Back at Japan's biggest car auction to see if there are any good deals to be made. After looking around it doesn't take long to find some cars that have misleading reports. You can no longer trust the auction report. But on the bright side, we have started to notice that the pricing on a lot of car models has come down. They are getting cheaper!
Prices may have gone down in the auctions but that's not gonna stop the importers here in the US to mark them up high especially since people will pay the money
Correct but if you dont pay it and show that prices have gone down they will have no choice but to lower their prices
How will prices ever go down when these cars are essentially a limited quantity item with unlimited demand since everyone who buys these expects it to be an “investment” and therefore won’t sell it unless they get more than they paid for it, which further drives the prices up
@@stefan_4508 yes 100% but it all depends what you’re looking for if you’re talking about GTRs and supras then ye I don’t think they will ever come down but it’s gona cost you no matter what or where you are if you want a clean car
@@stefan_4508 they aren’t as limited as importers make them out to be
It’s always gonna be more expensive in the us I mean like it cost money for the car to be imported
Always love seeing the auction and dealership videos, they keep us upto date with prices. Especially love seeing the rare cars and @SAMMIT turning kid in candy store.😎😂
Enjoyed these episodes showing auction lot.
"Yo this car is smoking, let's go there and rev the shit out of it!" LOL
So cool. Love seeing the auction yards and what these things are going for over there.
My day just go better thanks for uploading sam I was just binge watching for a bit and the video popped up❤💯👍🏼
12:24 Are we not going to talk about how he missed Seji's evo 4? I would have loved it if he reviewed it

I like how the japanese go from honest to greedy. The auctions are the best example. Glad my imports where not as bad as what is now available.
Many exporters in japan arent Japanese so you have to do alot of homework on them as alot are shady as hell!!

Keep doing auction videos, i love learning where the markets at and seeing what to look out for 🔥

15:27 this rx7 was grade 4b before it was regraded to an R grade last week, the auction pictures and underbody pictures were so misleading with all that rust and engine problems.
could please tell the name of the Auction?

Are they running?

