Will It Start!? (1978 Camaro Z28) Part #1

- I'm starting (pun intended) a new series on the channel called "Will It Start!?" where we find neglected vehicles that for one reason or another have been put on the back burner and shelved. This episode we tinker on a 1978 Z28 Camaro that has been sitting for 8 months-ish after going through Hurricane Michael last October. We toss a battery he had lying around and hit it with the old lightning replenishment machine, then we get to crankin'. Let's see what happens....

Doesn't get any better than those side exhaust pipes!Just be cautious gettin outta that thing after cruising the highway
Luv those thick BF Goodrich at the rear .. sits like a beast
That thing is awesome!!
The rear tires are a perfect fit. Love the cragers
That car has a lot of potential. Nice find.
The orange drums, bezels and side pipe have to GO!! But this is my favorite color scheme on the '79 Z!! And the Bright red scheme
I have 2 perfect 15x12 Cragar S/S wheels just sitting in my bedroom floor...
That's a 79, pinstripes were double broad on 79. I ordered on from the Chevy dealer in 78 came in Feb of 79, white with blue stripe cost was 6300.00 no ac though. These cars were really no fast due to all the emissions garbage they put on!!!
Don’t laugh at the dog, that’s exactly what I was doing watching this old Z live again. Cool video
His name is Emmett and he's my BFF, thanks!
Looks good man good find!
I had a 78 Z28, the transmission is a Borg and Warner super T-10 4speed.
Doors are the biggest problem.
All sorts of newer parts on that engine.
Cleaning it up and sell it.
There's a young kid out there that's been waiting for a good cheap sports car.
It was Chris's moms, its a one owner car. He definitely wont be selling it.
Gary Fehr most kids these days only want stupid ass little rice rockets. My senior year, I was the only guy with something that wasn’t a lifted yota or rice rocket civic. My open header 67 was known throughout the school as it’d set off car alarms every single morning. Driving it was so much fun. Loved that c10. Always had a bunch of friends in the bed. I’d always come rolling around blasting 70s shit: that truck was a 70s street machine in the making
@@DreamHachi I don't know about that. My 18 year old owns 2 IROC Camaros.
Man, I’d love to have a Z28 like that.
Well, maybe not EXACTLY like that, but you get the point. Lol
Agreed, Camaros are amazing
It's a 350, it'll start. I had one. It's cool that it has Tops.
That's in pretty good shape like the decals on it I may have to get one lol
I wish I can find me one I love these kind of model's
sounds so beautiful
I had one of those with a super t10 and 373 gear....coolest car ...should have never sold it😞
Wow, very solid👍
Such a beautiful car, the 69 is my all time favorite and my dream car but these ones are nice to, Camaros are just awesome cars
That z28 is sick
Sweet Z28👍
It’s a Chevy, of course it will start... That’s a mean looking ride.. 👍
Wow!, let me tell you that I had the same car as a diecast in 1/16 scale from Revell, made of plastic.
It was the snap tite version without using glue to make that model. It was exactly the same with side pipes. I remember it was printed in red color.
That's funny, to see yhat car in real again.
Greetings and best wishes !
What a beautiful car,muscle mania..!
I used to have an 81 Z28 What a cop magnet!!🧲🚔
Hell yeah...Coke was in them cars!!
@@minorsnow5306 Yup,,, they sure thought so🤯🔫🙄
That's a Bitchin car boys. Grow you a mullet, sleeveless Jean jacket, pack of pall malls, some high top sneakers and some Def Lepard jamming in the cassette player and you'd be on fire! Jokes aside, that is a really cool ride tho!
Now in more worried about your dog than you camaro
That Camaro is badass
Hes fine, and he says Hi!
@@CarsAndCoffeeKings good to know 😃😃
Nothing like those wide BF Goodrich meats on a good looking Z28
2 bolt 350. Awesome!
Just once I would like to see one of these 'Will it start?' videos where the vehicle doesn't start.
I can definitely make that happen, but i dont know why you'd want to see it.
I understand what your saying you sound a lot like me. Because in real life shit happens. ✌❤🙏🇺🇸
That Carby looks bloody brand-new
The Z had been motionless under that leanto for cose to 2yrs before we messed with it for this video. Proir to that it was down for almost a decade.
Look at them sexy cragar mags. 😍👍
Nice car
Nice car man!
New video uploading now!
That should clean up nicely.
Pretty sure that's a 1979 with a 80 or 81 Z/28 hood.
The VIN says 1978, the hood im not sure about as its Chris's car.
Need to see interior to be sure. 78 & 79 interiors differed greatly. no biggie
I love it
We have several videos. We just started it with the new motor yesterday. Check out our latest video.
cool
Sweet
That sounds just like my dads 1957 chevy
Needs a better drivetrain..like the sidepipes..
You can't give up on the 2nd Generation Camaro I would like one of those the Cregar wheels are fine but I would paint the 5spoke and the Center to match the color of the Z28 Camaro
We'll be droppin a SB350 into it here as soon as this virus is over. Stay tuned...
That may be a Berlineta Tail lights are but they could have been changed...or put on wrong!
I would keep it exactly how it is !! I love it
Que maquina hermosa
Gracias, trabajaremos más en este auto en el futuro cercano. Pronto pondremos un nuevo motor Chevrolet. ¡Sigue mirando!
Side pipes are ankle burners.
Yes it will.....
Вот это 👍👍👍КАМАРО
Beautiful car ,I love the fit of the rims and tires it would be nice if you knew where you got the rims and the tire size !
