Networking Event tips: #1 Have a plan : meet X number of people #2 Keep moving : dont feel bad to cut off a conv & move on to other #3 Follow up : the real networking start after the event. When you get someone business card, write down where/when you met + short details on the card Networking in Life: #1 Be Interested Ask why/how they got started #2 Look for opportunities for other people Shows you're doing sth and thinking about them, this will reinforce them to do the same thing. #3 Find a Mentee to share your knowledge & being helpful. To solidify your expertise and personal brand
I have one good tip and one bad tip! I'll start with the bad: half a glass of wine (if you're of age and it's a more casual event) helps a little :) Obviously, using alcohol to alter yourself to be able to talk to other people is not a good thing, but a littttttle liquid courage doesn't hurt - **shrug** And then the good tip: find a topic outside of the work and connect that way first. For example, you're at a conference or event for consulting and you see someone with a Whole Foods tote bag. Tell them about that one time you saw a disheveled celebrity buying produce there and was shocked to see them in their PJ's at 4 in the afternoon. It lightens the mood, pulls people out of the mundanity of the situation, and maybe even makes them laugh before you ask them for a business card or congratulate them on a successful panel discussion! I've done this a few times at conferences and garnered a few nicknames along the way :) ANYWAY, another beautiful video!
I'm so amazed with the progress of your channel. I started watching your vlogs back in London and you've grown and developed your channel so much. Not only that, you have such a calm and chill vibe to your videos, I love it.
kchoi You’re videos have been great every since. I especially like the topics you pick for your videos, very applicable to future or present careers. I’ve been doing a lot of weird major changing and deciding what I want to do, these videos really help. Thank you!
Networking events aren't for me but your tips sound good for people who find them helpful! I think networking for me is less intense and more like, volunteer and do sports and meet up groups and make friends and network through them
Hi! Kristina, thanks so much for sharing about 'NETWORKING', and your experience in relative to understanding your point of views about how to Network? Which of course is one of the most important steps toward success that has evolved in timely fashion in most of the field today. I used to think about what exactly is Networking? How it works? What are the right motivation & goal to achieve it? Yes, I think in my opinion Self-doubts & Fears controls our behaviours are one of the reason that held us back going into Network Events. So, we need to develop that Self-confidence and courage first to approach people in any sense you are going there for a reason and purpose of network. Networking is give and take moments and it is all about being open to new conversation, new people and learning from each other and building that long-term & lasting relationships. I really liked how you put together this very important subject into the most simple thoughts with examples. I get to learn something new about Networking! Keep post until then, Stay Well as Well Connected! Cheers!
Networking events are great for people seeking new opportunities. The main key is to be CONFIDENT. people appreciate talking with a confident person. But be carreful, there is a fine line between confidence and arrogance.
Networking Events: 1:11 Have a plan 2:15 Keep moving 3:23 Follow up Networking in Life: 4:07 Be interested 5:00 Look for opportunities for other people 5:39 Find a mentee
Really appreciate this as it's very informative. Love the part where you share what to ask if we're quite uninterested with the other person's interest, also the part where you advise about looking out for opportunities for other people. Just to chip in: I just resigned from my position about two weeks ago (I know it's a bad-timing because of the high probability of job recession due to COVID-19, but I'm bold with my decision tho) and now attempting to be a freelancer for editing, proofreading and translation services. Hopefully, I'll figure the way and be continuously motivated in doing this. Thanks for the wonderful content, Kristina! :)

@@bykchoi that's sweet of you to say but I'm kinda competitive in nature. Looks like I'll have to develop a structured framework to solve the #1stInTheClass problem at hand 😬