R34 GTR mightnight purple just sold for $450,000 AUS at auction in japan, the prices are hardly going down haha
Considering the price to import one to North American, I would expect that auction prices have gone down because fewer people want to pay to ship them.
4:04 love the jab at Grant!!! Epic! Like hearing Sammit watches LZ/TommyFyeah
Why the heck are you so afraid of rust Sam?? It is totally fixable!! I come from Canada and cars from 4-5 years ago are already starting to desintegrate..... I've fixed more rusted out 20 y-o cars in my life than any other issues.... I hope cars in Japan are ready to get saved under my expertise!! Can't wait to go back...
lmao very true, a lot of peeps dont wanna tackle it though.
My heart sank when sammit just looked at the st162 celica from a distance, when in a previous video he said he liked them more than the st205
@Ann-Go To My ChanneI! L!VE NOW ya I know thats one of the reasons. What I was saying was he didn't even look at the st162 celica even thought he said he preferred their look of the other ones, and he looked at the one right next to it
6:52 that ST165 though. I bought a used 1986 Celica GTS and unbeknownst to me it was a freaking monster of a car, wow. Blue smoke burnouts almost everyday, power in almost every gear, and for about a month i had no idea how fast i was going because the speedometer cable was broke on it. Power cloth seats, power sunroof, power heated mirrors, and the liftback with a back seat i always had folded down for space. Long story short i heard water sloshing around on a dry sunny day and wondered where it was coming from. Took the spare tire cover off and found a swimming pool of water where the spare tire was at and both rear wheel arches were completely rotted out from rust. Had to let it go, but dang it was fun. Pop up headlights too.
So cool. Love seeing the auction yards and what these things are going for over there
I really love these auction vids tho Sam keep doing these as I'm looking into importing something in the near future
Love watching ur content and at least sammit shows us how a Japan car auction goes but the one comment is right the prices may have gone done but the importers will charge us like crazy
instead of having to many stupid projects car why not focus on few one and get a quality project car that tou can enjoy more rather than wasting on a a pile of unfinished or never will be finished projects car
So that Blue Spirit R, sad to see but a simple failure looks like. So some very odd occasions you can actually have a coolant seal fail on the inside and outside of a rotor housing, which would be where you can see that smoke coming up from the engine bay also, could have also been a coolant seal failure with an exhaust leak, which so many actuators and seals and moving parts down there could have been a lot of things, picking that thing up cheap is just a quick rebuild away from being a nice car☺️🥰
it was so sad to see, you need someone to inspect in person. This particular spirit R was given a grade 4b, however if you look at it - there's no way this is a 4. It went unsold with a starting bid of 3,480,000 yen and came up again last week but given an R grade with front end damage.
Literally every one of these videos I’m sat here going “wait! I want that one! Let me send you some money to buy it for me!”
I’ve never seen so many Type R’s and so many Type R’s ignored in the same video. Honda’s out here disrespected 😂😂
I live close to the ports in both Newark and Elizabeth New Jersey. I have been looking at some Japanese cars coming off the ports lately. And some of the prices are pretty good. I have been looking for an older R33 or R34. Thank you for making these videos. Love seeing these classic cars in their natural habitat lol
What site are you seeing these cars on, I live by that port too n been interested in getting a JDM imported. Need a site for a reliable auction
It was a huge market in Canada years ago, but then the used car companies started to cry due to people buying Japanese used cars oppose buying the local used cars, then insurance were being pressed due to government. Now you need to be 35 years of age and can only use a JDM car for pleasure driving only. Otherwise the insurance is something like almost 10,000.00 a year if it’s your daily driver.
That’s a sad story tbh
I know a guy racing an MR2. Swapped in a 2ARFXE, dual intake cams advanced, the dual VVT from the 2ARFE and a Haltech for an ecu. 260BHP on 91-93 octane petrol.
Was waiting for someone to upload 💜
That turret rust on the Nissan is super common in that place. just needs repairing properly
Hot tip for the drift taxi build: Buy a jzs171 sedan, they come with the turbo 1jz vvti and you can just buy the taxi bits to put on it. They sell for around $7k aud at auction so not bad considering you don't have to swap the engine
Shipping prices are way up, that's probably having an effect on the car prices.
Ports are getting backed up just a about everywhere
Yes saw this coming a while back and it will most likely get more expensive.
Sam, you should build another forged miata roadster for your wife. The forged miata was your best build ever. You know what to do know and it would be an easy build/gift for your wife. 400 rwp would destroy alot of cars on the road for May.
Perfect timing, my S15 is set to arrive in country on Sunday after a week and a bit at sea. I guess I should have waited a bit longer and saved some cash. But true about the auction sheets. The guys I bought through would send an inspector out to any car I was interested in and take tons of pictures, especially underneath and in the engine bay. So many cars had incredibly misleading auction sheets.
Yeah, just like Kalvin Malli was told "rust is to a minimal".... Hope it works out 👍
@@sg3260 Thanks! Best thing to do is try to find someone else with an imported car and ask who they used and if they were good or not. I saw a guy with an R34 (Non-GTR) and asked him who he used. Process has been pretty good so far.
can i message you with a couple questions about the process? looking to do the same soon and would like some pointers
It's not that complicated importing a car yourself. The paperwork is tedious and more time consuming, but if you don't want to pay these insane markups, diy is the way to go.

