"How do you convince a creationist that a fossil is a transitional fossil? Give up? It is a trick question. You cannot do it. There is no convincing someone who has his mind made up already. But sometimes, it is even worse. Sometimes, when you point out a fossil that falls into the middle of a gap and is a superb morphological and chronological intermediate, you are met with the response: "Well, now you have two gaps where you only had one before! You are losing ground!" See, you wont accept the evidence because your beliefs (or actually I think cowardice) wont let you. Once you accept evolution your whole worldview starts to unravel and belief in a pretty lie is better then acceptance of ugly truth. There's nothing at all wrong with philosophy nor a philosophical response but he's not the one to provide that kind of answer. He's a scientist who openly states that philosophy can be an instigator to science but is not required for the type of evidence based scientific study he does.
It's equally frustrating when people lay science at the feet of Hitchens and then fault him for giving a philosophical retort or being unable to provide deeper scientific fact.
Nothing wrong with either type of argument but it's silly, I think you'd agree, to expect one or the other from a person whose specialty is the opposite.

@demigodzilla Ray Comfort is not a science denier. If you watch some of his movies, he uses simple logic and scientific truths to disprove the ridiculous belief known as evolution. Please don't bother explaining how evolution is this and that, it is not, it fails in every scientific field , mathematical study, and philosophical argument. The real reason why evolution is so attractive is not because of evidence FOR IT, but in absolute faith that we will never have to pay for any of our sins and freedom to live our lives without any restrictions. That is the reason evolution exists, it exists because we as people want to sin with no restrictions.

And an entity like the biblical God is not very appealing to many, specifically Christopher Hitchens. If anyone is interested in living your lives underneath an umbrella of truths, please look into Frank Turek. He gives irrefutable evidence and logic for creationism and how the Bible speaks the truth.

I didn't ask for a sacrificial Redeemer. I believe I am 100 percent responsible for my actions good or bad. God decided we needed a Redeemer instead of just forgiving our sins, Jesus was one of many who was crucified and was only "gone" for 3 days or 1 1/2 when you count from Friday evening to Sunday morning.

Notice that the first thing on Lawrence Krauss' mind (0:23) is having HIS guys filming the interview along with witnesses. Also at 9:30 he confirms some ground rules "No editing." That's because Ray Comfort is notorious for editing interviews in a fraudulent way. Lawrence is in effect saying "Yeah Ray, I'll talk with you but you won't be able to screw around with the video later."

