I always feel guilty and embarrassed when a plant starts going downhill (or in the case of ferns goes rapidly downhill) but its nice to see not everyone is perfect at caring for plants. We’re all learning together
how much humidity do you give it? I just got mine few weeks ago and repotted it with a moss pole as some of the leaves weren't looking so hot and noticed a bit of brown tips ugh
I really appreciate when you are no longer in love with a plant you share the joy of plants with your family and friends. There is something magical about plants that can connect people together 🌱🌿. Your "talking hands" don't bother me or seen to take seat from the video. I get so excited when you post a new video!!! Keep up the awesome work!!!!
Good morning! Fittonias are my worst. I'm sure it's my fault, but they are just so needy! On the flip side, I have a huge calathea collection. Go figure. Lol
Yes put the Brandtianum on a pole! I got mine last year in fall or winter from Steve’s Leaves with all big beautiful leaves and it was like a fake plant forever because it never changed. I heard to avoid small leaves to put it on a pole so I recently did. When I put it on the pole it was growing it’s first baby leaf and it didn’t like the move even though I was gentle because the baby leaf died 😭. It’s currently growing another leaf on the same spot so 🤞! I would also suggest putting the adansonii on a pole eventually because it’s got big beautiful leaves and you probably want to keep it that way. Mine did not have such big leaves to begin with but started putting out a bunch of smaller ones so I poled it also. I’m not sure if it worked yet and thankfully shows no signs of stress. You are obviously experienced in poles but these are my two cents for those plants and hopefully your plants don’t freak out if you pole them 😁!
Thank you for making this video! It’s actually a little comforting knowing I’m not the only one who has a couple struggle plants! 💚 this gives me a whole new wave of motivation to keep at it! 😅 oh and give Leo a hug for me! 😍
I love your monstera thia constellation, I have finally excepted the fact that I will never be able to have one of my own so I admire other thia constellations from afar.
My hardest plant has been a scindapsis pictus right now! It came to me as a little cutting and I just cannot seem to get it happy enough to not have perpetually sad looking leaves My happiest I think might be my Cebu blue!! Came from that same package as a couple little cuttings and is growing magnificently! Have four new leaves as we speak
i cannot believe that mamei is an import and looks so stunning!! i have really been wanting to try importing plants once this all dies down and i think you just sold me. this is exactly the kind of diva/no diva plant video i've been needing! they aren't overly common, not that there is anything wrong with that! i love my heart leaf philo as much and maybe more than my melano. i just have been hunting more uncommon plants lately and want to see how someone without a full ass greenhouse finds their care! thank uuu
I agree with the Pilea being a difficult plant, mine grows like a tree and drops leaves along the way. I’m amazed when people have talk Pilea’s and have leaves all the way up the trump like stem and babies thriving.
I would suggest cutting the monstera peru back to maybe one or two nodes, even if it's left a stump, and then propagate every single node. The leafless ones in a sealed container with moist sphagnum moss and the ones with leaves in water. I've had problems like these in the past, mostly on ficuses, where they just start dropping leaves, and then i cut them down to a stump or the few young shoots coming up further down, if they exist at all. It's how i saved my mother's ficus from being thrown away out of leaf-dropping induced rage.
Oh God Crotons. It's a love hate relationship we have. Super easy to water, he always lets me know but gosh any moving = dropping leaves and spider mites are just the worst on this guy
Hi Becca. Sounds awful but I’m glad to hear that someone else is struggling with the Peru. I have the same issue as you but can’t figure out what it needs. It’s hard to find videos or written advice on this as most people have success with them. Would love to hear an update on it if you manage to turn it around 🌱👍🏼
It’s definitely nice to know that you’re not alone! I completely understand 😫 I actually am noticing small growth stubs where leaves fell off. So fingers crossed they become something!
I love your videos Becca! Keep up the great work! You teach me so much about plants and made me want more! My easiest plants are definitely my Pothos but my most difficult plant has been my aglaonema siam. I got her in a trade and she just hasn't been happy and I'm not too sure what to do with her.
