Genre defining is a really good way of putting it. Absolute masterpiece.

I don't even like Roguelikes but as a card game fan, I adore this game

My bf loves card games, and I've played a few games of Magic because he's asked me to, and I didn't really like them. But I played sooooo much play the spire when asked. It was so fun

You should really try more games like this, I like wildfrost because like yugioh everything is free and has no cost but uou get one move per turn so ots a lot more strategic

The GOAT. I can't believe a game I've played for 1000 hours actually feels like it's added value to my life simply from experiencing it

I started playing this game this month after Balatro which was my first deck-builder roguelike and I really love it. I love how every character is unique and equally enjoyable in their own way. One thing I decided to refrain from which really boosted the fun factor was not watching any playthrough, guide, or tips and tricks about the game and just going blind discovering synergies and whatnot on my own. It was the best decision I maye since I keep learning new stuff about the game and having fun all the way through.

The game offers so little on the side of depth, that "needing" guides isn't really a reality..

One more thing about the Runic Dome: sometimes you have a deck that doesn't really care what you opponent is doing, like a Frost-oriented Defect that gets a ton of block anyway, or Stance Dance Watcher with Mental Fortress. As long as you don't run into that goddamn spaghetti monster...

This was the first rougelike i ever played and i still think its the best one

I'd said Isaac better in terms of rougelikeness, but if we are talking about deckbuilding rougelike... That's another story!

Timely video, got back into sts recently, managed to beat asc 20 with the Defect and the silent, but the Ironclad is giving me trouble on 19...
And the Watcher I'm even more behin, I think on 14
But hey, playing it a bit when watching One Piece with my wife, so when fillery parts of the episodes start I can knock out a few floors

Slay the spire is probably the only game that doesn’t feel like It’s lost anything with time to me. I have over 3k hours in it, it’s one of my go to relaxation tools genuinely. It’s just such a well made game it’s absurd

STS may be the best but I think that Monster Train is also very good

I didn't know anything about card games before playing STS (technically inscryption made me interested and then I found STS) but bc of it I've been interested in the design differences between it and deck builders in general and the kinds of games you seem to talk about more often, so I've been watching a few of your videos recently.
STS is just great bc like you touched on, it perfectly mixes those two ideas

STS helped me understand deckbuilding in a way hearthstone and magic never did. Nothing feels better than dominating an A20 heart run

I love finding ways to utilize drawbacks of cards, Ironclad is especially good at it. Using statuses to get extra cards with evolve+ or using necronomicurse with blue candle to trigger tons of exhausts!

I’ve played so many rogue likes, card games, and deck builders. No matter what I play, I find myself coming back to StS. The sheer amount of strategy, replayabilitiy, and unique experiences you can have is unparalleled. I have over 1300 hours in StS and not a single hour was the same as the last. Not to mention all the amazing community mods people make! You will ALWAYS have a new experience and it’s always so great. I love this game so much and I recommend it to everyone as much as I can.

Library Of Ruina is also a must-play card videogame, even better than Slay The Spire imo. If you like card games you're doing a disservice to yourself by not playing it

It replaced The Binding of Isaac as my new current favorite video game. It's helped me with resource management in other games and has rekindled an interest in mathematics

One thing i like about Slay the Spire rogue like mechanic is that the game start easy and get harder for each successful run you have instead of the ultra hard game and get easier for each unsuccessful run you have, like Hades.

Games that respect your time is so underrated. Games that puts daily login rewards. Games that lock you on energy caps
And games that forces you to stare at a static screen for 20 minutes to calculate your best turn (Into the breach)
REALLY SUCKS, there are so many amazing games out there and the last thing i want is a game demanding more out of me