My thoughts on Ray Comfort’s film “The Atheist Delusion”
Ray sent me a preview link to his film, “The Atheist Delusion” and asked my opinion.
After watching the link to your film, my first thought is that you certainly chose some low-hanging atheist fruit to debate (preach to) in most of the film. The people you selected seemed to know little of the very basics of biology. It would be like me making a film called “The Christian Delusion” and only interviewing students who had hardly read the Bible and knew very little of the history of the church and how the Gospels were compiled in the first place. I imagine if I convinced such people that Christianity was a hoax, you’d cry foul (as you should). Why is it any different when you do this?
Of course, Lawrence Krauss was the lone exception, and yet you chose to edit down your discussion with him from approximately 6 minutes to around 2 minutes 15 seconds. Almost everything you cut out were his more detailed elaborations on your questions so it looked like he was simply making claims and failing to back them up. I'm wondering why you would do that? You gave more time to almost every one of the other clueless “atheists” you interviewed on the street who lacked any familiarity with the subject, and even then you mostly preached to them so I'm left to wonder how much of what they said you also edited out.
So the one time you had a truly intelligent person who could elucidate the actual facts and arguments on the other side, you consciously limited him to a sound bite and edited out much of his argument. This is the opposite of what I did when I interviewed you. I asked you tough questions, just as you did of Lawrence, but I left in your full reply so your view point came through clearly. I imagine that this is why you thanked me afterward.
After watching your film, your intellectual dishonesty was quite clear to me.
After I posted my one-hour UA-cam film with the full, unedited version of you and Lawrence, as well as parts of the sit-down interviews I did with each of you, I received a nice email from you thanking me for the fairness of my questions and allowing you to have your full say without editing your replies. Your cameraman and editor, Scotty, also emailed and said he felt it was quite fair and balanced.
In contrast, you did not extend the same courtesy to atheists with your film. Instead, you chose to mischaracterize the arguments by finding people on the street who could not identify a false analogy and knew little about basic biology and the subject matter in general. You very deliberately used this deceptive tactic to make it seem like they were representative of non-believers generally.
While beautifully filmed and edited, what you chose to do in you film was dishonest, plain and simple. It is one thing to have a point of view, but another to deliberately distort the opposing viewpoint and hide facts to convince your audience that your argument is correct. If you really believe what you're saying, then you shouldn't be afraid of letting the other side put their best argument forward and actually debate it on the merits. Instead, you choose to argue against a straw-man.
I enjoy a true intellectual discussion, which is why I wanted to interview you and then film you and Lawrence, but it's clear you do not-or at least you don't actually want your audience to see one. My guess is that no one would have ever seen the full discussion between you and Lawrence had I not filmed it as well as your crew, and certainly not if I didn't have a good release form covering everything I filmed that day that allowed me to release it on my UA-cam channel as well.
I'm now sorry I provided you with my footage for your film (and I noticed you used only my footage of your discussion with Lawrence, rather than your own). I felt comfortable doing this knowing your agreement with Lawrence to use all or nothing of your interview with him, and you neglected to inform me, either then or later, of your decision to cut out 2/3rds of what he said.
You said you wanted my opinion, so here it is. On the whole, I found the film quite slanted and not a very serious exploration of the subject. To be completely honest, I was left wondering if you actually believed what you preached when you purposely avoided having anyone actually explain the mechanisms of evolution, but chose rather to mischaracterize it so you could pretend to knock it down. I'm sure you must have heard the real argument many time, and it wouldn't have been hard to have someone in the film lay out the basics, so the fact that you didn't do this makes me suspect you are afraid to allow your audience to hear the other side's thoughts at all.
Oh well, live and learn. It’s your film, so it’s your decision of how to present it, but since you asked me my opinion of “The Atheist Delusion,” there it is.

If you want to "defeat" him, you have to insist on the fundamentals.
      1) If he's scared of hell, why choose a religion having this concept?
      2) If he's convinced it's not a matter of choice, prove it! always repeating you've got faith/trust brings nothing to the table.
      3) Do all christians go to heaven and everyone else to hell?, if not, what's the purpose of his faith, then
      4) If absolute morality exists - what is it, show it!
      5) Why does his religion require the denial of science, and our own (god created !!!) nature?
      6) If he thinks death makes all human experience pointless, how does eternity fair any better?

I mentioned humility bc I believe it boils down to that. You can do nothing to save yourself. Jesus Christ loved you so much that he took the punishment reserved for the both of us wholly onto himself. I would probably be destroyed intellectually in a debate with most atheist. But I have faith. I will pray for you that God, who will not force anything that you do not willfully accept, will influence you. For he is not willing that you or anyone should perish. Lol, sorry that is nothing but complete and utter gibberish.
Your jesus' existence so far it only indicates to be nothing but a mythical one, there's hardly anything on jesus about his early childhood and absolutely zero, zilch info from ages 12-30 yrs.
We only have stories based on the last 3 yrs of his life only..wtf ?
We know about his myth some 200 yrs after the "crucifixion" event when the 4 gospels (Mark, Luke, Matthew and John) were added to the bible; then later, Roman Emperor Constantine of Alexandria converted to christianity (Byzantine Period) changed a/o omitted some of the original bullshit writings in the bible so it would fit a better "criteria" as it was going through the Ages, for the convenient purpose of unifying everyone from near-by and far away regions of that Era under the same umbrella of christianity.
Anyone to astray from that religious mindset subscribing to different apocryphal beliefs, credos or dogmas considered of heretic nature would face punishment/penalties, torture or death...aah the mighty wrath of the church those days
*I believe in God, and am very thankful for his creation.*
It's your personal delusion and when it comes to actual evidence you don't have any in support of your shit belief anymore than believers of other faiths have for theirs.
Almost 2 billion people claim and will tell you their god Allah is the one and true god.
The thing with all these shit beliefs seems to merely be within the context of the believer's own geography, lol.
There are almost 4000 recorded supernatural gods and deities from different civilizations in time throughout History, hundreds of them are claimed to be the creators of something, the world or the universe...what a predicament :P

Without God this world would literally be hell. If you think it already is then you you would be in for a harsh reality. Nothing good would exist without God. Atheim already has no authority for morality which is why atheists affirm good and evil subjectively.
An atheistic worldview is that we exist for no reason despite having no control over it. Then we are forced to live this life with no purpose.

