Today I just washed my hair after having it straight for 3 weeks. I was so nervous because my curls didn’t quite look the same when I first wet it. Like they were there, no straight pieces, but idk it was different. I mixed two eggs, olive oil, and conditioner and slapped it on my hair. It’s been in there for thirty minutes so far but BABYYYYY my curls are back like they never left! I guess we just have to fully saturate our hair with water and protein in order for them to fully come back. I was a little nervous at first, lol, but I’m good now❤️
When you have it straight and use heat protection oils it locks out moisture and locks hair in the straiter length and moisture out, thats why it only reverts back slowly. Once the hair is clarified of the coatings it reverts back.
Before and after my hair is being exposed to heat I always make sure it’s completely clarified of any build up. And then I go in with a protein deep conditioner/treatment. My faves are Palmers protein pack, Aphogee 2 step, and ORS hair mayonnaise. Protein will give your hair back it’s elasticity, rebuild your strands, protect it, and strengthen it. Sitting under a hooded dryer or steamer with a plastic cap will allow it to penetrate the strands even better. When your curls have been straightened and stretched for a long time it needs an extra kick to revert.

@@misshbbella8225 Palmers coconut moisture boost protein pack, and the ORS Hair Mayo are deep conditioners..you can also use the Africa’s best hair Mayo, if you can’t find the ORS one, it’s lighter in consistency but still gets the work done. You will need about 2-3 packets of the Palmers packet tho depending on your hair thickness. All products are less than $10 and can be found at your local beauty supply, Target or Walmart

I’ve been natural for three years and I still have not been able to achieve a wash and go. When my hair is stretched it goes down to my shoulders…just don’t know how to do it… so I only wear a puff or two poofies. It’s kind of frustrating I see other girls with my hair type having hang time and all that and they’ve only been out for a couple years.. then there’s me smh
Yeah I feel you on the straight look. I haven't had the desire to straighten in a few years now. I'm good on that. I love my curls even when I don't lol. Straight ain't for me right now

Not sure if it's just a low porosity thing but my hair definitely just takes a while to revert sometimes. It's crazy hair the natural hair community really fear mongered us into not wanting to do heat styles. I was literally telling myself the other day why I am so fearful of heat damage when I have literally never had heat damage? And I used to get my hair flat ironed and blow-dried pretty often when I was younger. And the times I flat ironed my hair when I didn't know what I was doing I didn't even use heat protectant 🤣 Still wouldn't play with my hair like that now though.
Fr, my hair is low porosity and it took a while to revert too but I knew my hair was fine
I'm low porosity too. Warm water and time to literally press it into the hair until saturation every wash day. Your hair has always been gorgeous, Jess!

Hey Jess! I too am low porosity here. Have you tried running the shower and allowing the steam to fill the bathroom then applying your products? I know it probably isn’t a “film friendly” environment, but I found it helpful when trying to get my hair to absorb the product. I also saw another UA-camr purchase a facial steamer and apply the products as the steam flowed onto her hair 🤷🏾♀️ maybe it’s worth giving it a try???
When I straighten my hair I was so scared Bc my hair was not reverting back for me, but I went to my stylist and she washed and did a treatment in my hair plus trimmed and the curls was back. Your hair will cure back up and a good trim your curls will definitely pop like you want it.
What kind of treatment helped your curls bounce back? Protein strengthening or moisturizing? My curls aren't fully back and with low porosity hair, I'm supposed to avoid protein. But it seems to be the ingredient that helps with damaged curls. All I've been using is moisturizing deep conditioners.
@@cashmereglow7549 my stylist did a moisturizing treatment I’ll ask her to see what products she used…. Those products was a life saver and I also needed a trim badly that was one of the main reasons it took so long to revert back as well Bc if the dead hair that was weighing on my healthy hair.
@@cashmereglow7549 protein is ok for low porosity hair if ur dealing with heat/color damage that’s what helped be me it just shouldn’t be used regularly

I’m a natural and I straighten my hair every other month. I also have a looser curl pattern in the front, if you decide to straighten it again just make sure you lower the temp in the front since it’s looser. Also it always take a while to revert back with low porosity but the curls always come back 😏

8:48-10:00 was LITERALLY me two hours ago! The front of mine does the EXACT same thing, like more wavy than curly. I straightened mine December 17, and FINALLY had the patience to revert her. My front did the same EXACT thing, so much so that I just put the pre-poo in, twisted it, wet it some more, and put it all under a heat cap. I'm SUUUUPER LoPo coming out of a flatiron. Prayerfully, tomorrow every curl will be present and accounted for!
When I has heat damage, I conditioned my hair like crazy. And did a clay mask - it worked :)

I cut my hair in April just like you did because I colored it red. That color is fun but it really does damage your hair. I am on my journey to get my hair back to its original length. You gave me hope!!! Your hair is sooo beautiful 😍

Im soo glad your hair reverted back completely. In 2020, i got my hair straightened and there was no return my curls were fried and i ended up cutting it summer 2021😭😭 Soo happy for your results😁

I usually use an Aloe Vera plant on my straight hair to bring back my curls then follow up with my Olaplex line. It never fails! ✨

I love how you sound like you're explaining to your parents what you did wrong talking about that additional heat you used...lol I straighten my hair probably 3-4 times a year. I prefer my hair straight but I'm also militant about my curls. I've found that my looser curls (at the back and at the crown) take some time to revert fully. Same thing happened when I colored my hair. Two washes and we're back. Sis is fine! I loved seeing your hair growth. Thanks for sharing.

You hair is exactly like mine with the two textures etc and this is one of the reasons I wear my hair blown out or straightened all the time. I am just over it. I've been natural for about 7 years, I've tried pretty much everything. 😅 I love to watch you do your hair, hoping I'll be inspired again but for now, I'm sticking to blow outs

FYI: UA-camr, Rachel Adina tried Olaplex on heat damaged natural hair. It worked wonders.

So when I revert my hair I do it in the shower. It will look more curly when you fully drench the hair. I also find that it takes 2 to 3 wash days for my hair to fully revert after being straight especially since I bleach my hair

Product formulation is key. I've straightened my hair on 400 degrees around 8 times in 3 months. using a cheap and generic it's a 10 leave in and a generic silicone serum both of which I purchased from Sally beauty.

Jessica u should always do a protein treatment like Aphogee b4 & after you straighten your hair. It really will make sure u don’t have heat damage. And when it’s straight try not to put any heat on it after the initial styling process. Love your videos u r so cute. Have a blessed day 🙂
