That's Lou Gramm from Rochester, NY singing Angela. He's a friend of mine, and he just happened to be blessed with the greatest voice ever. But even his amazing vocals cannot touch his beautiful heart.❤️
Lou lives about 5 miles away from me (where the nice homes are, lol). I've seen him at our grocery store three times over the past 20 years (never with a grocery cart, he's way too cool for that ;-). People usually recognize him so I didn't get to approach him until last time, and I thanked him for all the music and told him I'd seen him live 3 times. He was SOOO kind, patient, friendly and nice, I was visibly a bit nervous, his singing and music has had such a potent impact on so many of us. (I copy/pasted this from a separate comment I made, thought you'd be interested, cheers)
Awesome that you're his friend. I grew up in the 70s and loved listening to Foreigner. Then in the early 2000s I saw that Lou was going to be performing at the state fair where I live. I never got the chance to see Foreigner when they were together and I loved Lou's solo music too, so I decided to go the concert. In the time period leading up to the concert I decided to buy CDs of all of Foreigner's albums and his solo albums. I thoroughly enjoyed listening to that music again and hearing songs that I didn't know too. He WAS blessed with a great voice. I realized listening to the songs that he also sang clearly, so I could actually understand the words he was saying. There were a lot of artists I liked where I couldn't understand every word.
This song... more specifically your reaction to this song... was beautiful! Life can throw us a lot of stormy seas. The ONE thing that can right the (metaphorical) ship that is our lives, is LOVE.❤ I wish you all a blessed day!
After hearing this song a thousands times, it still touches me so deeply! That’s the gift of music: no matter what kind of genre - it can touch, heal, brighten up your day, make you sad, laugh, happy,… ♥️
I'm a 6'2", 235lbs former Army Airborne Ranger and the final chorus still gets me misty every time. :) The New Jersey Mass choir ROCKED IT! The dude at 4:39 has a smile that lights up the sky. You can see he is loving this!
@@BigBadWolf1st Your response makes no sense. Can you explain why anyone would think a big man would not get emotional from good music? Rich Flath unless you are about 6% bodyfat 6'2" 235lbs is not big.
Foreigner had some brilliant songs, '' waiting four a girl like you '' another mellow powerful track or '' Cold as ice '' a more upbeat fantastic song ❤❤
27 Approaching 30 and I genuinely believe I haven't felt love or been shown it before 😂My dad said for men it's usually the other way around when it comes to getting cynical. We're born without worth, told to shut up and behave our entire lives and only when we're 55 with a pocket full of change can we be loved. I'm looking forward to that lmao. A great reaction if I ever saw one! Thank ya for ya time! Love from the UK ✌ Edit: I don't care if you react to it, or know if you've already done so, but you should listen to "Broken Stones - Paul Weller", good for the soul!
Hello Angela: Deeply emotional song that taps into some universally shared wants/needs...and beautifully performed and articulated. The other song you referred to ("In the Living Years") was actually Mike and the Mechanics. Both are superb pieces of music history, and still resonate today.
It is amazing how there comes along a song that just simply gets into your head and you cannot seem to shake it. Everything about the song strikes a perfect chord in your head so it just seems to belong up there with so many outstanding performances and music. It is hard to explain but this song just hits the right notes, the right chords, and the right words. Excellent review.
I was 10 years old when this song came out. 40 years later this song still touches my heart. I cry a little bit too. ❤ Thank you for sharing. God bless you!
Hi, Angela. I loved your honest, heartfelt reaction to this song. It's a very moving song especially towards the end when the choir joins in. A favourite of mine and was another one that was thrashed during a difficult time. Thanks for sharing. Stay healthy 👍🏽 ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐
When they were initially recording this song in the studio, apparently Jennifer Holiday could hear them recording the chorus and she walked in and started sining back up. She then became involved in the arrangement and the idea to get the New Jersey Choir in the the track.
Thank you for acknowledging Jennifer Holliday's contributions to this track. Such a beautiful, underrated vocalist and person. Jennifer is a wonderful soul and listening to her sing is otherworldly. Most people dont know that it is the same woman who sings "And I am Telling You" as the main choir vocalist in this song. Thanks again.
Lou Graham. He’s like Steve Perry in my mind. Lou Graham is to Foreigner what Steve Perry is to Journey. That once in a lifetime voice that penetrates soul and brings you to literal tears. I remember hearing this as a kid way back when and it grabbed me and I was hooked on Lou Graham’s voice. Much like what happened when I first heard Journey as 6 year old. Voices like that are rare and deserve to be treasured. They’ve been fortunate enough to write songs that are heard by the masses that people like you and I can feel and relate to. If a song can move you like it did in your reaction video, mission accomplished. That’s what it’s all about.
Wow Angela! What an awesome breakdown of the song! You nailed it! We all need to be shown again and again what love really is! You are so right that we all become too cynical and too hardened by day-to-day life that we forget to LOVE! Great reaction video Angela!
I love the way you can take a song and make it your own, then you are able to explain your feelings and how you can relate those feelings to all of us! Thank you Angela, your reactions bring me comfort and a smile! ❤❤❤
Great Great one of the greatest songs written, composed, arranged and sang. My mother, father and Aunt use to play this loudly everyday when it came out. Foreigner 👍
If this song doesnt stir emotions in anybody then they are an empty shell. Ive probably heard this song over 40 times in my 52 yrs and im still amazed at ehat a great song this is. Both he and the choir. They add so much to an already spectacular voice. Plus its an optimistic song. Something we are in short supply of these days.
Wow, what a beautiful reaction my sweetheart. Lou Gramm's voice is one of the iconic vocals of the '80's. This song evokes so may beautiful memories for me. 🙋♂ ❤
Another great ballad of theirs is “Waiting on a girl like you.” And MANY banging hits like “Urgent”, “Hot Blooded”, and so many more- Foreigner is on of those rabbit holes- 🙂
He had me crying too, Lou Graham goes way back for me, I remember him being an outstanding lead singer in Black Sheep, from Rochester, NY before Foreigner. Those guys were awesome and it took the opportunity to play with Foreigner to really get everyone to know him. Great band and great song, one of many in their catalog. Try Starrider or Cold as Ice next, more awesome stuff. Your smile brightens my day and love your honest reactions that show how nice a soul you are. Rock On pretty lady! 🎵

