Those off-road trucks the reason that they don’t tip over is because they put ALOT of weight in the bottom

Yeah, the weight of the tread assembly is wayyyy more than the weight of the cab and engine. So it ends up being fairly bottom heavy. Still a huge rollover risk, just not as bad as you would expect
Yep, the track assembly looks heavy as shit. The top part only really seems to hold the driver and end engine and an empty body shell.

@@HesmiyuMC good thing you mention it. The Opel Blitz was the name of Opels medium "Lorries" built from 1930 to 1975 and is one of a few exeptions that didnt get mirrored by Vauxhaull.
Much like how, unfortunatly, there is no Opel Monaro.
Edit you actually got me looking further into this. Vauxhall DID build "Lorries" or more like light delivery type vehicles. Vauxhall apperantly used to own Bedford.
However they did built thier own "lorries" there no mirroring Opel.

6:49 The tracks are heavy as f by general, cuz they are STEEL, and also, there's the Transmission, the Gears/Wheels to move the tracks, which means 2/3 of the car's weight is the movement set alone(aka tracks)

9:00 I don't know if you know, but the Cadillac Eldorado in 3:50 is also FWD. It has the same drive as the Oldsmobile Toronado. To make it more interesting, the power from the engine is transmitted to the gearbox via a thick chain.

6:52 Nope, the chasis with all the panels dont weigh as much as the whole power transmission system with wheels and suspension, so if you take it out, the car is quite light and the tank drive system is probably like 4 times heavier, i can assure you, the center of mass is only slightly higher than usual

For the tracked off-road truck in particular, that tank track setup is almost as heavy if not more than the cab, but on other wheeled off-road trucks, the key is to not go heavily sideways, they usually widen the tire width or amount of tires to help prevent flips aswell

Fun fact about the first gen Toronados, for their first year, you could only get 4 wheel drum brakes, and even though front discs became available in the second year, they were still a paid option, not standard.

The tracks on the mud trucks are quite wide, and they are made from a solid material which is heavy.
Add that the top chassis is likely stripped, and it is solid.

The "Truck" with tracks does not have a high center of gravity because most of its weight is in the tracks.
The tracks also allow it to have a insane ground clearance to keep the momentum and not tip over because its carrying that momentum unlike a wheeled vehicle once it tips over 2/4 wheels go flying and you lose momentum to stabilise the vehicle.
Beside its in Mud so its sticking the Tracks to the ground with friction.

With the tracked pickup truck I am guessing the main amount of mass is on the tracks and drive terrain so that means the centre of gravity is low or it is equal weight up high and down low

6:56 you are correct that the centre is high but the tank tracks are hevier then the truck
6:46 just by looking at it, the majority of the weight in that vehicle is in the tracks, which lowers the centre if gravity. It is a very impressive build, but those tracks do not look light at all. All the drivetrain components are down with the tracks which will make the thing a lot more stable
Also the engine is in the rear which makes it sit lower overall in the truck, and sets all the weight near the centre of the vehicle, also improving stability
The Opel race car was scary good in gran turismo 4. tons of traction
To clarify why the pickup track tracked vehicle does not fall over: Peeps don't realise that tracks are HEAVY. Like, I think it is a safe bet track belts are together 700 kilos. This and suspension system for all the wheels, sprocket, motor, modified teansmition to have differential stearing( I bet it is clutch-brake since it is quite easy to build).
All in all cab compared to what is lower is light. Over half of the weight is in the running gear, so it being stabile is not a surprise.
However the style choices and how much they lifted the damn cab, is.
7:00 The Pickup doesn't flip, cause it's only the Body up there. It's only metal, no engine, no driveshafts, no suspension etc.
So the chain tracks have so much weight, that the point of gravity is pulled down.