For your pilea peperomioides make sure it is not in too big of a pot! These boys don't like swimming in soil and have quite a shallow root system. Mine has been doing so well that I have a little nursery going on with its babies haha.
Aloha Becca, I think you're right in your diagnosis. It looks like its under watered, not from root rot or pests. I'm assuming it's getting enough light?? The mystery is the new growth. Perhaps you changed something in the watering and it said, "Whew. Finally, some water. Let's have a party!" LOL
Mamei >>> Brandiatnum any day, especially after this video and seeing how big it can get outside of a greenhouse in normal room conditions! Ugh, besides Clarinervium, most anthurium are so much more finicky compared to other genus. Most of the stumps I have right now are anthuriums haha
I’m so glad the Philodendron Mamei made the list! I got a little baby for cheap and it’s already pushing out a new leaf at a rapid pace. My Adasonii has been growing like mad ever since I’ve repotted him into a self watering pot. I do hate the spider mites though! I routinely spray it down w neem oil and he still puts out new leaves. He is kept away from my more expensive collection though…bc of those damn mites lol
A little late to the convo but.... My begonias are definitely the hardest. I also really struggle with my ripple peperomia. They hate me. The unexpected easiest so far has been my jewel orchid -macodes petola. It’s living it’s best life and I do very little.
I have had mine for five months or so now! It's doing well, but it definitely becomes unhappy if you don't water it on a regular cycle. I think it appreciates humidity/misting.
I have no luck with pileas either 😭 it went down to. Stump, now I have two little leaves so better than nothing! I have her about a foot back from the window in 70% humidity. It’s slow going but I want a big beautiful plant like I see others having!
i've been struggling with mine for over a year, leaves turn yellow and drop off, new growth produces leaves five times smaller than original. I'm finally going to try fertiliser (i'm a bad plant parent for not fertilising before, but I worry i'm going to over fertilise and over toxify..)
I love this style of video! I’m having a hard time with my fittonia ☹️ I have a fancy humidifier coming from amazon so I hope the humidity brings it back. Her leaves are crinkly and starting to fold up which makes me sad. I hope they can bounce back and look as beautiful as your fittonia!
My Adansonii is giving me grief too! I’m still in the learning phase with it for sure but I feel like it’s constantly wanting a drink and yellowing leaves! My other tough plant is my Alocasia Tiny Dancer..,. When I bought it it had 5 leaves and a new one on the way.... since then most of those original leaves dropped but I am getting new growth.... so I’m it’s just acclimating to my care
I have the hardest time with monstera andosonii as well I’m on my second one now. It’s happy in my bathroom cus more humidity 🌿❤️😊 beautiful plant but very hard to care for me lol
I was thinking about ordering brandtianum and mamei, watched your video partially, ordered both and finished your video just now. Now I‘m a little anxious about the Brandtianum situation :D Very informative though! Thanks a lot!
I want a P. M x V! I have heard they are easy. My P. Melano is so easy. I giggled about you saying the humidity went down in the bathroom. My Anthuriums get anywhere from 15%-80% throughout the year... they are all happy! Your Phil Mamei is gorgeous - mine is still a baby.
So funny, my best/worst are almost the complete opposite of yours! Hindu rope just doesn’t want to grow for me at all! I’ve had it for over half a year and it really hasn’t changed at all. I got a fittonia as a gift and nothing I did made it happy so it eventually died :( My pilea peppermoides on the other hand is thriving! She’s shooting out so many babies and getting so big.
Your right Becca, the easiest are Monstera Deliciosa as long as we don't overwater or underwater them. I've seen a lot of people having problems with their Pilea Peperomoides and Monstera Sp Peru , my Pilea Peperomoides have a mind of its own so I'll just leave her alone 😁 and my Monstera Peru didn't do anything for a long time but now it's started growing. Good luck on the Brandi but pls don't give up on it. 👍
How is the orchid pots working for you? Do you recommend it for all the houseplants? Thanks for another great vid. It was nice seeing Mamei as an easy plant to care for.
I really love them! It’s a bit harder with a less chunky mix because the soil comes out the side holes, but I still really like it and would definitely recommend it for all plants.