Engineered Performance Racing (EPR) builds legendary VG30
it's a vg20
Thank you for making these videos. I love these
Everytime i watch your videos I debate going bankrupt 😂 Those two sunburst miatas looking mint btw scored one of my own last year 👌🏼
That has got to be the cleanest looking B12 at 11:48 I've even seen in my life 😅
Really hope that rx7 wasn't cold when you revved it right after starting it
The charger on massive wheels at 20:21 seems so out of place for an auction in Japan hahahahaha
This is why I paid the dealership prenium extra fee for my 1991 Honda Beat, it was for sale next door from me and was imported in 2017, was able to see the car in person and test drive it vs overseas gamble.
At 13:20 in the video you over looked the white Mitsubishi starion. Old school rear wheel drive from the 80s.
Always funny seeing a high grade on rusty piles 😂
i love how i was recommended this video after your newest one.
Great videos but please try to show entire board for auctions... It would be cool to see everything, we can follow which cars you are asking about either way. Thanks!
The 180 gets a grade 2 because of those need for speed underground rear lights 😂😂
Man those two S13s in the beginning were so clean!
The people there just have a quick glance at the body and go “alright 2” lol
That black zzt231 celica at the start is sweeeet
those auctions are faaaast. like 10 seconds of time to bid and it's gone
JDM cars just got unreasonable hyper prices...
Seriously!
We used to get the toyota mark 2, chaser, cresta tourer v around 2,500 $ at maximum price in 2003~2005 and the Skyline GT-S GTT around 2,500 ~ 3000 $ and the GTR 32 & 33 in 6000 $ at the highest bid and the 34 GTR was around 20k ~ 35k at the VERY maximum price in that time, some of them were around 8k to 15k but with high mileage.
Today the 34 GTR with fake car odometer around 200k, and the mark 2, chaser, cresta around 30k what a joke!
I love these! Just walking the lot is cool to me.
12:24 I remember seeing that Evo in a car meet video you done months ago I remember because he had the same monster sticker on the hood like lz does or did.
Unpopular opinion: mr2 zzw30s are slept on. I bought mine back in 2017, nobody knows what it is. It handles well. I did just blow up my 1zz in august, but my car's sitting at 149.8k Miles. The 1zz is just a basic corolla economy motor, so hopefully by spring I'll have it back on the road with a 2zz. It will be an oem+ mr'-s. Or a better lotus elise (with an interior, power steering, and abs.
I have a feeling the auction inspectors don't bother looking under the hood anymore and just judge it by the exterior and interior.
I'm already expecting to see some of these cars next time I'm near the Air Force Academy those fly-boys love their imported whips
very disappointed you didn’t look at the dc5 type r next to the toyota chaser you reviewed as the 2nd car.
Can't believe they got in that RX-7, started it and not only did not immediately shut it off once discovering the smoke, they cold-start revved it. Jokers.
The stagea grade 3.5 c pretty sure means 3.5 for exterior and c for interior. There’s no rust grade, which they should have.
When Sam just walked past a dc5 like it’s nothing 🥺🥺🥺
Felt that 🤧
Hey Sam just wanted to know what cars you have back in Australia. I've been watching since the Miata but never have seen your vids back at home.
He used to have a R34, think it was a GTT. Sold if for a Honda Civic he put NOS on i belive to see if it blow up. The car never gave up and its still there , if he havent sold it while in Japan. The videos are on here, but on no play list.
"what if the pistons fly out" he forgot it was a rotatory xD
lmao fr, surprised no one caught that
5:23 decimal point is in the wrong spot lol!
Wish you would spend some time going over the MR2s you see.
Awesome video- would like to know your advice and recommendations for importing a JDM car to Australia? Do you recommend going through a middle man?
long time i havent seen an mitsubishi starion , next to the gt4 celica
Thank you for the video. Good looking out!
they should put a NOTES pages on the auction cars so if someone notices something weird they can write it down for others,,,,, not sure if they have that??
Sam was all loving that wagon and then....rust monster attack!
Fingers crossed that the market can settle down once Covid goes away
Hoping I can still get a Skyline for a reasonable price
Prices have not gone down in Japan, r32 black gst-t bid 2.92 milion yen 220000km ( grade 3)
16:42 wow how can anyone sleep at night knowing how bad the corrosion issues are with that RX7
mental, my stagea was a grade 3, surface rust on the bolts at worst
Dude that spirit R was super clean, definitely needs an engine rebuild
for someone who loves JDM and is british right hand drive and cheap 80's to 90's is right up my alley!
sadly i cant go japan till im 20 :(
DAMN U PARENTS!
Dang sounds rough lol
5:35 "rust is to a minimal" lol
How did you just walk past the Integra Type R without batting an eye. It was right next to the chaser.
Price of cars may of gone down but shipping has skyrocketed and theres alot more countries after joining the market
1:49 almost said "mint" 😂
I cant wait to get my jzx100 mark ii from the auctions, these videos rlly help. Iv been saving up all summer

we need more of these in the USA, the smaller the better. gas prices in the USA are crazy I want a really small jdm/kei car.
Yeah I’m actually getting a a70 Supra here in a week or so, it’s a auto and it’s got the 7mgte in it. It’s really cheap and mostly rust free.
Nice man
Bro legit looks like they put fibreglass resin on the strut tops to keep it holding together
That beeping you were hearing was the low coolant warning on the spirit r
That Stagea is a death trap... I'm loving the S13, 180 & DR30 are sweet!
i saw adam made a insta story like a week ago saying to ask for auction reports to get a true perspective of a car and all i could think of is your auction video of how rigged auction reports are now 🤣
I could just watch you sitting in the auction house all day long
if those prices are in jpy, the white FD RX7 was only 20k USD. no wonder these importers are still in business
SAMMIT, the clutch pressure switch is an American compliance thing. It became law in the early '90s
They have been used here since like late 80s, but mandatory on manual transmissions in like 93.
0:00 perfect celica
That type r next to the chaser looked mint
As the 1st person camera view, make me dizzi. But I like the way you show us the cars in auction. Please consider some stabilizer to your camera and make less move around if you can hold the camera in your hands, not your head.
Sam 1 year ago: I like the mark ii, chasers are ugly
Sam today: mark ii are the ugly ducklings, I like chasers
Trying to get a starlet that isn't a lemon without someone to inspect the actual car has been hard honestly
Im glad I bought my s15 at the perfect time. 7 years ago. Value is crazy nowdays.
I mean in America there gonna still be expensive because of the cost to get the car to America
That wasn't a gts- t bid 1.1 milion yen under reserve , rb20de factory with turbo . It a ra grade been in a major accident can't import it
