@@karlenecowan4694 I'm sorry if this is unsolicited advice but switching to minimalist shoes was the best thing I did this year. Thank you for this informative video, I have developed a bunion on my right foot, and needed to know what caused it,as well as what to do for some relief. I don't think it runs in my family, but I wore high heels for years. (I am 4'9" tall, &it felt(feels)at times like being 'in the land of the giants'!) So, yes I wore them often. I have seldom wore heels in past 5 years, however, but during the past 3yrs, I've had quite a bump appear beside my big R toe. Boy it smarts at times, and the whole area where bump has formed, burns deeply, feeling like, what I would imagine, stepping on a hot coal! I was happy to learn that I may be able to do exercise, and perhaps even help mold or shift the bows there to improve. Yes, sensible footwear is imperative, thanks again for the tips!

As a podiatrist, I can’t agree with most of this advice! Once bunions developed and you are genetically prone it won’t really reverse but you can do things to help with the pain. Having a bunion doesn’t meant you need surgery however. That is only reserved for people with pain and that is the main thing being treated. Shoe wear makes a difference yes. Weight loss won’t really make a difference. I’m not sure how effective these exercises really are. Bunion pads are great! Again main indication for surgery is pain

I don’t even wear heels and rarely wear flats. Yet I still have this problem, despite wearing wide shoes like boots and loafers. . .

      I wear heels, that’s why I have them. And I’m only 12.

I just noticed that I have one forming. I have large fee
t, and when I was growing up, there weren't any fashionable shoes for me to wear. I always had room in my shoes for my toes to move. My P.A. told me that sometimes bunions are hereditary. Yay :/

I noticed a bunion on my right foot a few months ago. Incredible as it may seem, it was not because of wearing narrow shoes, but because I wore a boot a size bigger. As I live on a farm with very uneven terrain, I was forcing my support leg, mainly on the slopes, and that is how I hurt my right foot. I feel no pain and it is not swollen, but it is sad to see my foot slightly deformed. I'm using bunions pads and toe separators, and doing the exercises, I hope it gets better.

High heels are so comfortable if we compare it with pointe shoes it's a ballerina problem
