  • Watch a professional massage therapist stretch patients wrist who has carpal tunnel syndrome. Doug Holland LMT also gives advice for how to perform home stretching for self relief of CTS.
    In this video:
    1) Internal and external rotation of the wrist.
    2) Plantar flextion and dorsi flextion of wrist.
    3) Home stretching examples
The idea is to bring relief to the tendon sheath under the flexor retinaculum. This will allow space for the carpal tendons to move and reduce inflammation.
Many people find relief from carpal tunnel syndrome from following these home stretch ideas.
Always ask your doctor before getting a massage.

This is a great stretch! I am 67 and used to be really hypermobile. Now, not so much which is normal. In October 2020 I had carpal tunnel surgery on both hands. My dominant right being more of a problem. Ever since the surgery my right had is unbelievably worse. Now my ring and middle fingers are numb and yet sensitive at the same time. My thumb, base , wrist area etc is crunchy and really painful. I’ve had some physio, it did very little. This exercise you have shown looks to be better. I’m really worried about getting the sensation back in my gingers and getting rid of the pain! Will I improve if I continue with these exercises and are there other things I should be doing? I do dip them in hot wax, which is very comforting! Thank you and a Merry Christmas 🎄 to you too!

Improving is hard to know. I always say, that trying something under a doctors supervision is better than not trying. Hope the best and let us know if it works for you Susan :)

@@hollandmassagereflexology2000 Thank you. I’m hoping to squeeze information out of the neurosurgeon soon! Sometimes it’s like getting blood from a stone, and what with holdups due to Covid, the holidays etc…

Working the forearm flexors will be more beneficial to trigger finger Afiliani! Flexor digitorum in particular.