This interview (when Kraus and Comfort were together) is the most pleasant I have ever seen Krauss. That said, he was still dismissive and Comfort outshined in his treatment of Krauss with respect.
I am of slightly above average intellect - no great thinker to be sure. But I can understand plausibility and reason and logic. There is a chance that Krauss is 100% correct in all his assertions but his intellect so far supersedes my own, I cannot understand how compelling his argument is. And trust me, I have tried ... mightily.
But in the after interview, the interviewer posits several times an attempt at understanding Krauss' postulants and EVERY time is corrected by Krauss that he is missing the point. I find my analysis likewise. Krauss' arguments seem to be either nonsense or brilliance with no room for middle ground.
Comfort's apologetics are entirely different. God and creation seem to readily explain everything we see and the world in which we live. When there is conflict between Comfort and Krauss' worldviews, Comfort's seems to have consistency. Comfort's science comports with reality. Krauss' science does not. Comfort's philosophy comports with reality. Krauss' philosophy does not.
You may think I (or my ideas) are foolish. Perhaps I am. I think a difference is that Krauss makes no room for the fact that he could be mistaken. For this reason, I fear for his soul. Pride is the deadliest of all sins.

And who are you to declare that God can't give people free choice. That's just absurd. All the evidence we have points to a supernatural origin of the universe. None points to a naturalistic, atheistic origin. Stop pretending you have the default belief. When all the evidence points to a non-physical, beyond natural or supernatural creation event i.e. a creation event requiring a Creator, then you either have to toss away causality, practically the basis of all scientific inquiry, or you have to accept the default position favors Theism or Deism.

Another thing in the bible is that God makes it clear that no heathen can say that they didn't know about God and his greatness, because in fact your looking at it and acknowledge it every, single, day. In fact if you were judged, he would question you, on why you didn't believe in him, or reach out to him. No man can come up with a being like God who is in the bible and who is not anything like a man in thinking. God is something very special.
The world as we know it is not as dull as we think it is, because God is in it, and He as He said is our abundant and superior reward. I don't even need to share this, because it serves no purpose, but I have been dreaming about the greatness of God and what is in heaven. I wasn't there, but I saw a big city that looked like a temple - and everything looked so perfect and connected. It didn't even look like a city, it looked like something else. And it was all made of something I can describe as; "Translucent gold." I saw it in my dream, as it was in reality; I woke up and suddenly, part of the corner of the roof at the sight of my bed, I could see through. It was very dark at that time, and there were many stars in the sky - more than usual. Then a golden cloud appeared (wasn't that big), and it landed on a certain spot above. Then the clouds disappeared, and I saw the great city, and I was afraid to look at it. Here comes the scariest part, when I turn away or even close my eyes. I could still see it, as well as the other directions around me, all at the same time! It is indescribable. Consider how we see things, the perspective and dimension of our vision. Most people have drawn a room in perspective, as how you would see it when you walked in the door. I saw all perspectives around me and above me and still even when I looked to my side and even what I couldn't see; like when you close your eyes. How is that even possible? There is nothing in the totality of the universe that can create that image. It is impossible to draw it. Because what I saw requires more dimensions than 3, so I saw more than 3 dimensions. Very crazy. And what's also scary is that I got this dream while I was angry with God about something. And believe me, I'm not dreaming (remember my dreams), but I remember this clearly and that city looked more "real"- than real life, so much better, really looked like something out of a movie at 4K and still more realistic. This dream happened about 2 months ago.

No moral nihilism, God's still the standard of morality. God still punishes a Christian, it's juat as a son not as an enemy. It's called chastisement.
A Christian will try to do good because we have recieved the Holy Spirit upon having faith in the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ, and by the Spirit we can actually act out true righteousness, because we know it's not ours, it's Christ's. We live to serve our Savior who loved us and gave himself for us. He will withdraw his fellowship from us if we continue in disobedience, and that is punishment enough!

