 minutes LITERALLY, take shrimp out, dunk in ice water to STOP the cooking process, drain water, then place in a large bowl filled with 1 stick WARM/NOT HOT butter, chopped garlic, Tony's seasonings, and dried/fresh parsley. Utter heaven!!! This is to be eaten immediately, otherwise the butter will harden. If you want cold shrimp, drain shrimp, fridge, and make a seasoned dip using butter, garlic, parsley, and Tony's to dip. So super easy!
Cajun Ninja your recipe has my mouth salivating. Love ur recipes!!! Please dont take offense to my advice. I have the deepest respect for ur cooking.

Earl Powell rice??? I don’t think you understand how highly seasoned that water is. It’s great for letting certain food soak up, but not to just ladle over rice, lol. Your sodium intake would be dangerously high. 🙃