I just got new tires for it today rear 295/50/15 front 265/50/15 the wheels are Cragar Super Sports from like 1983
Very nice old Z28! Please get rid of those sidepipes.
79 Z with 80 to 81 hood. 86 or later engine and aftermarket flares on rear of wheel openings.
'96 - 2000 if it's a Vortec block. It has Vortec heads, which have the intake bolts at 90 degrees instead of 45, and no center intake bolts.
Kenny DeMartini center bolt heads for valve cover started in 88 all the way up to 99 k series trucks meaning k2500 k3500 trucks. 99 body changed in half ton truck started with ls based engine. You could also find 99 newer body style as well in the 2500 or 3500 with ls based engine.
@@justinpeacock2937 87 was the first year for center bolt valve covers, and Vortec heads didn't arrive until '96. That Camaro has Vortec heads because the way the intake bolts are. Not all center bolt heads are Vortecs.
Fuckin side pipes!!!
I think the fender vents make it a 79
Lucky👍
If the shine on those cragars are any indication that car wasn’t parked very long.... those are notorious for rusting
It sat for 6yrs, then Chris moved it in 2018 to protect it from hurricane Michael. It then sat for over a year until we made this video.
I'd like to see under the rear where they normally rot
Stroked 350 and there is no rot on this one
I wonder why her name is weezy
Not the original engine. That has vortec heads on it
The dipstick tube is on the wrong side too. Chevy didn't put the dipstick on the right hand side until 1980. If it's a Vortec block, it won't have the bypass hole in the block for the waterpump, which means it needs a bypass hose, and if it's a Vortec waterpump, it's spinning the wrong way because Vortec's used a serpentine belt.
Whoever put those side exhaust pipes on there should be sacked.
You are definitely in the minority with that opinion. And it was his dead dad.
small block chev will always start if you have spark
My uncle has that 427 big block 7.2 and 600 hp to the wheels
Sounds nasty!
Thought z28 was on the gas door and not on the spoiler. And should have rear fender flares? Makes me think a clone or front end crash.
Its a straight up Frankenstein!!!
That car was started not long before the video . Week or so
Yeah, not even close. It sat for 6yrs before Chris moved it in 2018 with his tractor to hide it under that leanto building from Hurricane Michael. It then sat for over a year before I convinced him to try and crank it.
I think yall put that carb on there. It doesn't look like its the same original.
There were/are a lot of aftermarket parts on that car. But we didnt fo anything to it before we tried to crank it.
I find it hard to believe that it's sat for very long. After all there is a Suicide Squad sticker on it. What year did the movie come out 2016-2017?
It sat for about 6yrs before Chris moved it under the shelter to protect it from Hurricane Michael. Then it sat for just over a year when we started playing with it. Ive got an FSU parking pass sticker on my 72 beetle that was there when i bought it. Its from like 1986.
@@CarsAndCoffeeKings I like the car. It is in great shape.
I love that ride, wanna sell it???what happened where is the rest of the video???
We got it started and ran out of daylight. I also had a 30 mile drive to cover before it got too dark. We'll be updating this car in future vids.
@@CarsAndCoffeeKings Right on bro, keep us posted!!
@@midnightrider5937 yea I'm gonna sub so I can see an update.
Choke didn't close when you pumped the throttle. Odd....
Yep would idle much better with a working choke.
We're swapping a new 350 intonit shortly. As soon as this virus thing goes away. Stay tuned!
Yes,will it start it self?..change engine la gayezzz, masuk big HP engine baru steady...next
Sure...
327 or 454
Weazy... sounds like shes trying to crank over also.....lol
Its definitely got compression issues. New small block going in soon. Stay tuned!
That is a 1979 Z.
Yep it’s a 79, I had a 78 Z28 41 years, if the vin plate says 78 somebody has changed it. But there right aboUt the scoop; either a 80 or 81.
Frankenstein
Save it please
New small block going in soon! Stay tuned
So badd ass still have it?
Yup, its a carb tune and registration away from road worthy!
@@CarsAndCoffeeKings wanna sell it?😄

I'm calling bullshit cause if you did find that car just like that you sir payed for it...
Its his dead moms car, his father bought it brand new. So....
@@CarsAndCoffeeKings I understand just looked to nicely set up to just be found in that condition. Now as for his mom I am very sorry my sincere apologies if offended. You sir have to say that if you just came upon this video it would look like a set up video come on now. I like the video just seemed staged in a way cause of the condition of the car and cause of what it is as well. Godbless you and have a good one.
Not a 78. Wrong stripes. Probably a 79.
Vin says 78, but you're not the first person to mention it.
on fire hopefully
I bet you're fun at car meets...
Damn straight itll start chevys are like a slave on the plantation always ready to run!
That suicide squad sticker is fairly new so yeah it'll start. Who puts a sticker of a movie on a car that's been supposedly sitting
Its not a sticker its the backing off a sticker his kid has. Im not sure how it ended up there. Also, were not out to fool anyone, we said this car had only been down for just under 2yrs since it was last started. Before that it was down for a decade.
It's a 79....not a 78...with a 80 hood
