Fantastic videography, lighting, color work, and editing on this! @@happyslapsgiving5421 not really. This is a side campaign of just 8 episodes. It's just a place holder until they feel ready to start C3, which Matt said he expected to start around the end of summer. It's just extra content!
I hope they add Mica Burton at some point as well. I mean obviously not in this mini campain, but when they pass it on to the next generation as they have been talking about
Oh I think if they are self-contained arcs he definitely will be involved at some point. I don't want this to start an argument... But the cast of CR, Matt in particular have taken to heart the criticisms of them not exactly being racially diverse, or going an extra mile to elevate diverse voices on their main show (other than women with the group's natural male/female split). You can see this in critter hug, and with guest characters etc. So Brennan as another straight, white, cis, able-bodied, dude, already big in the space was never going to be on the first roster when they could elevate other voices with it. But if this does end up being modular and following smaller story arcs, I have no doubt in my mind that he'll show up 2nd or 3rd time around. I'm really happy they are giving Aabryia the driving seat, she seems to be a fantastic fit with the cast and crew.
I can't wait to see what everyone brings to the table - especially excited to see Robbie try out D&D since I'm already a huge fan of his voicework!!! This is going to be so much fun ✨

Oh this is gonna be so awesome! What a beautiful thing to see Exandria grow beyond Matt’s DMing. Seeing a world you create become self sustaining, something that will outlive you through the efforts of Aabria Iyengar, any future DMs, and the DMs at home running their own versions of the setting. An enduring, evolving, continuous creative endeavour
Calling this now, Matt is playing a Cleric or some kind of caster. at 0:05 it looks like he's acting out casting a spell while clutching some sort of holy symbol around his neck.
Could be! Remember though, they were play testing there. It's also quite possible they'll be playing different characters than what they used to see if the players and GM could mesh. Another thing to consider is what the intentions of showing those scenes was. Were they meant to hint or hide? They might have chosen those specific scenes in order to not give anything away. 🤷 We'll find out in a week and a half.
@Craig Bphone Oh no! A woman of color exists! Clearly must be the work of diversity liberal fear-mongers ruining yet another thing! And totally not a decision Matthew Mercer made of his own accord since Aabria is a dear friend of his. No, it must be the diversity conspirators!
@@CoolColton947 in all seriousness, i think they had probably wanted more cast diversity without having to replace their original cast, and they happened to have friends they had already wanted to join who would satisfy that anyway
@@macysboringchannel Idk, the term "diversity" is so loaded now-a-days that people use it to just make People of Color an object instead of people when included in a company. I fully believe this was just to have friends in and Aabria was one of the few who had her own GM chops as well as being a fan of the Exandria setting. The energy is still of friends having fun. Matt was genuinely excited to hand off the reins and Aabria herself was fangirling so hard it would be hard to say she was just brought in for the sake of being brought in. So I still believe this was planned, especially with talk of "Passing the Mantle" recently.

It does seem like a good way for the long campaign people to take a break when it might be needed. The cast, and Matt especially, probably need some short and long rests during those year long stretches because exhaustion points can get pretty high. I am very excited for Exandria Unlimited.
I will say, when I first watched Escape From the Bloodkeep, as a Critical Role fan, I wasn't into it. I was a bit put off by the production style and the very loud sound effects, and found the story setup boring at first. That changed. Stick with it through episode 3. In hindsight, it was very clever to have Aabria play Narrative Telephone, we've gotten to see how good of a storyteller she is with that short story of hers and I can't wait to see her as a GM. :D

