I've seen too many youtubers talk about the attention span problem in a demeaning or straight up degrading manner, even towards their own audience. In reality, it's not kids faults that it's a problem, it's the attention economy's fault.
It's a real problem and a lot of the root cause is that people frequently make content that somehow finds a way to be condescending to children. Take a look at UA-cam gaming stuff marketed at kids. It's fast, uninformative, and doesn't provoke meaningful thought. It's allowed to happen because it makes money for the platform.

The Aquarium is defiinitely the standout here, but the tight theming of the video naturally makes me want to download the others as well, if only to recreate the buildup to it. Also, just wanna say I really appreciate that you make low-impact content without misstepping into ASMR territory; there are so many videos that are very much worth watching but end up just making my skin crawl, and wholly stress me out lmao. Watching this made me realise how we don't actually have many games with "going deeper" theme (or at least popular ones). Sure, you could bring original Half-Life as an example, but it's never the focus. Hell, the only popular ones are Subnautica and Little Nightmares, where you are more or less stuck in these enviroments and in order to progress/escape you need to go deeper and deeper. Even some games with this theme barely encourage you with curiosity, example being Barotrauma. You go deeper and deeper underwater towards the lowest point of the ocean while the creatures slowly get more and more aggresive, but there isn't much to explore: the paths your submarine travels through are basically zig-zagging corridors with an occasional open space, a dead-end branch or drop to an abyss. Caves have little to no variety, and abandoned structures such as stations, wrecks of other subs, beacon stations are all pre-generated with only loot and enemies being different
Oh yeah, it's an under-saturated market for sure. Maybe vids like this one will inspire some people to make games like that. Or maybe that's just me having a big ego.

I love seeing these “documentaries” of people’s creations. It’s so cool looking at stuff like these maps with an open mind, not judging if they are good or bad, just looking at them for what they are.

So, thank you for making this!
Hello Logan, I discovered your youtube channel just today. And I already love it, the calming voice, explorations of atmospheric maps both on Garry's Mod (which turns to be my most favorite game) and VRchat. Games running on Source Engine always had this indescribable vibe, I'm from Eastern Europe myself so most locations look familiar to me. There aren't many videos yet but I'm already loving it. Wish you all the best!
These videos are so comforting, they’re such a refreshing break from the fast paced and crazy videos that are so commonplace now. Don’t get me wrong, they are entertaining but sometimes I love that i can watch these videos and just sit back and relax. You have comedy and don’t take these 100% serious but you also aren’t over the top, a perfect mix if you ask me. Keep up the great videos!
I'm in love with your commentary. You keep things casual but manage to interlace deep and interesting topics that spin off of the map, and I feel interested when you talk about anecdotes or tidbits about yourself even though this is my first video! These 35 minutes felt like 10.
Found you on a whim and I am sold. This is the kind of map exploration type content I enjoy, just touring the map and commenting on it. Really enjoy this video and I’ll surely enjoy the others.
22:00 As other commenters have stated, caves are most definitely not silent. In most cases I've seen and read of, it actually seems to be quite the opposite; The deeper you go, the louder the caves. One of the most famous examples I suggest looking up is the Kola Superdeep Borehole.
3:40 I used to go to the dentist as a kid exclusively at a Sears in my hometown. My parents used to take us really early before the actual store and we’d have to travel through the automotive garage and a back access hallway to get to the appointment. It was creepy even before they went out of business.
Huh just found this but this is something I've done for about a year or so now. Just downloading random maps off the workshop and exploring. Cool to see others are doing the same and sharing the experience
It's always such a pleasure to see these videos crop up in my subscriptions feed, and I'm excited to see where the series goes from here. The commentary and analysis is wonderful as always.
So glad I was randomly recommended this channel because it perfectly scratches that itch of exploring random or strange worlds. Much like The Librarian or VRChat world showcases. Excited to see what’s in store in the future!
found your channel through this video, and i love the vibes, your attitude, the comedy, the pacing, the mid-video coffee ramble… wonderful video. i will certainly be checking out more of your stuff!
Hi, recently found your channel and it reminds me of the librarian, good stuff! I have a suggestion I'd like to share - I think it would be nice to leave some room to breathe and not cut so much of the silences as I feel that it adds to the chill and cozy atmosphere to have some silent moments to just absorb what's happening on screen for a bit. Keep up the good content!
4:13 large companies avoid taking things when they move, because often it's more expensive to move old equipment then buy new equipment, if equipment is 1500$ a person, the company still has enough money to throw at the issue.
Your anecdotes are phenomenal, matched with a wonderful cadence of speech and a calming voice. Found one of my new favorite content creators, keep it up dude!
this is the first of your videos i've seen, and i've gotta say i like the vibes. reminds me a little bit of Freeman's Mind with you just rambling and talking to yourself while exploring around.
these videos are seriously so comfy, i know you brought up coffee but that is really the best comparison - it's like you're sitting down with a hot drink to listen to an explorer talk about their most recent adventure! these really hearken back to a near completely bygone era of youtube
I can't tell you why but this video was just class! The way you commentate and give your own insights as you walk around made me feel as though I was there with you exploring these maps in person ahah! Keep up the awesome vids man, love it!
I feel like this is a good introduction to "why you should play gmod" since gmod is basically anything unimaginable and this game mode, i call "Urban exploring with weapons from arc9"
i've been playing Gmod since version 8, so i don't really play much anymore. but videos like this make me want to get on and explore some of the cool and weird maps i still have.
I love how half the time he seems serious/professional in a weird way. Because the other half is: "You know what *_has_* faded? The screen. For this next transition."
Some of this reminds me of when I was a pizza delivery guy and would have to go to giant apartment complexes at 11pm, the worst one required a keycard to get into the first floor so when I had a customer on 1st floor I had to take the stair shaft to the 3rd floor then find my way to the indoor parking garage and go down until I found a maintenance hall that led down to the 1st, it was such shit but also mysterious
12:15 Damn it man I had this video on in the background as I worked on something and that comment caught me so off guard while I was working I couldn’t help but take a second to recover from laughing from the absurd statement I just heard Fucking shit grippers
Oh man, I've been looking for somebody to explore gmod maps that wasn't me I'm very excited, love the details, seeing all the corners documenting the map
your videos are actually so fucking awesome, like man this is one of the few videos that I'd keep on the background while doing something and sometimes even break my attention just for the video
I often just let my mind wander and think randomly. Videos like this I usually turn my screen off and listen to the commentary. Quite often during my listening I just start thinking about other things.
Amazing content. Relaxed, explorative and comedic commentary. Appreciate the no-jumpscares and heads up it really makes it easy to watch late at night without worrying I'll have a heart attack. Easiest sub in a while, thanks. Edit: I absolutely love exploring games. Visiting every corner of the world- trying to spot every little detail or uncover some secret, it's fascinating to me. One thing that holds me back from exploring Gmod myself is because I despise jumpscares so much. I'd gladly watch other people do it for me though. I'm hoping to see more videos like this ❤
as someone with 1800 hours on the game and a big fan here are some suggestions :D (apologies of one of these were featured in your previous videos, i just have alot of reccomendations) first pick would be gm_fork and gm_boreas, made by the same creator, THE outdoors map, they are both massive, with lots of cool points of interest, boreas even has a missile silo open maps where something CLEARLY isnt right rp_necro_forest_revamped gm_russia gm_vacant_industry (HIGHLY recomend, one of my all time favourite maps) gm_abbysalplain (takes place very deep underwater) Autumn 2001 Ashpit (reccomend, thick with atmosphere, lots of secrets to find & figure out ;D) gm_shambles gm_chaparral_night Ocean at Rest rp_desolation gm_void_edge maps where something clearly isnt right, but more linear gm_descent (by Aleks, not Stubs) Places from your dreams Mismanagement Bro said he knew a spot (thats the actual name im not kidding, it wouldve been perfect for this video though, since its very deep) Thats ALOT, i really hope you include some of these in your videos :D finally, this doesnt fit into any category gm_construct 13 Beta its just a construct map but it has alot of stuff hiding under the surface, enough to deserve its own video, youll see what i mean :)
The thing at 6:50 is probably a secure reserve. I work at a department store, and we have a similar looking (though slightly bigger cage) out the back amongst the reserve shelves. It's for keeping very valuable items, like consoles. Fun fact! Not too long ago, someone entered our store, darted into the back of house and CLIMBED UP into the secure reserve . They nabbed a PS5 and walked out the door. No one checked them on the way out, cuz they're not supposed to be stealable lol. We call that guy Spider-man. Honestly, I think Spider-Man earned that console. Anyways, we've now sealed off the top of the cage. Clearly this abandoned Sears had the same experience.

You have comedy and don’t take these 100% serious but you also aren’t over the top, a perfect mix if you ask me. Keep up the great videos!
Thank you! You can definitely look forward to more stuff like this.
I'm in love with your commentary. You keep things casual but manage to interlace deep and interesting topics that spin off of the map, and I feel interested when you talk about anecdotes or tidbits about yourself even though this is my first video! These 35 minutes felt like 10.
Goon layers you say?
another great video, keep em coming dude
Thanks homie :)
Found you on a whim and I am sold. This is the kind of map exploration type content I enjoy, just touring the map and commenting on it. Really enjoy this video and I’ll surely enjoy the others.
YOO OVERGROOWWWTTHH! I always wanted to play that as a kid
seeing overgrowth gameplay is crazy. i remember finding out about idubbz when he made videos playing it
22:00 As other commenters have stated, caves are most definitely not silent. In most cases I've seen and read of, it actually seems to be quite the opposite; The deeper you go, the louder the caves. One of the most famous examples I suggest looking up is the Kola Superdeep Borehole.
I love the casual talks and the information about your day or yourself. Super chill super cozy horror
just love this level of curiosity and imagination with a perfectly balanced sense of humor. brilliant video
3:40 I used to go to the dentist as a kid exclusively at a Sears in my hometown. My parents used to take us really early before the actual store and we’d have to travel through the automotive garage and a back access hallway to get to the appointment. It was creepy even before they went out of business.
That is so cursed.
Huh just found this but this is something I've done for about a year or so now. Just downloading random maps off the workshop and exploring. Cool to see others are doing the same and sharing the experience
This is my first Logan video. Instantly subscribed.
Welcome aboard :)
that "take your time to think for a bit" speech was wonderful, grabbed my heart to subscribe you just for that
great humor too! twas a very nice video
18:32, thank you for that pause. It felt helpful in a way.
found your channel through this video, and i love the vibes, your attitude, the comedy, the pacing, the mid-video coffee ramble… wonderful video. i will certainly be checking out more of your stuff!
god I love this series, these maps are so fascinating and somehow you always have interesting commentary even on the most mundane of areas
I love that you have the little figures unannounced in the footage sometimes.
Thanks for the tip, I'll consider it. Hope you had fun.
4:13 large companies avoid taking things when they move, because often it's more expensive to move old equipment then buy new equipment, if equipment is 1500$ a person, the company still has enough money to throw at the issue.
That's a good explanation, I hadn't thought about the business side of it.
3:28 Shadow behind the crate maze.
Your anecdotes are phenomenal, matched with a wonderful cadence of speech and a calming voice. Found one of my new favorite content creators, keep it up dude!
Aw, thanks, welcome aboard ❤
That moment in the cabin was really nice actually, I feel like I could listen to you talk for hours.
Brutal moose mentioned! This video also feels super freeman's mind inspired in the random little rants and side tangents, I love it
I really love your commentary! A lot of your jokes got me, and your chat by the fireplace was very nice.
Clicked on the video and had memories flood me when you showed Overgrowth gameplay, wowie dude
18:33 I listened and let my mind wander, it was pretty nice actually, I should do I more often Thanks for the reminder
I like to watch these videos for comfort, I like these long form videos btw.
Sometimes after a workout I listen to these to wind down.
The little quips, rambles, etc add so much to these videos :)
god that "hey wait a sec" bit in the aquarium was SO good. great presentation of these and i loved your gentle commentary
this is the first of your videos i've seen, and i've gotta say i like the vibes. reminds me a little bit of Freeman's Mind with you just rambling and talking to yourself while exploring around.
bros gonna go wild when he discovers urbex
this feels like the type of video I would randomly stumble upon at 2:14 am
this series needs more attention, you've got such a damn good sense of humor. thank you for making content, awesome skeleton man :3
Thank you for watching. Share with your friends :)
these videos are seriously so comfy, i know you brought up coffee but that is really the best comparison - it's like you're sitting down with a hot drink to listen to an explorer talk about their most recent adventure! these really hearken back to a near completely bygone era of youtube
Yeah, I think my videos echo the old eras of UA-cam that I grew up on. We're going back.
Nice to be back again.
I HAVE BEEN SEARCHING FOR THAT FIRST MAP FOR LITERAL YEARS. THANK GOD I FOUND THIS VIDEO AND THANK YOU FOR MAKING IT
Usually i get annoyed when creators keep on yapping, but with you, it felt calming. Like listening to your uncle talk about things from his life.
I can't tell you why but this video was just class! The way you commentate and give your own insights as you walk around made me feel as though I was there with you exploring these maps in person ahah! Keep up the awesome vids man, love it!
Thank you for watching! Yeah, I like the 'virtual tour guide' bit a lot, and I often lean into it.
Absolutely incredible vibes on the video. You’re a natural and funny entertainer. Keep it up man you just got a subscriber
This video is great, plus I love that theres Vintage Story music in the Outro, just magnificent
The left behind stuff is actually very accurate, urbex locations often have many old supplies that were expensive but left for one reason or another.
Pausing and sitting on the couch to just start rambling about coffee.
I love this video man.
the little coffee fireside chat was oddly relaxing. lovely video, very calming vibes
I love the Feel like im watching a "Joe Pera Talks with You". Keep the awesome Job!
Not to get parasocial but I love the chill "hanging out with a friend" vibe you bring to these videos, I can't wait for more of these.
I feel like this is a good introduction to "why you should play gmod" since gmod is basically anything unimaginable
and this game mode, i call "Urban exploring with weapons from arc9"
I do like some extra spooks like the feeling of being watched and random noises even there’s no one around, and some of these are great
This is part of my new top 10 videos to rewatch, now. This video is great!! Keep it up :3
Thanks!
i've been playing Gmod since version 8, so i don't really play much anymore. but videos like this make me want to get on and explore some of the cool and weird maps i still have.
I love how half the time he seems serious/professional in a weird way. Because the other half is: "You know what *_has_* faded? The screen. For this next transition."
I love gmod specifically because of the map making community. I adore maps like these!
That is so bizarre.
12:15
Damn it man I had this video on in the background as I worked on something and that comment caught me so off guard while I was working I couldn’t help but take a second to recover from laughing from the absurd statement I just heard
Fucking shit grippers
The freeman's mind train of thought dialogue to the incredible looking maps tour. Subbed
Oh man, I've been looking for somebody to explore gmod maps that wasn't me I'm very excited, love the details, seeing all the corners documenting the map
Had this randomly recommended to me and I love doing this exact thing, super cool video and great commentary!
your videos are actually so fucking awesome, like man this is one of the few videos that I'd keep on the background while doing something and sometimes even break my attention just for the video
I'm hoping to see more videos like this ❤
What map should I explore next?
as someone with 1800 hours on the game and a big fan here are some suggestions :D
(apologies of one of these were featured in your previous videos, i just have alot of reccomendations)
first pick would be
gm_fork and gm_boreas, made by the same creator, THE outdoors map, they are both massive, with lots of cool points of interest, boreas even has a missile silo
open maps where something CLEARLY isnt right
rp_necro_forest_revamped
gm_russia
gm_vacant_industry (HIGHLY recomend, one of my all time favourite maps)
gm_abbysalplain (takes place very deep underwater)
Autumn 2001
Ashpit (reccomend, thick with atmosphere, lots of secrets to find & figure out ;D)
gm_shambles
gm_chaparral_night
Ocean at Rest
rp_desolation
gm_void_edge
maps where something clearly isnt right, but more linear
gm_descent (by Aleks, not Stubs)
Places from your dreams
Mismanagement
Bro said he knew a spot (thats the actual name im not kidding, it wouldve been perfect for this video though, since its very deep)
Thats ALOT, i really hope you include some of these in your videos :D
finally, this doesnt fit into any category
gm_construct 13 Beta
its just a construct map but it has alot of stuff hiding under the surface, enough to deserve its own video, youll see what i mean :)
Medieval!
muhichfishing
you should do more abstract maps
@@necrotafeio I might. They're just harder to talk about.
Thank you so much for ensuring no jump scares. It really means a lot.
I was so close to fall asleep to your yapping, enjoyed your yapping it was lovely
2 days ago i was watching this while on break at work
I really did sit there and listen to the ambient hum of the theater speakers at 18:00, thank you
You're welcome, hope you had a good day at work.