Hindu rope is my easiest as well. I went overboard last year and got several.. they're all great and finally blooming. I gave my Brandi and Peru away... ugh those divas
Becca, where do you find the bigger orchid pots? I can only find up to 6 inches. I started using them after seeing you using them and my plants love them!
Ahhhh I have a monstera deliciosa!! I've been wanting a Thai constellation one for awhile now. I can never find any at my local nurseries or stores, just online 😔
Omygosh I thought I was the only one who struggled w my monstera adansonii because every other UA-camr has theirs so full and makes it look easy. I bough him online, I don't know if it started with root rot or it was my fault & now he is propagating in a jar as the very last resort. And he still doesn't look well. Thanks for the vid, misery loves company.
Chris mine is sick too and I really struggle to find any advice about it! It just has leaves that turn yellow and have to be cut off, and that was when it was super dry so I stared watering more, but the problem persists.....
I absolutely love your description. . . "Tortellini pieces". That should have been coined as the original name. You are so entertaining . . . and your plants are too. Darryl
So I am here over a month late - new subscriber hello! - but I am wondering if your Brandi has an infection of some kind? This can cause all of the leaves to drop off of a plant. Usually the lower leaves are affected first and drop off (although if it has flowers they can be the first sign, followed by lower leaves), slowly moving up the plant. You may notice some yellow spots too on the leaves before they just drop off.
The whole brandi is worrisome for me. It's a wishlist plant and I don't want to have to stress over a plant 😬 My most difficult plant is a Epipremnum Aureum . That's right. A freaking 'easy beginner' Golden pothos. They just kick my ass. I swear. I've killed SO many of them!!
My neon pothos & philodendron are complete divas - they exhaust me. My Micans & Hoyas are me easiest. Except my Chelsea which is always wrinkled, even after it’s watered.
for me the hardest plants are ficuses (looking at you fiddle leaf fig), string of pearls, maidenhair ferns, and even aloe and tradescantia. The aloe just won't take root and the tradescantia die off as soon as i transfer them to soil. i think i just bought a batch of bad soil.
Hi! Why do you use orchid pots (plastic), and where do you buy them? My easiest plants are tradescantias, Zz's, philodendrons, certain sansevieria, my aglaonema Maria, cast iron plant and pothos. The divas red siam, red emerald agleonemas, marantas and my peperomia obtusifolia (which I finally think I've figured out). I've killed snake plants, calatheas, pileas and all other draceana. My arrowhead illusions are SO dramatic...🤦. Still love my plants 🌱💚
My harder plants would be the fittonia and English Ivy I used to have that died during quaratine and my coffee plants and soleirolia soleirolii, I don't know why but they don't do super well with me. :( With easy plants all the plants in the Calathea family do super well here!
I feel like the regale just went into post shipping shock, the leaves growing in your conditions will be the ones that will probably stay for a while now! :) Beautiful new leaf!
My mom got me a red-veined Fittonia for Christmas and at first I was like... eh, but now I love it! I think partially that's due to you and how much you love your Fittonias ❤ #fittoniaclub
oh no...your brandi! I hope it works out... I just bought one so I guess I'll keep touching the leaves. Thanks for sharing that. Now that i see what is going on with some plants of yours...I'm getting scared for mine Wow! That anthurium Regale. 😍 It's so pretty! I'm having issues with my Hoya Wayetii. Not sure what her issue is but I moved her so hope fully she likes it better. I can't figure her out. sigh
Be super careful trying to propagate the peru. It rots so easily and it takes forever to grow. If you do cut it let it callous and put it in soil in a really bright place
What do you think your problem with the adansonii was? The mites? Asking Bc mine just kept getting yellowing leaves that wanted to fall off and browning tips too which is confusing. So I panic put it in water and now it’s thriving 🤨 Does this mean I was under watering? Or is it just growing season saving me? Hah
Yeah I think it was definitely the spider mites this time. But previously, I’ve had issues due to lack of humidity which sounds like it could have been your problem too! Agh who knows, really, adansonii kill me 😂
Thanks for sharing. Question for you - do you know why my Hindu rope is unraveling? It looks like a regular carnosa now. It's healthy and even flowering but the leaves are flattening.