They report supernatural events that took place in fulfillment of specific prophecies (which can be researched in history), and claimed that their writings are divine rather than human in origin.

@@Bob-of-Zoid minute 5 to minute 6 ray is correct about the gospel. Dr Lawrence Krauss starts babbling about gravitational waves from black holes at minute 7:30. Krauss can't even get the question right at 17:30, he states that humans assume purpose and there is an evolutionary need for that at minute 19, or assume design. Krauss just walked into the design argument. So the truth is that it is normal to assume design. Minute 20 Krauss just states that dna does not make itself. So if it doesn't make itself, who made it. ( he states nature made it, that is just a cop out as that is a contradiction within itself as something with no mind makes something that complicated ), At minute 20:30 Krauss states that DNA was created but then backtracks and says you cannot assume design but it was created. More info on Krauss, he wrote a book on nothing created everything which he hijacks the word nothing and assumes that he believes that he conquered God. So in another words he has spent 40 years spitting out propaganda, look at his handbag imagine no religion, he wrote a book on energy creating everything and these forces its basically witchcraft added to the classroom. He also wrote a book on the physics of climate change. The man honestly had so much potential but is basically a propaganda machine. Its really sad. Whats next he is going to talk about the goodness of covid vaccines or the greatness of Joe Biden. Don't trust someone who quotes John Lennon ( imagine no religion ) who claims it as science. At the end of the day atheism and evolution have held back society from making progress as you look at the masses in california and they know next to nothing and in China where they are mostly communist untrained workers as they have no incentive to train their children to become anything. The US will plummet but I digress. I am married and have three kids, 25 minutes of the video was enough as Krauss had his ideas challenged and he couldn't meet the challenge. NOPE. Your belief is yours. You are welcome to it.

Wrong again. I dont hold him in esteem because he states false assertions and profess understanding he doesn't possess.
"you can take a look and hear out those with a degree in science and math discuss God, and science. "
I can do far more than that: I can use scientific method to falsify explanations and claims and so derive my own, real personal TESTED undertstanding, and not make unskilled assumptions about things I don't understand fiullly based upon any biases and beliefs.
"Explore everything my friend...don't juat assume you actually know because of "what you heard" over time. Wake up and test all things!"

"Here's Dr. Stephen Meyer discussing the obvious and what we already know through testing.
There's more then what the eye can see and mind comprehend. It's true. 👍"
If you cannot comprehend it, then why are you making uninformed assumptions about other people's comprehensions?
Do you understand what an appeal to ignorance fallacy actually is?
Unfortunately, DNA is a chemical that obeys the laws of physics and there is a functional, natural explanation of it's entire process that we are able to use in industry. Meyer is making a base teleological fallacy.

They just haven't discovered this belief is based on bad reasons and is unwarranted.

    • @chadlawrence2240
      @chadlawrence2240 4 роки тому

with all do respect this does not make sense. The first life appeared 3.8Billion years ago. Before natural selection could even act on mutation the first life was extraordinary by Richard Dawkins and any honest atheist own admission. The first life by Dawkins own admission contained 1000 sets of Encyclopedia Britannica worth of information. Not random....we are talking specified complexity like out of a computer program or book. This caused many scientist including founder of DNA ...Francis Crick to theorize, panspermia. Basically first life was so complex in terms of genetic code the idea our planet was seeded by an alien life form could only explain complexity of first life. Why is it acceptable to infer intelligence behind first life as long as its alien and not God. Even if you believed in panspermia you still have the problem of where that alien intelligence came from. RNA or DNA did not make itself. Of course scientific experiments started in 50's to create conditions that could have made first life by accident. In all that time all that has been made are amino acids. Even if life was made in test tube it would only prove intelligence was need to make it happen. RNA folding???????? That point overlooks the central issue....origin of life....where did come from? Saying an alien did it is accepted but DONT YOU DARE SAY GOD? Where did the alien come from? If you say conditions where just right to do it....nope....not in 70years of hard work has it been accomplished. The answer is obvious but rejected by people who are determined to avoid God hypothesis not because of lack of evidence but because a passionate desire to disbelieve evidence. All the founding fathers of science with exception of Spinoza were either Christian or theists. I'm not trying win an argument but just begging my atheist brothers and sisters to be honest with the evidence. God bless

Their theory’s are never gonna take into account the possibility of God. So their theory’s will usually contradict our beliefs. Science is: a Systematic and Comprehensive Investigation and Exploration of Nature's Causes and Effects/the pursuit and application of knowledge and understanding of the natural and social world following a systematic methodology based on evidence. So in a sense from my understanding Christian’s are not fully anti science it’s just most of our epistemology is revelational epistemology.

