Thank y'all so much for the love, #Critters! ❤️ I seriously can't stop saying how amazing #CriticalRole has been for my music! 🏰⚔️🐉 But the ride is FAR from over-here's our #TalksMachina host, BRIAN WAYNE FOSTER's theme: ua-cam.com/video/yXa4d_a--fY/v-deo.html Enjoy!
"I am Percy Fredrickstein von Musel Klowssowki de Rolo III, my ancestry dates back thousands of years, and will continue for thousands more unless Whitestone falls. I live as long as Whitestone lives."
"I will never hurt her - I will never hurt anybody intentionally, especially not you - anymore than I already have. And in return I ask: never take your eyes off me. Never trust me. And that is the best friend you can be."
Percival Fredrickstein von Musel Klowssowki de Rolo III. The man whose name is only dwarfed by his goddam health bar. (Seriously he would make a terrifying boss for bloodborne)
I will admit: in the beginning, I didn't like Percy much. He wasn't memorable, Taliesin didn't talk much in the first few episodes, I didn't feel his personality. But then the Briarwood arc hit me like a speeding bullet and the complexity of Percy unraveled before the audience. If Taliesin was going through a moment of depression or just getting used to being on camera, I have no idea, but as soon as Kraghammer was over, he changed, he was no longer a companion tagging along the group. From that moment, Percy had a pivotal role in the rest of the campaign. A character worthy of a Greek tragedy. Percy is a character of many great lines, but there's one particular line that seems to be glossed over, the one that feels the most powerful to me, which he says in the very last episode he appears: "I was going to be a Clockmaker once, a lifetime ago". His delivery is so casual, yet so strangely powerful
Taliesin is an amazing character actor, and is no stranger to performance or the camera. He's also one of the only ones in the group who had played D&D at all before the show really started. They had done a home game and it evolved from there. I think Taliesin was holding back a bit to give the others a chance to really get their feet in the game, but also Percy was fairly introverted and brooding at that time without any real reason to engage. The Briarwood's mere mention was all it took to get him fully involved in the narrative from a PC standpoint.
@@manaphy1007 What in the world does that have to do with anything? He was beginning to engage with the plot more as soon as the Briarwoods were mentioned. Which is when Orion was still there. He wasn’t Satan. People like you need to stop blaming him for every little thing.
@@Nickle_King Orion isn't Satan, but it's undeniable how much smoother the gameplay and role-play got after he left. Yes the Briarwoods Arc was Percy's Arc and he started coming into it even before Orion left, but that Arc definitely wouldn't have turned out as great as it did if Orion stayed through it.
"I miss my family." Such a simple sentence, yet so profound for Percy. That line and this song really capture his inner turmoil, and I'm later than Vax meeting with Seeker Essum to spy on the Briarwoods, but I felt it needed to be said. This is amazing!
Kaat Brackeniers I've already tweeted at him, but to no avail. Maybe you could tweet it too! 😜 But I'm so glad you liked it, and found it so fitting for Taliesin!
A perfectly aristocratic tune that descends into terrifying, gothic madness with a melancholy hint right in the middle. This is Percival through and through I’m in lovE.
I think this one is my favourite theme out of all of the Crit Role themes you've made so far because the strings just feel so right for percy!! Like the harpsichord bit at the beggining captures his gritty wit and sarcasm and entitled nobility, but then the string laid against the brass (I think?) instruments when the music gets more dramatic I feel capture No Mercy Percy and a bit of an Orthax vibe too; i'm not sure how well I've explained myself here BUT GOOD JOB MAN THIS THEME IS SICK
It's funny, people have been saying "Oh, match this with the Whitestone rebellion!" But I think it's a much better fit for the equal parts redemptive and disastrous encounter at Glintshore.
Sounds like a classy Castlevania tune, and it's awesome how much of Percy seems rolled into this. Starting off with his usual classy facade of clever witticisms, then devolves further into gothic chaos as his self-control breaks down. Very well done and keep it up! :) I look forward to Grog's, personally.
ittyandpocky haha PD was actually one of the inspirations along with Sherlock Holmes! Thanks so much for the kind words-so glad you liked it! Check out Keyleth's theme I just posted, and stay tuned for more themes!
Yeah the Penny Dreadful theme is beautiful, one of my favorite show openings. I checked out all of your CR themes before commenting, really awesome stuff.
Loading... Thank you! I hope so too, though I've been having a little trouble getting their attention...😬 But I'll keep trying, and keep making music for #CriticalRole! ☺️
Its an amazing piece but I think its a bit too dynamic for use during the show, he mostly uses background/atmospheric music. That said this fits Percival SOOO well, it sounds like it was pulled right out of the characters internal monologue or something. I am just imagining the whole White Stone rebellion to this theme and its amazing.
