I really like the heart on their right cheek (I don’t know if you intended to paint the heart but it looks like their cheek is heart shaped :D) I love the whole painting and every time I watch your videos I learn something new so thank you!!!
I’ll be doing my first big attempt at gouache for an art project at my university on Friday, so I’m totally gonna watch a bunch of tutorials beforehand!
Thank you! Seems you can never do wrong. Every piece of work is beautiful. I also definitely prefer the "piece centric" talk-through videos like this one rather than the generic tutorials.
I started painting with gouache and watercolor a few years ago. Before then I painted acrylic on canvas. My inspiration for trying was Alex Ross. He’s very realistic with his approach. He paints the gray tones in then the colors afterwards. Soo I’ve tried that with some success. I don’t always do that though. What I’ve discovered though is that while gouache can’t get detail and realism, you can also be expressive and painterly. Which I also enjoy from time to time.
Hello HamRib Art. I am back to painting whit gouache. I tryed whit oils and watercolours but i dind like them so i am gonna go back to gouache 😊i love you,re paintings
This is wonderful and well-explained. I'm trying to understand the gouache process better because I want my digital art made with "gouache brushes" to look more traditional, so I appreciate the comments about things like the consistency of the paint.
Just got my himi gouache because I was inspired by you and now I'm really intimidated 🥲😅. I've been rewatching your videos for tips, hoping I'll get used to this medium. Wish me luck🤞
ahh! I have always been afraid of losing the detail of the sketch under all the layers...and then you went in with a pencil and did a sketch over the layers!! Thank you. I guess I always thought you weren't allowed to do that. But it looks like that was my own rule, not a rule in general.
I enjoyed this tutorial so much! I’ve never tried gauche and I’m only just starting to tackle oil paints but this has inspired me to educate myself more in the medium!!
Woah not sure whY this was in my feed but I had to click on it because that is me!! That picture she painted looks like a caricature of me!! I’m sharing this ASAP !! It’s not me forreal but it looks just like me I have no idea where the character comes from but it’s my face!! ❤️🥰
*8:55* have you tried to coat ur gouache paintings with varnish? Maybe it will be more saturated and pop out. I suggest trying out the Spray type varnish so it doesn’t rub ur paint ?? Great color and value tho!!
I'm an oil painter dipping my brush into gouache for the first time and your wonderful videos have been both a guide and an inspiration. In this one, you had both astonishing colours and some very lovely music! It is a great idea to have a _test patch_ to be able to figure out if you made the right mixture, but one thing I'm struggling with is... If I lay down paint on the test patch, and then wait for it to dry... Then by the time it is dry, so is the paint on my palette. Assuming it is good, do I just have to try to make the same mixture again? Or is there some way to keep the palette paint wet and workable?
gorgeous; you recommend which paper for gouache? since you commented that watercolor is not the best. Thank you. i think it came out gorgeous on watercolor paper; you said it absorbs more or the paint? did I understand correctly?
I've tried using watercolour paint for the first few layers. The end result has been okay, but I seem to cover lots of work done in watercolour. Can't decide if this is worth the effort; maybe I should go straight in with thin gouache.
Bajbsrvkuhvhew when I used my arches cold press watercolor paper I felt the sameeeeeee! It was like as if the color was sinking in the cotton paper like water in a rag! I should try some celulose paper or Bristol paper (that is the paper in my sketch book and it works soooo well). Also I was missing u soooo muuuuch
@Monica Taylor Art thank you so much this has helped a lot , one more question is when picking the gouache colours which colours would you recommend to start with as there are so many
I got gouache about a year ago. I did not understand it. This is the first video I have seen that I understood the process of using gouache. Already feel more confident with gouache. 👍❤️
AAA stunning 🥺🥺 by the way what kind of pencil did u use for the sketch?? i use charcoal and also colored pencils but it still there even tho i put thicc paint... aaand im sorry if you already mentioned in this video.. i cant really get it since i am still learning english listening 😔
Yes but gouache performs a lot differently. I think acrylic will be easier to navigate because you won't have to worry about the consistency being right
I get that your still getting some lift of colors placed earlier in the work. Was always warned to restrict the number of layers while working in gouache so the painting doesn't get oversaturated with pigment. The paper only has so much ability to absorb water or color due to sizing that is present in the makers process of manufacture. Not sure if you just need to think more about the mood of the painting beforehand, keying your color selrctions, while letting the cool and warm hues play off one another, or suggest you pursue a more fresco type of converse color strategies that permit the glow from below creep into the final distribution of layers at the end. There are as many ways to approach these things as there are subjects to represent. You did complete a beautiful rendering which is precisely the reason for your all your efforts, and that may be the entire point as far as your concerned. Have a great day.
Is there a name for this style of painting? It looks like oil paintings. I'm used to watching whimsical girls being painted lol. This is fascinating to watch, but I doubt I will ever be able to know where to add each color. Lol
I really like the heart on their right cheek (I don’t know if you intended to paint the heart but it looks like their cheek is heart shaped :D) I love the whole painting and every time I watch your videos I learn something new so thank you!!!
It usually forms a triangle but the model has some chubby eyes so it forms a heart
@@Vaishnavi-hp7cr ah I see, thank you for explaining. I just really liked it because the heart suited the whole painting : ).
I hadn't noticed this but that's so cute!
I’ll be doing my first big attempt at gouache for an art project at my university on Friday, so I’m totally gonna watch a bunch of tutorials beforehand!

It seems that you like to paint in color patches, in a more chunky way, that gives a nice stylized look. I learned something now ;)
it would be amazing if you had a unedited gouache painting video, your art style and colors blows me away
I enjoyed this tutorial so much! I’ve never tried gauche and I’m only just starting to tackle oil paints but this has inspired me to educate myself more in the medium!!
Love the Retro feel of this :-)

I will be trying gouache after watching ur videos..we’ll first try to mimic ur colors and techniques first
That's awesome ! I hope you enjoy it!
I need to get a little colour wheel. Cause i don,t know colours that well😊
Because of you I'm started to think trying again the gouache medium.
For a person looking to start with gouache and has little to none painting experience which gouache brand would you recommend and brushes etc..
@Monica Taylor Art thank you so much this has helped a lot , one more question is when picking the gouache colours which colours would you recommend to start with as there are so many

OMG ate you're reading kulti?! that's a great book, I read it in one sitting last week.

Nice to follow you from Iraq. I wish you the best
I really love this painting especially the hair! 🥰
Where do you get your references from or do you paint/draw from imagination? :)
This is prettyy! How do you deal with dried or left paints on your palette?
AAA stunning 🥺🥺 by the way what kind of pencil did u use for the sketch?? i use charcoal and also colored pencils but it still there even tho i put thicc paint... aaand im sorry if you already mentioned in this video.. i cant really get it since i am still learning english listening 😔
Can I suggest that you make the talking part louder than the other sounds?
BTW, Amazing art as always.
What artbook or paper do you use??? My paper keeps wrinkling and bending
Love it girl! I saw it today and thought: "I must do it" I have 2 questions:
How many grams had the paper? and Which size had the paper...pls answer🥺
Você joga sem medo as tintas no papel, queria ter essa coragem
But if you paint on non watercolor paper, won't the paint reactivate and move way easier, so basically it will be impossible to add this many layers?
love
Can u do this with acrylic too?
