if you want to see more of Brennan (not as dark but still great) he DMs on the Dimension 20 channel! The guy who played Nydas also plays on that channel, I watched some of the campaigns on there before this and they are incredible :D
I love how the music's theme is still quite similar in its core to the other ExU opening music ones, but with a different spin. And the corruption of the golden chains... Damn
Someone in the twitch said the intro is the exu intro but in a minor key, which is honestly a genius move to make the same music sounds much more ominous
The ExU intro was already in a minor key. This is just a darker rendition. Edit: To elaborate further, the darker tones conveying hopelessness and a grittier reality are a direct result of a heavier reliance on chromaticism, the use of non-chord tones in a piece. The standard ExU opening is much more tonal, conveying heroism and hope.
i dont know how but this theme perfectly encapsulates the feel of The Calamity "An era of arcana, when Gods and men walked the same earth. But something terrible, is about to happen"
this opening really gives the feeling of an impending doom that can not be stopped. the calamity will happen, and there is nothing they can do to stop it
Fucking chills every time. It is so beautiful and epic. Also, I love listening to music on train and looking out the window, when you got the right music it feels like an epic soundtrack and this one is absolutely perfect for this activity. If any of y'all get the chance - try it. I'm serious.
I NEED an hour long version of this!!! Its so epicand perfectly captures the feeling of a large scale *calamity* unfolding, its so good to write with for intense scenes!
To note the changes in storytelling Medallions: The Cobalt Soul medallion stayed the same. Did they exist back then???? Who knows. 1. For Travis, Same as the last. Several theories on this one but I agree with those who think it's the "Betrayer" gods being sealed behind the divine gate by the "Prime Deities." 2. For Aabria, I THINK it's Vassalheim being warred over by the forces of the gods. This is the one I'm most uncertain on. 3. For Sam, it's Melora, the Wildmother, and Asmodeus, Lord of the Hells, staring in opposite directions. 4. For Lou Wilson, it's the City of Cathmoira, I believe. The City of thrones, Sister to Avalir. 5. For Marisha Ray, it's the Matron of Ravens, the Raven Queen. Hell yeah. We still don't know her name. 6. For Luis Carazzo, it's a Xhorhasian Beacon, but Caleb's hands are not presenting it anymore. Maybe Dunamis ran by different rules in the age of Arcanum. Maybe it was entirely unknown. Who knows what it means. And for Brennan [SPOILERS FOR THE END OF EXU] It's Avalir, city of crowns, slowly going dark as it crumbles and dies. Feel free to correct me!!
well the cobalt soul is dedicated to the preservation of knowledge. the wiki says they were created just after the calamity, so they could have written tales or transcribed spoken ones that survived the calamity in their libraries
Maybe a bit late, but I read a comment on the original EXU Intro video that 1. could be the gods giving (divine) magic to mortals. (A giant hand above with smaller, weaker hands below, that look more like they're receiving something, rather than reaching for help or being in despair) That explanation would also fit very well with the reasoning of certain characters within the miniseries.
After having seen all 4 episodes, coming back to see the intro, I found the musical tones very fitting per character. Listen to the music that's playing when each credit of the players and GM comes up. Now tell me that doesn't sound like each corresponding character!
This intro is so good. They took the main EXU song and switched it to a minor key. A lot of the “lighter” instruments are muted to make room for the brass, lower range strings, and percussion. Not to mention they limited the choir’s role compared to the main theme, only bringing it back for the climax in an almost “divine wrath” feel. Really adds a sense of dread to the intro. And that’s not even considering the visuals…
The stained glass windows (I think): 0:16 I'm not sure but someone i think said this is the cobalt reserve emblem 0:28 The gods granting mortals with divine magic during the founding 0:38 The Primordials attacking Vassalheim when they rose up. 0:45 The schism between the betrayer gods and the prime deities 0:54 The founding of Cathmoyra 0:59 Obviously the Ascention of the Matren of Ravens 1:07 Gonna be honest, havent got a clue what this is 1:16 The first rise of Avilir
This intro just hits so much harder because it’s so grand and you can really feel the sense of hopelessness because they were doomed from the start.
Here post Calamity end to say: An epic title fitting the most epic DM I’ve ever seen

The chain turning black and then slowly turning everything else black gave me chills the 1st time I seen it
Friend: How many times have you listened to this?
Me: Yes
Someone in the twitch said the intro is the exu intro but in a minor key, which is honestly a genius move to make the same music sounds much more ominous
It kinda reminds me of theHis Drak Material's intro, same vib. Probably because both use minor chords to get that ominous vib.
@@Mads-m6z YES I LOVED THAT SHOWS INTRO. It's so awesome, both of them

True.. It gave this vibe about end times are coming .. also some hope too.

The horns give me goosebumps every time, I love it.
Just realized that the credits are in alphabetical order by character first names.
Here I was, thinking it was following their seating order
That's what they did with the original intro too.
this opening really gives the feeling of an impending doom that can not be stopped. the calamity will happen, and there is nothing they can do to stop it
Agreed, the word that springs to mind for me: it feels inevitable.

@@A_Vicious_T-Rex There's a popular theory that the Orb of Knowledge that Patia sent to Cerrit's daughter helped create the Cobalt Reserve.
My only issue with this theme is: it needs to be longer.
And on Spotify
Thank you so much, I’m planning on analyzing the opening and I was worried I’d have to do so from one the actual episodes. Doing the lords work here!

Awesome music, gives me His dark materials vibes
damn honestly this intro slaps so hard, wish there was some kind of official version hoooo boy
I've wanted to buy this version of the song for so long but can't *sobs* I really love this song so much
I so badly wish this was available to listen to on Apple Music or Spotify
Same. It's so hard to find.
have we got any updates to this since your original post? so good and I need to find somewhere to download!!

It's the luxon beacon, it is there probably beacause of the link between it and the magic of Zerxus )the star and all)
Greetings from 2024. Why are they not using this for Downfall? I mean honestly!
Still giving me chills!
Beautiful opening. It's so ominous
Idk why but this intro give me some type of game of thrones vibes
Ah-mazing.
Is there any place to buy this???? it's so good
Really wish they used this for Downfall, guess I just have to play it myself over the top of the Bells Hells intro.
From where you're sitting, must feel like a 18-Karat run of bad luck. But the truth is... The game was rigged from the start.
*SPOILERS FOR THE LAST EPISODE*
when I realized that it’s Zerxus and Evandrin at 0:45 I freaked out a bit not gonna lie
its not Zerxus and Evandrin, its Asmodeus and Melora. would've been a super cool parallel tho!
@@acentric_ that does make a lot more sense as the opening mosaics were of the gods in the campaign, kind of like icons.
It is made with Blender?
Wow does anyone knows similar epic musics ?
Most of the "epic" music is kind of trash :p
