    In this video, I show professional massage therapists how to identify and massage the "flexor hallicus longus" that might be the cause of "foot arch pain." Deep tissue massage on the bottom of the foot can bring relief to soreness and pain in the arch.

    Thank you for sharing this information. I'm 74 yrs old, walk 3 miles up & down hills 3-5 times weekly and just last week developed slight pain in the arch. I'm working on my foot now. Hoping for a good outcome & another 20 yrs of walking 🤞

    I have really bad arch pain but this exercise didn’t do too much and it’s not very tender, it was nice to loosen it though. But could that mean it’s more that my hips aren’t where they should be? (Which is my suspicion as I have a lot of hip joint pain and my knees want to turn inward)
    Edit 2 months later: I’ve learned a lot since this comment. My hips are in fact out of alignment causing my knees to kind of bend towards each other, not enough to notice unless I’m paying close attention. Something that really helps is sitting in a chair with both feet on the ground, about shoulder width apart. Then taking my fist, or two and placing my fist on the inner part of my knee and squeezing both knee’s together as hard as I can, (like I’m making a knee-fist sandwich, to help imagine what I’m saying if I wasn’t clear). Often times, when my arches are particularly hurting I’ll feel a little click in my sit-bones, especially on the left as this is my particularly bad side. It’s the most bizarre thing to then start walking around because all my weight will be off my arch and back to the outer ridge of my foot, where it should be. So I hope someone finds this helpful!

    I have been having pain right in the spot you described ever since i was a little kid! I called it "My Bee Sting" because when i'd accidentally bend my foot a particular way while walking it felt like stepping barefoot on a bee and getting the stinger stuck in your foot- i didnt know how to describe the pain any other way. I'm now 36 and its bothered me on and off since childhood, but in the past 5-10 years the pains have gotten more frequent- eith periods of flare-ups. My big toe flexion has lost a lot of its strength. It trembles easily and gives out when trying to push the tip of my big toe into the ground. The distal joint of my big toe also now hyper-extends almost as much as it flexes. I've also been noticing that my big toe will rise upward on its own like its preparing for lift-off, or as if a helium balloon is tied to it! Happens whether im sitting, lying down or standing. I have to consciously remind myself to push my big toe back down toward the ground. I think this lifting is occuring at both the proximal and distal joints of the big toe, but the distal joint actually feels really rickety and crunches a lot with passive flexion and extension.
    Anyway my question is, are there any chronic disorders/diseases/conditions or structural abnormalities that would cause this to start in a kid so young- 4 or 5 years old and continue for several decades?

I just started walking around in Oofos slides and my FCL tendon hurt a little before but after a few days is quite painful (like you mentioned with people wearing orthotics). I have high arches. I got the slides to hopefully help with my achilles tendonitis. So should I not do orthotics or arch support slides?

    Hello doctor, I would like to ask. I have this vibrating-like feeling under my right foot on its left side (inner arch part), upon palpating the area, I can feel that it pulsates upon vibration, one time I walked it hurt like having something pinched inside (I don't know if it's cramps or something is really pinched)- it was painful that I had to stop walking. I've been having this for 2 days now. I tried massaging the area, it does help to be relieved for a while then the vibrations goes back. I mostly feel the vibrations when lying down or sitting. Stomping my feet makes it painful as well like that prickling feeling. No numbness nor burning sensation.
    I searched it up online, and said I may have pallesthesia and it can be a cause of compressed nerve or blocked artery. What could this really be? Want to do home remedies for it, what can I do?

    Hi Doug- I am a regular runner, and recently been experiencing a pain(off and on at times) along this tendon right behind the forefoot. Did a ton of research and kept getting steered to plantar fasciitis….but my heel is fine. Using KT tape for support…..helps a little…but still some pain. On the order of pain scale….pretty much a 2-3 on scale of 1-10..but it is there; I pay a lot attention to pain because it could indicate an oncoming injury, etc. I can walk - and I notice it - but it does not affect my gait. Thanks for video and stretch/massage information - hope it helps.

      You’re going to need to go get physical therapy massages like this then.
      I only get it occasionally and it seems bad then. I couldn’t imagine feeling that 24/7 so bad you can’t touch it. I can message that spot on the foot for several minutes then stay off it for an hour or two and then I’m back to pain free walking.
      I hope you get relief soon!

      Same here in both feet. I've been a truck driver for nearly 15 years and temporarily been working in a retail job as a overnight lumber stocker and being on that concrete floor is killing me. Been there almost a year and the job requires a lot of walking in steel toe boots and a lot of getting on and off equipment. It hurts so bad I have trouble sleeping during the day. It's like having stepped on a really big nail in both feet and walking around without pulling them out. The pain is absolutely unbearable and if I bump them in my sleep, it sends me through the roof and I'm on the floor nearly in tears from the pain. It sucks horribly.

      Probably, do you point your toes down when you press the pedal or do you keep your feet extended like he extends the patient's toes to see the tendon? If you stay in one position too long then it just gets repetitively used causing it to tighten up.

    • @heuteldaethelesaniel3501
      @heuteldaethelesaniel3501 3 роки тому +3

      @@beautyofficialtm04 it’s very complicated. Flat foot isn’t inherently bad, as most sub-saharan african athletes have flat foot, but they are still very athletic. It’s not the flat foot causing the issue, it’s the pronation of the foot, and it’s much easier for a person with flat feet (aka low arched feet) to develop pronation than a person with normal height foot arches. Vice versa, people with high arched feet (cavus foot, very common in white people) tend to develop supination of the foot. It has to do with posture a lot too.

    • @heuteldaethelesaniel3501
      @heuteldaethelesaniel3501 3 роки тому +3

      @@beautyofficialtm04 because a person with low arches tend to put pressure on the entire foot while standing, as it may be more comfortable, this posture can cause tendon and bone change position inside the foot, after some time, the pronation would occur. Pronation is generally what causes arch pain, especially during a long walk/run, because the ligaments and tendons cannot support the muscle and put the muscle in place. But for most athletes (who are generally not overweight and have very good posture), even though they have the flat feet, they don’t have the bad posture and habits to cause their feet pronated.