I am so excited to finally see Matt get to be a player! I am incredibly torn though. I was late to the CR campaigns so I'm still watching through campaign 2 but I REALLY want to start watching this so I can be more or less up to date...
AIMEE?! MATT PLAYING?!? ASHLEY GETTING TO PLAY MORE DND?!?!
I'm so happy I'm gonna cry
Great cast and sure to be a great show! Can't wait honestly. Also nice to give the others a break for a bit. Not surprised to see Liam playing in this: I feel that man would play D&D 24/7 if no one was there to drag him away from the table every now and then! 🤣
Probably. If I had to pick a cast member who's addicted to the life of dnd, it's Liam. He's like the method actor of dnd.
“wait is that aimee carrero...?”
“it iS AIMEE CARRERO”
My thoughts exactly!
Yes! Yes, it is and I'm so excited by that!
I was thinking the same thing!!!
Yeah I'm excited to see her play. You can tell she's already hooked with that first HDYWTDT. It's always fun to see new players learn the wonders of the game.
Please tell me she's playing a female paladin with a shapeshifting weapon LOL
Aabria was an amazing story teller on narrative telephone. She's the perfect choice. I can't wait for this.
just a remined to everyone that Robbie is Hubert in Fire Emblem Three Houses, just let that sink in for a bit.
Also goro akechi from persona 5.
Two of my FE husbands in one thing... oh boy oh boy oh boy
Really, nice!
Also Prompto from FFXV, which is literally the complete opposite of Hubert haha. He can do it all. I hope he plays a bard or some sort of Charisma based character... Maybe a Sorcerer havent had a good one of those yet (as much as I loved Tiberius as a character)
Hahahaha this DOES get me more hyped thank you
YESSSSS AABRIA IS INCREDIBLE i'm so excited!
Be honest, the cinematics and voice over at the end gave you chills.

_Sees _*_the jacket_*
Oh yea, he’ll fit in wonderfully.
Oh yeah he will!
Robbie is a perfect fit for this series ngl, he has that same Riegel-esque energy
I was thinking myself with the comments that Sam isn't there, that it seems like the 2 of them at the same table would be too much. They'd end up playing off of each other so much that everyone else got overshadowed.
I dont know i always liked the episodes when Sam was not there less. I just dont know about a long running game without him.
It’s gonna be weird to see Matt as a player and I’m *sooooo* excited!
Congrats Aabria!
I have not stopped shaking in my boots in excitement since the second this was uploaded. I'm sooo fucking excited for someone else to DM and for new players to be introduced and holy fucking shit!!! So so so incredibly hyped. Is it thursday yet GOD DAMN IT
I teared up when Robbie started talking. I haven't watched EXU yet, but I know obviously that Robbie is part of campaign three. I don't know him at all, and I was hoping I'd like him, you know, since he's a new addition, and I love CR so damn much. I was a bit nervous, but man, hearing him speak, I instantly liked him, so I started to tear up much to my surprise. I'm glad he seems like such a good dude.
He'll be back
It's weird to think that 8 games is short when it will run for 2 months.
The fact that adora from she ra and Jesse from infinity train are playing dnd is amazing even more so the fact it’s critical role . Plus it’s kinda a reunion of Jesse and lake in a way !

Robbie Daymond is finally a guest in Critical Role. I’ve been waiting for this for a long time!
I love Matt, Ashley, and Liam - of course, we all do.
But I am really excited to see the new cast members this looks like a lot of fun.
I'm so excited for Aabria Iyengar to run and game and for Aimee Carrero and Robbie Daymond to play, but what I really wanted to say was kudos on this gorgeous piece! Fantastic videography, lighting, color work, and editing on this! The slow motion hand-held B-roll around the table was a delight, there was at least one *exquisitely* well-hidden jump cut in an interview portion, the graphic design and effects are subtle and sublime - your whole production and post-production team is so incredible and deserve recognition!
Initial reaction to new players at the table: "I don't know if they're going to bring the same magic..."
After listening to Aimee describe her first HDYWTDT: "The kids are gonna be just fine..."
Oh wow, I am super down for this. Not even for the part with Matt as a player, though that's awesome, I love the idea of a mini series like this! I feel that it will be really cool to see what they can do with fewer episodes, Pre recording (?) etc!
SUPER excited to see Aabria lead this series, she definitely has 20 Charisma and it shows!
Seems like a perfect team. And I'm impressed by the quality of communication. Slowly introducing us to Aabria in other shows, then this presentation, good job. Can't wait to watch it !
Im a later bloomer to this group and watched Campaign 3 first. Can't wait to watch and see more of Robbie! Fav dude by far.

