    The time and effort on this compared to a full panel. A full panel hides the seems. And sail panal has a lip.

    I heartily applaud the work ethic, even as I dodge my MacGregor 25's extreme makeover. She's a sweet and sturdy sailing companion, dirty or clean.

    If i am were replacing the door skins and partial rear quarters, i would have opted to use the 80 transam pieces instead of camaro, so i am could then use a one piece fiberglass tilt '80-81' transam front end. Then of course reinforce with kevlar carbon fiber and S glass. It would have the stock formula style vents in the flat hood that is built into the one piece tilt front end. That would be awesome. You could still do this also.

    Yeah, just looked up American Autowire and a new wiring harness for my '59 F100 is $1100. Jesus Christ on a Pogo Stick, that's almost what I paid for the truck. Might as well pay a few hundred dollars more and have a professional put it in.

    My 79' though, has a springy side, so it just springs out enough that the tailgate comes off easy. lol

    I replaced one, the right hand hinge pin with a GM one and cut a slot in the tailgate. I could put tailgate on and off in a jiffy.

    I’m gonna have to patch one of my quarter panels on my 77 too. Only thing is the quarter panel patch I bought is dented a little bit. Would you use it and just slap some body filler over it or would you just buy a patch panel that isn’t dented

    do you need to grease the mechanical arm before inserting the new fuel pump?

    • @gillhe1
      @gillhe1 Рік тому

      I usually just put motor oil on it, but if there is a requirement to grease it then I was unaware of that. I figure introducing grease to the engine oil would just be contamination so I usually just try to keep everything lubricated with the same oil.

  • @soaredwood162
    @soaredwood162 Рік тому

    Why did you replace fuel pump? I have 73 f250, engine turns but does not stay on if I let go of the gas pedal . Any ideas what might be the issue?

    • @gillhe1
      @gillhe1 Рік тому

      Mine just had low fuel pressure so I put a new pump in. Sounds like your carburetor isn’t tuned right. It should be able to idle around 600-700 rpm’s, the timing could be off a little or the carb might need rebuilt, I just pulled the engine and transmission out of my 74 so I can rebuild it. Sometimes it just gets to that point on these old trucks.

Remember you DO NOT have to finish it to start sailing it. Sail and work on it - don't let it become a project non-sailing boat !!