I have a bunch of calatheas that are thriving, even though I pay no attention to them with humidity etc., this seems to surprise people. But I can't manage to keep a simple thyme plant alive in my windowsill garden!
Ok, this video gives be hope because I’ve been refraining from getting some of the more harder to find (in the US) philodendrons like the Mamei because I didn’t know if it would adapt well to my plant set up and if it would be too difficult and needy and now I feel like I can definitely take care of one!👏😊 @beccadelaplants
I have also had some major issues with my monstera adansonii.. I have put it in low humidity and high humidity, low light and high light and nothing seems to make it happy! Any tips?
Agh I can’t figure it out! It’s not very vocal. I had mine in a greenhouse for a very long time to recover and I’ve only recently taken it out. It gets super dappled morning light + I water when it’s 100% dry! Probably not the right care and I’m sure she’ll end up back in the greenhouse 😂
Using your hands when you talk is actually an awesome trait! It shows you're confident and trustworthy :) Also, your genuine excitement and love for your plants inspires me to be a better plant mom and PlantTuber!
Interesting, monsters adansonii are unnecessarily easy for me, I purchased a few cuttings and now I own two decent size pots full and keep having to cut it down, I’d like to slow it’s growth a little lol also I don’t fertilize
Omg thank you SO much! Just found your UA-cam channel and I'm LOVING your videos!!! 🥰❤🌱 I can't believe you replied! First time for me having a youtuber reply to one of my comments 😅 thanks for your time! I'll go watch that video now thank you again! 😇😊
I have almost killed my Hoya carnosa compacta so many times. I get the light wrong and it turns yellow or the leaves shrivel up and it half dies🙄! I gave it too my mom and she has no idea what it is but somehow it thrives with her I don’t get it, but for me not an easy plant
"My 3rd fittonia, no 5th, no 8th" that gave me a chuckle. It's so interesting seeing how some plants are easier in some countries and harder in others. English ivy, ficus elastica & monstera (tho I think that's easy everywhere) I find easy to look after. I killed a lipstick plant and am still baffled why, pilea cadieri, baby's tears were impossible to figure out for me, RIP. 😂
😂😂 I’ve lost track! Yes definitely depends on your region what is easy and also what is accessible. I’ve never had a lipstick plant.. I’m not sure about them!
I found a hindu rope hoya in Walmart on mothers day in an 8i nch hanging basket for $14. Your Pilea looks like its in too big of a pot and needs more sun light
I always feel guilty and embarrassed when a plant starts going downhill (or in the case of ferns goes rapidly downhill) but its nice to see not everyone is perfect at caring for plants. We’re all learning together
Dude ferns hate me, I get it
Hey Karl. Who woulda thought I’d see you here?!
oh my god don’t even get me started on ferns 🙄
Ferns. They either love people or hate people. I’m also on the hate side. 😭
I love ur Hoya Compacta. It would look perfect in one of those head or face planters. Would make a great hair do.
Yes it would!!! I agree. 😄
That would just look so cute
I got one yesterday on marketplace and it has mealy bugs.. ugg
Don’t give up on the Brandi! I put my Brandi on a moss poll and gave it more humidity and it seems to really like it. I hope that helps.
Ill need to try that too then thanks
I definitely need to spend more time on her!! I’m motivated to do that now haha 🙌🏼
how much humidity do you give it? I just got mine few weeks ago and repotted it with a moss pole as some of the leaves weren't looking so hot and noticed a bit of brown tips ugh
I just throw them in my terrarium and it grows so fast !!

Good morning! Fittonias are my worst. I'm sure it's my fault, but they are just so needy! On the flip side, I have a huge calathea collection. Go figure. Lol
They can be needy for sure!!
I killed 3 fittonia last season! I'm debating if I should try again.
Your Hindu rope is stunning I just got mine a month ago I hope in a year it'll be as lush as yours
I definitely think it will!
Your right Becca, most plant problems come from watering, either too much or not enough. Figuring out which one is the hard part. 💚
Absolutely!!
Yes put the Brandtianum on a pole! I got mine last year in fall or winter from Steve’s Leaves with all big beautiful leaves and it was like a fake plant forever because it never changed. Worst: Crotons! They go into shock so easily & drop their leaves. And it's so disheartening. They're beautiful aholes.
Honestly mine is one of my easiest plants, just sitting in a window and being watered when its droopy 🤷🏼♀️
Agreed!!! It’s such a diva mine has her very own humidifier.
My neighbor has a croton and I’ve seen it go through like 5 life cycles dropping and growing back leaves 😫
Oh God Crotons. It's a love hate relationship we have. Super easy to water, he always lets me know but gosh any moving = dropping leaves and spider mites are just the worst on this guy

Victoria Radke ooh, I’ll have to pop mine in my terrarium and see how it does! Thank you!
That’s good to know about the terrarium!!
Someone might have already said for the pilea, but they need a support pole when they get tall
Hindu rope is my easiest as well. I went overboard last year and got several.. they're all great and finally blooming. I gave my Brandi and Peru away... ugh those divas

Hmm! That’s so strange about your Peru! My pops out a leaf every week! I have it in 100% coir right next to a east window
Love those big leaf plants the most. Yours are beautiful. Where you get the plastic plant house? Humidity house? Lol.
It’s from amazon!! :) nothing too special.
Very interesting! Oddly, your worst are my best/easiest.
Haha! It’s funny how that happens 😆
It's a wishlist plant and I don't want to have to stress over a plant 😬
My most difficult plant is a Epipremnum Aureum . That's right. A freaking 'easy beginner' Golden pothos. They just kick my ass. I swear. I've killed SO many of them!!
Yeah it’s definitely one I stress about 😂 agh man sometimes those “easy” plants will get ya!
Omg - my pilea peperomioides did the same thing, glad it wasn't just me haha
😂
Mine hate me. I saw they need tons of fertilizer, so I'm going to get some today
My Brandi is problem plant too. Threw it in a grow wall planter with micans, to thrive or die.
Hahaha love that ultimatum 😂
Agh I’ve never tried English ivy! I have a feeling me and that plant wouldn’t agree :/
I feel like the regale just went into post shipping shock, the leaves growing in your conditions will be the ones that will probably stay for a while now! :) Beautiful new leaf!
Yeah for sure! Thankfully this leaf is a real beauty - so glad!
@@BeccaDeLaPlants And unsure of when you filmed this but no doubt the leaf has probably grown significantly since, right?
My mom got me a red-veined Fittonia for Christmas and at first I was like... eh, but now I love it! I think partially that's due to you and how much you love your Fittonias ❤ #fittoniaclub
Ahh!! Love that! ☺️
my mother killed mine by overwatering XD it had beautiful white veins similar to the one in the video
More content to binge watch, yaaay!
☺️☺️
oh no...your brandi! I can't figure her out. sigh
Yeah definitely keep an eye on it!! It’s a bit of a troublemaker. Hopefully your wayetii feels better soon 🙌🏼
Cactus: You haven’t watered me for 6 months? Nvm, I don’t need no human.
Stromanthe: You forgot to mist me today imma just die.
If as you suggest, watering is your problem then perhaps a water probe would help you?
That might be helpful!
Be super careful trying to propagate the peru. It rots so easily and it takes forever to grow. If you do cut it let it callous and put it in soil in a really bright place
Agh yes they do take forever to prop :( makes me sad!!
I'll have to check out your fittonia video. Mine does not like me at all, haha
Haha aww ;(( they’re hit or miss!
Where did you get the pot for your Philodendron Mamei? It’s beautiful!
Thank you! I got it from Greenspaces.ID :)
Omg lol the POT!!!!! I got it from Concrete Botanical www.concretebotanical.com/paintedpots/la-baby so sorry 😂
Becca De La Plants 😆 I was looking at the website and thinking they must be out of stock. Thank you for linking it! No need to be sorry!
Agh who knows, really, adansonii kill me 😂
Hardest: succulents and cacti. Easiest: maranthas and philodendrons
How did you get your Monstera D to climb with such long stems. I have one and the stems are all different length which makes it hard to tie to a pole.