I know, I kind of wish Brennan was a player though since he always has to DM, but I'm still excited for this.
@@hufflestuff1925 The modular natire of this makes me think Brennan could very well be involved in the future, along with hella other tabletop people
Oh I think if they are self-contained arcs he definitely will be involved at some point.

So excited to see this! I wanted to see Matt get to play in his sandbox for so long. Aabria is going to crush it as GM. Looking forward to seeing the dynamic with the newbies, Liam, Matt, and Ashley.
Then it’s also definitely a Dwarf.
maybe its them acting out in a oneshot, getting a feel for our new gm
oh actually they already streamed the first game didnt they? im a podcast viewer, is matt a cleric then?
@@g_vost He's actually a Sorcerer, or so it said on stream.

@Craig Bphone
Oh no!
@@macysboringchannel
Idk, the term "diversity" is so loaded now-a-days that people use it to just make People of Color an object instead of people when included in a company.
Damn the coward dirty deleted lol
A mini campaign? Yes, please. I love the Critical Role cast, but I’m so excited to see new actors and personalities play.
Bruh I literally finished She-ra last night and now I'm regiven the gift of Aimee. Also my lovely pancake boy Robbie. Only heard good things about Aabria. Looking forward to this immensely more than I thought I would.
I COULDN'T STOP SCREAMING, CRYING AND LAUGHING WHEN THEY ANNOUNCED AABRIA
Oh my gods 😭 That theatrical clip at the end got me sobbing.
The fact that Matt will be a player instead of the spectacular DM we know, I'm already hooked
so are yall just not gonna also bring up that Aimee played such a fun character on Blindspot with Ashley?? love that girl
I was initially upset at the thought of the reigns being in any one else's hands, but Matt's giddiness and excitement at handing things off to play in his own playground is phenomenal. And there is always the "official" campaign 3, but games that straddle those lines and have the possibility of rippling throughout Taldorei are hype as fuck.
I believe this is important to every RPG group: let the GM breathe.
@@talitaoliveira6543 Going almost nonstop for 5 years barring the beginnings of the pandemic must've been difficult. This will be a good breather for him. Plus I know the CR crew has an eye for talent.
I'm not trying to be mean but if your autocorrect is a jerk like mine, lol, it's "reins" not "reigns"...though I guess Aabria and Matt would both look great in crowns...
I have a hunch that Campaign 3 might be the last long-form campaign by Matt for CR
New player and Matt playing is such an amazing feel. Will give a whole new vibe .I miss those early days Travis still figuring how to attack and their first taste in a big world like that. A new DM is also a different way to show us Exandria.
After all the content Matt had blessed us and his players, he deserves a break and play for once.
I am a fan of many of Robbie's voiced characters in recent years, Goro Akechi in Persona 5 & Zhao in Yakuza: Like a Dragon to name a few. I can't wait to see what character he plays.
This really has the feel of Critical role starting to REALLY flex…. On to something big here
How fun to have interim games with different GMs! Gives the cast a break, they will be fresh for campaign 3. Maybe they can do a winter interim too!
It does seem like a good way for the long campaign people to take a break when it might be needed. The cast, and Matt especially, probably need some short and long rests during those year long stretches because exhaustion points can get pretty high. I am very excited for Exandria Unlimited.
@@teehlfx5238 exactly I think this will round out the channel in such a great way. And you’re right they are on 2 points of exhaustion at least! Hahah

Seconded. Both wonderful characters. Love them to death. And Matt is amazing as a player.
I will say, when I first watched Escape From the Bloodkeep, as a Critical Role fan, I wasn't into it. I was a bit put off by the production style and the very loud sound effects, and found the story setup boring at first.