Hi Angela, as always I love your reaction. This is one of the most beautiful love songs ever made. Love Lou Gramm’s great voice. The choir gives me goosebumps. I recommend another great song by Foreigner: That was yesterday.
Living Years is by Mike and the Mechanics. This song also hits me in the feels, but for different reasons. On tours they still use choirs for this song (or so I hear). At one stop, they got a local high school choir to fill in. Lou Gramm is the lead singer here.
The Living Years was done by Mike + the Mechanics; their front man was Paul Carrack and he also has an amazing voice. This gem of a voice is Lou Gramm. Both incredible vocalists. Loved the reaction 👍
Girl, you made me cry! I'm so glad that this song helped you feel such emotion. His voice was unbelievable at this point. I haven't heard him lately so I can't say how he sounds, but Lou has one of the best and most gorgeous voices out there. Thank you for blessing us with the reaction. ❤❤

At 82 I'm so glad I lived in the golden age of music. 60s, 70s, & 80s There was real talent.

This song is a Masterpiece
PUT THEM IN THE HALL!
Lou Gramm was the lead singer for Foreigner. What a fantastic vocalist.
The best.!👍👍
That choir is everything!!!
THANK YOU FOR NOT INTERRUPTING THE VIDEO
OMG this song always brings me to tears!
This is a timeless classic. I grew up hearing this on the radio as a kid. When the choir comes in, I still get chills.
Lou and Steve Perry have some of the best voices in the history of rock and roll. The music of Journey and Foreigner lives on.
Absolutely 💯
Steve was a crooner not a rock singer,
Lou makes him look like an amateur.
Add Survivor to that list.

I've heard this song a100 times - each time I get choked up and get a tears in my eyes. I'm so glad that you loved it also. Thanks.
Somehow for me this song is all about the chorus; so powerful.
"Waiting For A Girl Like You" is another one you should hear. 100% pure love; hold the heartache.
I'd walk 500 miles just to witness you smiling
Very touching. Thank you
The Living Years is not Foreigner, but Mike and the Mechanics, with Paul Carrack on vocals, another very good singer.