Depends on your definition of "faith". In religious context, you can only have "faith" in concepts that you have no evidence for - in other words, if something is "plausible" it doesn't require faith anymore, since there are additional real world pillars propping it up. You could go the extra step and say that only absurd notions require faith - since they are even logically impossible (such as a being being omniscient and omnipotent at the same time), the only way you can believe it possible is through pure faith.

    • @vebdaklu
      @vebdaklu 4 роки тому

@Graham Rathbone How is it deceit to point out that the word "faith" has multiple different meanings? Consider briefly, to replace sin with error. Now think about it.
Being linear creatures, with a condition to allow fault indicates there is something to be made up - that is to correct - whatever it is, as we move. Since we can’t go back in time, we are left with a predicament in our minds, that not only that ‘bad’ is bad, but there are always consequences unknowable. Without coming to terms with this, truthfully, we continue to distort reality in a compounding way.
Now, you could just say, I’ll keep looking/moving forward regardless, but you have no way knowing how compounding the error is, or how to trust that you can/should even do that. There is NO objective source within you to make that determination. You need an external force to verify your position, as well as your past and future. This person to verify who you are, is only Jesus Christ. If you deny him, you make yourself your own prisoner, with only one logical conclusion, death, our own doing. If you come to terms with him and repent, he sets us free ( though it won’t necessarily be easy).

What Dr. Lawrence Krauss is doing in this video is personifying nature and also the universe. An underlying statement I keep hearing in his statements is that nothing is created with a purpose. He also keeps attributing everything to quantum mechanics as if that explains how the universe was "created from nothing". Quantum mechanics, in and of itself, cannot cause anything.

@@dylanwhisnant6772 - your question is a lame deflection to subvert the truth of his statement. A degree does not grant inherent validation. You know the truth and power in his statement but cannot counter so you use the ever lame tactic of subverting him through an attempted mocking.

Strauss mentions quantum mechanics as the study of this phenomena has shown that the rules (laws) that apply to larger bodies do not apply on the atomic level ,strange things happen there , things pop in and out of existence.
When a physicist talks about "something" from nothing ,which they generally don't; except when talking to theists as they are genuinely trying to help you see your delusion, They mean apparently empty space ,this could contain gases & miniscule molecules.
Quantum mechanics is a scientific theory ,it is concerned the why of the phenomena not the what ,we know what atoms are we don't always know why the do what they do.
Quantum mechanics is not instinctive , it has "evolved " over many generations of learning , they are standing on the shoulders of other scientists.....science is not a thing you see ,it is a method. Scientific enquiry tries to disprove itself ....theory & laws have stood up to the most rigorous inquiry ,they are as close to certainty as scientist would profess.
"god" fails at the first hurdle ,how did god make "himself"? ,were did "he" come from?
Also why "HE" ?,no one has ever seen nor heard "god"
PLEASE STOP PRETENDING TO KNOW WHAT YOU DON'T KNOW.

@@Imagine_sisyphus_happy Quantum Mechanics is the branch of mechanics that deals with the mathematical description of the motion and interaction of subatomic particles, incorporating the concepts of quantization of energy, wave-particle duality, the uncertainty principle, and the correspondence principle. Nothing in that denotes the ability to create. Matter has to already exist for quantum mechanics to work.

Just a small insignificant comment about the 30 minute "Goodbye" comment. I may be wrong but, IF Ray had been incorrect, they would have made a big deal about it. But since Ray was right, it was just glossed over.

Basically they are both talking about apples and bananas . They are two completely different subjects .
Love this bible verse and for me it explains all.
1 Corinthians 2:14 New King James Version (NKJV)
14 But the natural man does not receive the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; nor can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned
