Bob and Brad recommended an excercise that works wonders for me. Lie in your back and bend each knee toward your chest ( one at a time) for ten repetitions each. I do two sets of these. The relief is immediate.

They also advised to lightly massage the frontal - inner portion of the legs ( lymphatic pathways ) from the ankle up towards the groin to facilitate lymphatic fluid return from the feet upward .
It doesn't really seem that it would provide any benefit - however - if I compare doing that motion at that location compared to doing it at any other area of my legs - I can feel a dramatic difference in the sensation - so I consider that to be evidential foundation for their claim
Edit - now that I think more about the exact area - I start at just behind the top of my ankles and go straight up towards close to the bend at the back of the knee then close the middle of the inside thigh towards the groin

I cured it on my own & it’s never been back👏👏Mine was definitely from high sugar intake. And that’s not always sweets, as it can simply be high carbs (ie sugar) as well. High fructose corn syrup being some of the worst & it’s in sooooo many everyday foods🙈
This started happening to me in my mid 40’s. It scared the F out of me. I knew I’d end up giving myself Type II diabetes if I didn’t change & I’d only have myself to blame.
The first thing I needed to change was my mindset. I had to learn that getting healthy was a form of self love, not deprivation.
We only get one body so we must try our best. Of course I have bad days, but I pick back up & keep taking care of myself the next day. I don’t deprive myself, but I do my best to plan out those days where I know I’ll eat unhealthy food like on holidays etc.
Like so many of us, I was raised with sweets as “rewards.” I love sweets so much there were times I’d rather eat 1/2 a chocolate cake than a meal🙊
I had to get real with myself that I had a sugar addiction along with disordered emotional eating.
I learned to check in with myself each time I wanted to eat with the following:
    F.L.A.B.S.
    Was I experiencing….
    Fear
    Anger
    Loneliness
    Boredom
    Stress
So often we’re eating from habit & those issues above when we struggle with emotional eating. Meal planning by at least having a few healthy options around or full on meal planning & freezing too, can keep you on track.
I try to see all the junk or high carb (carb=sugar) foods as POISON, no matter how good they smell or taste. Why would I want to poison myself on a regular basis?!
    Here’s what I did:
    1. Lost 40lbs & still going.
    2. Had major bloodwork with nutritional panel. I was low on a few vitamins & minerals.
    3. Started using an app to track my overall nutritional values daily. It tracks supplements as well. I started educating myself on nutrition from various sources.
    4. Most of the time I eat a clean keto diet of whole foods & mostly plant based. There are tons of options these days.
    5. I put great emphasis on liver health as it can determine much of our overall health. I removed most sugars, artificial sweeteners & protein isolates (in many protein bars, powders & packaged plant based foods)
    6. I’ve never been great at exercising, but I started moving more.
    6. Intermittent Fasting:
I eat mostly on a 16/8 schedule. I also try to do one full 24hr fast per week. This has blown my mind how easy it’s been & the wonderful effects.
Do your research in multiple places.
Check out Dr Berg here on UA-cam.
I hope this can help anyone who may need it🙏
You CAN become healthier at ANY age & enjoy doing it✊❤️‍🩹

Lipodermatersclerosis causes swelling also. It’s usually concentrated from shins down to feet. (Have been to Dr to have veins closed off. But swelling hurts)Doctor states that every hour get up and walk around for at least five minutes or so. Do not play or be an active for 45 minutes or more without moving the legs. Hope this helps other folks who may be suffering from this condition

Very helpful video. I have had a desk job for decades and had no problems with my legs or feet. Then my parents had to be entered into nursing care, but since they were in a city about 3 1/2 hours from my house, I began driving to check on them every week or two. All of this driving began to cause me lots of lower leg and feet swelling . So these tips are great. Thanks.

For the third year, as soon as the summer comes with temperature of 25°C and above, my left foot swells. Something inside has been destroyed through assymetrical sitting or some blockage in the gut. I really enjoy crossing my legs and stabilizing myself that way on a revolving chair. If I wear tall winter boots (yes in the summer) and go for a walk, the liquid gets drained, but that doesn't address the cause. The skin remains a scar tissue from rashes once the swelling is gone, it does regrow lost hair. I found that the keto diet helps, but it is hard to sustain.

    • @s.winfrey
      @s.winfrey 2 роки тому +6

I think I’m having the same issue but for me it’s both legs. I started having rashes then a day or 2 later feet are swelling and it has never happened to me until I moved here in Barcelona.
However there is an area which I used to visit in Kenya called Kisumu it’s also hot so every time I would go my feet would look weird but I used to think it’s bcz of sitting for hours bcz we used to drive there and it was 7 hrs driving but lately I don’t think it’s about sitting. I think it’s the heat, I don’t understand what it does but it’s not far. I will go see a Dr to know more.
Another thing, I’m not finding many content on feet swelling caused by heat ( summer time)

I really enjoyed this video ❤. I have naturally begun doing many of these things and I always tell people that I use everything around me as a “tool for healing” because the pain I experience is so extreme and so constant that I go days without any sleep because of it. I have gastraperesis and cyclical vomiting syndrome, among other ailments but the bulk of the pain stems from those two. So gas pain is literally always shooting around my body and I’m always nauseous. After much “western medical intervention “ over 12 years, I finally stopped seeing my doctor, who was keen on simply prescribing more and more meds, and I weened myself off of all my medication, and I began an aggressive, self imposed healing regime. Utilizing many Eastern Philosophical Methods which I adapted to do in my home environment as well as streamlining them to assist in healing my specific pain, I am not only feeling much better than I have in years but I feel a new sense of control. It was interesting to see some of the things I have incorporated naturally in this video. I never thought a video on swollen feet would keep me so interested. Glad you were in my feed. ❤

Hi Doris, firstly let me say sorry for your the long term discomfort you’ve been living with, believe me I know what that feels like. This is my first year without a back pain since I started growing chest hair at 14.
      Some common causes of feet swelling you can start consciously looking out for include;
      - Being Medically Overweight
      - Standing or sitting for long periods at a time (says over 5 hours everyday)
      - Consuming too many foods with a lot of salt content; Fries.
      - Venous insufficiency; veins aren’t pumping effectively.
There’s a few more, you can search for them here on UA-cam too. Hope this helps.

In 1993, my sophomore year of high school, I rolled my right ankle so badly that it swelled to the size of a softball. Days later, when they were able to do an x-ray after some of the swelling went down, we found out I didn't break anything, it was all soft tissue damage, told there was nothing that could be done and I was placed in a walking cast and given pain meds, anti-inflammatories, and physical therapy. For 15 years I would randomly re-injure it, and be told the same thing, "You didn't break anything but you have the arthritis of a 90 y/o in that ankle. Here's some pain meds, anti-inflammatories and a script for PT". One dr finally said I had to be seen by an Orthopedic surgeon, so after 15 years the ankle was FINALLY, well, if not fixed, much better. The surgery took almst 3 hours, they had to do so much to fix the damage to my ankle. I was told by the ortho that I should have had something done with it months after the injury.
I have also had a large lipoma taken off the top of my right foot, and in that SAME SPOT 2 years later I had surgery to remove bone spurs from the top of my foot. I now have some lovely scars on both feet from those surgeries, and have been told that permanent scar tissue/arthritis will be a lifelong issue.
On top of that, I have MS, have been diagnosed for going on 24 years now. Several of the medications we found out I am "allergic" to, as they made my feet/legs/ankles swell like balloons. The swelling went down as soon as I stopped the medications. However, for several years now I have not been able to wear any type of "regular" shoe. I can only wear mens sandals, as they are the only thing that will fit around the giant things I call ankles. I would love to be able to take down some of my leg swelling, but at this point I fear it's permanent because of all the abuse I had to put my legs through, thanks to all my pother weird issues.

One day I woke up and out of nowhere my foot looks swollen. I go to one doctor ( a foot doctor ) and he says that the swelling looks like it’s my foot because that’s where all of the fluid is but it’s actually coming from my leg. Within a few weeks I could tell it was coming from my calf. It’s been months now and nobody seems to know what’s going on. They checked for a clot but there isn’t one. A few days ago my foot felt like it was on fire. That’s the only way I can explain it

Suffering with left foot/ankle swelling since High School. Was on cheerleading team and stomped too hard, heard/felt a pop, and had swelling ever since. Was told it was lymphedema but after 30+ years later was told it was CVI. Now I'm unsure where/why there is a blockage but would like a Lymphogram/Lymphoscintigraphy or Venogram to pinpoint and hopefully correct the issue. Swelling goes down overnight but eventhough I religiously wear compression stockings it's back by 5p. Therefore I elevate, do calf pumps, lost 40 lbs, and even had my GSV closed with no success. Frustrated!!! Any suggestions???

Excellent overview and valuable insights! I started having inexplicable swelling in my feet and ankles in my mid-20s. Had numerous tests done to rule out vascular or thyroid issues. I work out daily and eat organic, non-GMO fresh foods and was baffled by the swelling. After years of my own observation, the three primary factors seem to be inflammation from any type of sugars, gluten intolerance (which also causes inflammation), and significant changes in humidity and barometric pressure (e.g., my feet and ankles always swell when I’m in Latin America).
I’ve cut out all sugars from my diet (even eating low FODMAP) and have things under control, but I’m going to try some of the stretching and rolling massage techniques. Thank you for these very helpful tips!

Concrete flooring is “positive” or “negative” depending on the materials used to create it. If you research info on the affects of each has on human bodies you will be surprised. Usually it’s the “positive” concrete that causes distress on feet and legs, there are special mats to stand on concrete for this distressing affect. However, better to find another flooring area to stand on and avoid the painful feet and legs distress.

And I chug it too. It even feels good on my heart. But yeah, it does suck being pregnant. I get out of breath for nothing. I'm in the latest trimester & will still feel/ get sick. And ud think I'd be tired... no, she just won't stay still. Which sure, that's cute. But imagine walking around w/ that weight on u. My sleeping is incoveniently selective. Sometimes I feel like I gotta hold my belly up just to walk. Walking on swollen feet, of course. My feet don't have a sharp pain. It's just uncomfortable. But they do feel itchy 🤔🤷🏻‍♀️

This is a great video! I pulled a groin muscle years ago and never really healed, now the trouble has propagated to my knee, and I really have to concentrate on keeping my foot straight when walking. knee/ foot /toes want to turn out away from midline. Listening to how your feet hit the ground helps you know if you're doing better or not. Making a point of good upright posture when walking identifies the tight spots too. Interesting, I tried the walking uphill backwards and I could feel it all around both hip joints. I do this every morning for about 1/4 mile, halfway through my morning walk.

I had SWELLING edema for long time, over a decade, maybe longer. Tried many treatments including those tormenting pressure socks which just transfer swelling. Doctors did know cause. For a recent infection, was prescribed doxycyclineby a doctor for infection. Side effect was that Edema also went away quickly. Edema has never returned. You would be amiss not to try it if you don't know cause of your swelling.

My partner and I both suffered from edema (oedema) in our old age (80s). The NHS (in the UK) says this is due to excess fluid in the blood, probably due to heart conditions (from which we both suffered). The standard NHS treatment is to prescribe diuretics to induce excess urination and thereby extract water from the blood.
My partner died last year due to kidney failure, for which I blame the diuretics. I so wish I had stopped her taking these because edema does not cause death but diuretics probably cause kidney failure (in the long term). Also they reduce the quality of life to zero because the patient is virtually chained to the toilet and can't go out of the house.
My own edema was cured when my doctor changed my blood pressure medication from (previously prescribed) Amlodipine to Lercanidipine. It took about six months but it disappeared completely.

Strengthening all the muscles (big and small) in legs, ankle, and feet is extremely important. Wearing shoes that apply constant arch support weakens those muscles over time increasing your chances of tearing a ligament or twisting an ankle or even worse. People need to be walking barefoot more often. If you have to wear shoes then go with the barefoot shoes.

I have ended up in hospital twice on strong IV antibiotics because I get a bit of swelling, but main problem is my feet curl up side to side like an arch and push up the bone for the middle toe, cuts off circulation and I get like some gangrene in those toes. I aso have dry discolored skin from half way down the calf.
I have had cat scans, ultrasounds etc and they find no vein or artery problems, blood sugar is slightly high but not much, but the curling of the foot is very painful and the sores on the toes are hard to control and the curling up of the foot is constant pain many days. I take magneisum, tumeric with black pepper, compression socks, tried stretching etc, the only thing that really seems to do much is stay totally off my feet.
It seemed to start with cramps/knots in the lymph system down the outside of my calf, from the knee down, I raised this with every doctor, including a bunch of specialists and they seem to all ignore this info about how it started to develop, but remain otherwise mystified. In the early days I could massage just these knotted points and get good relief and see the swelling go down as you watched.
It's at the point where I am not really interested in wasting any more time with the doctors because it is near zero result, many conflicting explanations etc etc, at least some of them are bullshitting because they can not possibly be all correct. Plus it is very time consuming and expensive, even with top health cover (Health insurance in Australia is not really insurance, it only covers part costs, you just cannot get insurance that covers full costs).
About the only thing that seems to bring relief other than total rest with elevated feet is I got an electric vibrating massage unit, 24VDC, from a massage chair and vibrate my feet fairly intensively and get some temproary relief, but maybe a hour.
Could this really be just from a long lived golden staph infection, or was that maybe a coincidence?
    What to do?

Try eating a large green salad every day. Like one entire bagged salad kit. That will get rid of the swelling. Also take a total mineral supplement like from Youngevity. Start putting an ointment with silver in it on any inflamed areas. Like Curad silver. Best wishes. I feel your pain and it has to be scary.

What does "get a note for a chair "mean? I asked my last "Dr" to refer me to a neurologist if he couldn't understand and help me, but he refused to. I am so disheartened by doctors "treatment" and want my life and health now..

What I meant by "note for a chair" is that I have had success writing letters to the employer so that the worker does not have to stand at work as much if they are in pain but want to keep working. Employers are more flexible these days.

As long as you wear warm, long, tight fitting stockings, you are fine. Some ppl who wear tight compression stockings, it helps at first but after a while, suffer as blood circulation is hindered. If you must wear them, do not wear them too long.

And check with a vein expert that can do ,xrays on your legs n feet, the podiatrist didn't really help me but my cardiologist referred me to a vein specialist that recommended all the above n TODAY I am doing very well.

I suffered from edema and was taking Amlodipine. My GP changed the blood pressure medication to Lercanidipine and my edema slowly disappeared completely over about six months. (My age is 85). If you are prescribed a diuretic (standard NHS treatment) I must say that, in my opinion, that is likely to cause kidney failure in the long term.

I had rather bad Edema in both of my legs, I noticed the change in my legs just after Christmas and put it down to still having a bit of a lazy mans Covid belly.
Then it came too late March-April time and things suddenly escalated, they were not so much painful or sore by themselves but had really nasty and heavy swelling, ankle problems including pain making walking incredibly uncomfortable. I went to the hospital and the Doctors checked me over and put me on antibiotic once they'd ruled out a DVT. At first felt as if they were working, they were not and had a gut feeling it was never Cellulitis. Went for my next week check up which had me in severe anxiety mode as they wanted to rule out the more serious problems aka heart failure, lung problems. Had a chest x-ray was given water pills and a week later came back everything was fine. Over time the Edema in my right leg has now completely gone down to pretty much normal sized leg, the left however has reduced enough for it to be closer enough to normal leg size but it is still swollen slightly, still a little inflamed and has me on watch mode to be safe. it's kind of gotten stuck at the same size. I am now using compression stockings on my left leg from my ankle upto my knee to keep it regulated. In the end they couldn't find any major cause and put it down to Stasis Dermatitis which caused poor circulation. For years I kept getting a weird pins and needles tingling sore sensation through my feet and toes when exhaling heavily, and in my hands too. This was accompanied by sudden onset anxiety with symptons that didn't fit anxiety, swallowing issues and all through my twenties. I sit down alot but I get up and move about every 30 to 60 minutes. I am monitoring it due to the slow onset and length my Edema lasted and the fact it was bilateral with no known usual suspect being the cause. My biggest worry is Diabetes type 2 giving me some early warning signs in my mid 30s as it runs in my family and know it can lay dormant for decades in some people. I still do not 100% know what caused my legs and ankles to swell as huge as they did or why whatever was causing it is certainly not gone just gone into remission maybe, are my legs even the problem or a warning to worst?.

Lymphedema is a real disease. Hard to manage. Keys included daily exercise, self massage, wearing compression stockings, drinking lots of water, and elevating your legs. It can be very painful. Super high risk of cellulitis. I've had about 20 cases of cellulitis in my life. Almost had to have leg amputated 3 times. Fix was strong IV antibiotics in the hospital. Not fun

Prior to eventually getting all hip and knee replacements, I also had 4 bouts of cellulitis that forced hospital stays. My mother passed during the first bout. Fortunately before she passed, we had been put in the same hospital, so I did see her a final time. But since all my surgeries, I move more, go to the restroom without trying to hold it, etc., and I haven't had a bout in 8 years now.

Please believe what I'm about to tell you and research it. It could save your extremities. Regrettably, many doctors promote amputation rather than this, because few know about it. It's called Hyperbaric Oxygen. You may have heard of scuba divers needing Hyperbaric Oxygen to survive a diving accident. But it also saves extremities. When you lay in a Hyperbaric Oxygen chamber, it sends oxygen into your body at a cellular level and kills viruses and bacteria. It increases blood flow throughout the body.
Dr. Gunnar Heuser was my doctor and was published in the New England Journal of Medicine about his solvent poisoned patients with Toxic Encephalopathy and the benefits of Hyperbaric Oxygen for to increase blood flow to the brain and throughout the body.
I know a teenager who was injured playing football and his leg was not healing. Doctors were advising amputation. I made sure he knew about Hyperbaric Oxygen treatments, so he asked his doctors to prescribe it. After receiving Hyperbaric Oxygen treatments, his leg was saved and he recovered.
Few doctors know about Hyperbaric Oxygen chambers. It is sad that some insurance requires 2 extremities amputated first before authorizing it, when Hyperbaric Oxygen could save the extremities from amputation.
Best wishes to you all. Please research Hyperbaric Oxygen, because doctors don't even know what it is. I did it and fell asleep in the chamber. I awoke rejuvenated, energized, and felt like I had just experienced the best rest that I'd had in decades.
