Also, get a flat piece of heavy cardboard. Punch slits in it with a knife. Push all the bolts through the slits and on the cardboard, write each bolts location on that car. It will definitely save you weeks of figuring where bolts went. Little snack bags work great too. Buy your own and don’t steal your moms/wife’s
I just picked up a 79 z28 Camaro bout a month ago.it sat in a barn little over 5 year's.really 😮dirty but mine is missing hood and rear spoiler 😊 great project though.good luck with your Camaro.
Your Camaro reminds me of when I started work on my Nova. Mine also saw some track time, then was left in the back woods of West Virginia, found dirt and pine needles in and under everything.
I got 4 350 rocket motors just bought another one last week for 200$. I am trying to find a Pontiac motor for my 79 trans am. I got the same year Camaro also, but it has a Chevy 350 motor.
@@gillhe1 I actually cool that I found these vids because my family has a 1980 and we just started on it and when I watched your vid I saw how you took off the bumper and I took the bumper off of mine
Just some advice...wash your car with dish soap...not turtle wax before starting body work ..... u don't want wax all over your car before body work....
Fortunately for you these cars are total "catalog cars" so you can buy everything down to the last screw. Whatever you don't feel like restoring you can pretty much just buy and install. Can't wait to see how this progresses. Back to work on my 2nd gen now that I have a little more motivation....lol.
I just got a 78 Camaro back at the end of oct 2021 so im gonna pay carefull attention to this build.. New subscriber here... it never even occurred to me when I bought this car that it wasn't posi/LSD traction.. why would they make a Camaro a one wheel peel car?
I've wondered the same thing, they definitely are a one wheel wonder haha I'll probably do a video on updating the suspension in the future but right now I'm just working on the body.
i got 3 z28s one is a z28 rs t top all are rust free with factory paint got all of them for free one has new custom interior in it i can make the t top a perfect body with no dings building 2 rigs now that are in front of it
Actually my first car was a 1978 camaro that I had to rebuild so I would have something to drive. In my opinion they are great cars and extremely easy to work on. Also parts are cheap so it is a well rounded first car.
@@CesarChavez-wb1gm they are all over the place, general rule of thumb if it has any serious rust and no engine don't pay more than $500 otherwise you're getting ripped off. Make sure it has a title! If it runs and has rust $1,500 max.
@@gillhe1 thank you for the advice, I will try to get one for the cheapest price and do a project as my first car. I also have help from my teacher that's a mechanic and owns two 77 camaros
The amount of automotive nonsense on yt is insane.... I'm always quick to poke fun being experienced but I can always appreciate knowledge and a little bit of exaggerating because, well.... UA-cam... Lol
Haha I agree, anyways when someone actually gets upset over stuff it's funny, sometimes I'll just poke a little because it doesn't take much at all for some people.
I've had a few of these I liked my 83 an 78 own a 81 now about to have it painted at a shop. Have 4 bolt main for mine can't wait
Hopefully starting on my own soon, excited to see where this goes
Hey thank you for the comment, it's always good to start with whatever you have whenever you can! I can't wait to post the next video for everyone.
My dream car is a 1980,1979 or 1978 Camaro z28
I'm 20 and just picked up a 78 z28 and been having a blast. Definitely worth the horrible gas mileage lol. Found mine on Facebook marketplace.
Dude, a Holley 4150....weird? It's the most iconic 4 barrel on the planet!
Lol I know, I've just never messed with them so I didn't know much about it at the time.
Ready to watch the transformation.

Lol yeah I've been using little snack bags for the bolts and labeling them! Thank you for the comments and advice!
This is so awesome buddy!! I’m excited to see the whole series for this one!

The fact that you even own this car gained you my sub.
Lol thanks for the sub! I was really busy the last year so now that I have more time I'll be more consistent with uploads.
@@gillhe1 keep up the good work man! Im almost 14 and this is my dream car. Id love to see the results!

Lol yeah this car had dirt everywhere, I'm still finding areas filled with dust.
Great video
Thank you!
I literally just bought my own and it’s almost in the exact shape yours is in I can’t wait for us both to have them done
Congratulations! These cars are pretty cool! So many different possibilities and parts available so it's really fun to just go crazy with them.
man I love the content. I really want to do a Camaro restoration playlist.
Nice work kid! I just bought one... came with a Olds 350 Rocket and a 400

I just got a rusted 79 body. What all parts do are supposed to be included in the front bumper?
I'm restoring one rn to race at drag races

Damn … wish there wasn’t some shitty EDM playing during the time lapse
Lol yeah I'm probably not going to do that in future videos, do you think they would be better with no music?
Not a bolt kid. Aboltholefor a spoiler stud