Thanks for sharing. Question for you - do you know why my Hindu rope is unraveling? It looks like a regular carnosa now. It's healthy and even flowering but the leaves are flattening.
Oh no! I actually have no clue - I also have one that is sort of unraveling and I’m not sure why.
I have a bunch of calatheas that are thriving, even though I pay no attention to them with humidity etc., this seems to surprise people. But I can't manage to keep a simple thyme plant alive in my windowsill garden!
That’s wild!! Calathea are definitely difficult for me so I’m also surprised they love you so much 😂 but that’s definitely a good thing!
My Brandi started looking a hot mess and I couldn’t deal. It had to go lol I’ve tried the pilea three times and it just does not work for me.
Haha some plants are just “NOPE!”
Becca De La Plants exactly. Lol nope to calatheas. Nope to Fittonia. Nope to watermelon peperomia. And pilea peppermoides. Just nope. Lol
Totally understand that! In my experience mamei is super super easy!
Yellowing leaves often warn about overwatering
I have also had some major issues with my monstera adansonii.. I have put it in low humidity and high humidity, low light and high light and nothing seems to make it happy! Any tips?
Agh I can’t figure it out! It’s not very vocal. I had mine in a greenhouse for a very long time to recover and I’ve only recently taken it out. It gets super dappled morning light + I water when it’s 100% dry! Probably not the right care and I’m sure she’ll end up back in the greenhouse 😂
Leca.. mine is growing crazy and super easy now.
Where have you guys found the cheapest place to buy Leca is? I haven’t been able to find it anywhere in Utah!
Where did you get your monsters albo??! I’ve been wanting one for years 😢
Where did you get that cute lil greenhouse in the background?
My Brandi is surprisingly difficult too!
Agh I had no idea they would be!
Using your hands when you talk is actually an awesome trait! It shows you're confident and trustworthy :) Also, your genuine excitement and love for your plants inspires me to be a better plant mom and PlantTuber!
Oooh I had no idea! That makes me feel better about it ☺️👍🏼 thank you!
Becca De La Plants my pleasure! 💕
Great job Becca :)
❤️ thanks Julie!!
Don't stifle your hand talking. I love it!
Haha thank you!! ❤️
Interesting, monsters adansonii are unnecessarily easy for me, I purchased a few cuttings and now I own two decent size pots full and keep having to cut it down, I’d like to slow it’s growth a little lol also I don’t fertilize
That’s really awesome!!
About your monstera Peru, could it be a lack of nitrogen?
Hoya Hindu Rope is easy until you get mealy bugs. They're pretty much impossible to get rid of without breaking the leaves ughhhhhh :(((
Ahh I once spotted a single mealy on my smaller Hindu rope and it scared me 😭
Where did you find that super perfect and cute little greenhouse? 😍
It’s from amazon! :) I share about it in this video ua-cam.com/video/H4j3TX373DY/v-deo.html
Aghhh yeah admittedly I haven’t moved it from this one spot the whole time Ive had it 😂 so I don’t want to know what would happen if I did move it lol
Can’t stop staring at your cheekbones
Is that a greenhouse in the back? Where did you get it? :)
I got it on amazon! I made a few vids about it, more info here: m.ua-cam.com/video/H4j3TX373DY/v-deo.html
Have trouble with my monstera adensonii too 😤
Love your plant babies, but I keep getting black spots & then it gets a little yellow spot, 😟then I have to cut it off. Has that ever happened to you?
Oh no! That sounds like bacteria
Does anyone know the difference between P. mamei and P. sodiroi? I cant tell 😭
They’re so similar!! Haha
Did u have to ship them back from Cali?
Weird. My fittonia just started yellowing and idk why. It's been sooo easy
How long did it take u to grow monstera adansonii at the state? I just got one few days ago. Thanks 😊
I got the plant as a few leaves about 7 months ago
I found a hindu rope hoya in Walmart on mothers day in an 8i nch hanging basket for $14.
Your Pilea looks like its in too big of a pot and needs more sun light
That’s so awesome!
Me too! I was so happy. Such a beautiful plant for a STEAL!