As Percy is my favorite member of Vox Machina, I have to remark on much this nails his character. The cool harpsichord in the beginning, quickly joined by violin, then the sudden shift to the busy, almost frantic strings doing arpeggios in the background, and the way the violins build up to these big intense horns, then it cuts back a little to the violin, then cuts, and around 1:47 the rhythm does this really neat thing, and then has these flowing strings and horns with the drums constantly going underneath, like thunder and smoke. Then at 2:13, the high strings and the tiny harpsichord sound so sad, grieving. Then it goes major, then minor, and we're back to the starting harpsichord and strings melody. Then the frantic arpeggios comes in, and it builds and builds, then the horns are back and it's so dark and triumphant and terrifying and then it's gone, no more horns for a bit. It's all still driving, going forwards and finally it climaxes with the deep horns at bottom, and it just ends with the screech of a violin and deep brass. So good!
It really feels like meeting Percy. At first, you have this quiet, controlled, noble melody. It sounds good but doesn't seem that remarkable, but then it grows wilder, fierce, almost dangerous. And when the horn comes in it's like facing an army, but underneath all that, he's still just a very sad, broken man, until he rises again to live up to his name.
Hey Aiden! I love these and am certainly buying them all on itunes to support you if their there but do you have any idea when Scanlan and Grog will be coming? I know currently Scanlan's been temporarily replaced by Terry but I still think a theme of his would be incredible.
Ok, I've hear all their themes, of what exists so far. Percival's theme is by far my favorite. It's fucking awesome and feels slightly like it could be an opener for the steam punk adventure I'm working on. Can't wait to hear Tiberius' theme, if you plan on doing one. And of course eager to hear Grog's theme.
Oh my good god. This is fantastic, any dnd player would be ecstatic to have such a fitting theme for their character, I really hope this reaches Taliesin
Thanks so much! As a fellow DnD player and DM, I totally agree-I haven't yet written music for my own group, and I already feel jealous haha xD But i'm so glad you liked my piece! Stay tuned for more!
Thank you, thank you! I'd like to think Percy would enjoy a solo violin concert, or the opera (hence the Don Giovanni-like sounds)! I'm so glad you enjoyed it!
What I love about this piece: The evident inspiration that is from Robert Downey Jr. playing Sherlock Holmes in the Victorian-era England setting. This music fits Percy so well -- and thinking about it, I see so many of the traits of Holmes that Percy shares with him. Whether intentional or not, this composition is utterly delicious, and so pleasant on the ears. Well done, sir. Well done.
Percy is my favorite character and you've captured him so beautifully in this piece. im putting it on my Percy playlist. i'm currently writing my own story and this will help tremendously!
In Pikes Theme there was a comment saying they were waiting for her theme but I was waiting for this but did not know! Not just Percy's theme but the actual music! As I said before there will be people in the future trying to find the castle that was your insperation! The music seems to be inspired day Percy's statement "As long as Whitestone lives so do I!"
This beautifully describes Percy, his intelligence, his enigma, his pain, his power, his continuous search for vengeance, the villainous curtain dropped on him, his suave charm, his loneliness et cetera.
HOW HAS THIS NOT BEEN USED IN THE SHOW??? Beautifully crafted and constructed. Just listening to this, without thinking of the title of the song, I can imagine Whitestone and Percy
By the Raven Queen, it’s perfect! Intense and disjointed. Royal and old with flares of the over dramatic sense of self reproach. How did you meld a piece of music so perfectly with this character? It has every element that Percy emulates including the very slight but still present self importance, that shred of royal blood that he just can’t help but be proud of. Excellent.
Ahhhh nice to see Lord Percival Fredrickstein von Musel Klossowski de Rolo iii again :))))) (This song is my new favorite! so good I will have to show my fellow critter)
I honestly cannot say how beautiful this is to mean actual words !!! The way you expressed Percy's soul in this piece is amazing !!! Keep up the good work ! I can't wait for the next 👍🏼😄
AlexTBlue You are too kind! I'm so happy you liked it :') Yeah I ran into a lot of technical difficulties throughout, but each #CriticalRole episode I watched kept inspiring me to keep going!
Awwwwww man this is PERFECT for Percy. I totally imagined all his moments, as well as their adventure to take back Whitestone. Stellar, stellar, stuff!
I love how to music builds up to the first crescendo, ascending to it without a hint of the scores early portion, mirroring how percy acted during the briarwood arc, hungry for revenge. The score then comes back to to quieter and sophisticated tone, likely brought back to that state by his friends destroying Percivals "cursed" pistol. The score then comes to the final crescendo, mixing and alternating between the sophisticated and chaotic portions of the score, showing that Percival has much more control over his abilities, also giving the same feelings as "No mercy percy" suddenly dealing tones of damage with a natural 20. A beautiful piece that almost perfectly encapsulates the man titled Sophist of Native Ingenuity and known as Percival Fredrickstein von Musel Klossowski de Rolo III.
I can't not image Vex and Percy swirling around the abandoned ballroom in Whitestone Castel to this and it's painted such a vivid image I can't help but clap and say hats off to you, this is incredible
Neat, there are elements of it that remind me of the theme from the Sleepy Hollow tv series' theme... both Percy and Ichabod are quite the proper, eloquent types... :)
Theme slaps. Creates such a vivid portrait of him, his world, his style, his class. PLEASE bring this to spotify to bless ours with looping this epic piece
Oh god i love how you just nail the essence of the world of royalty through the sound of the instruments, and don't even get me started on the tune itself
Okay so I just love how up to 1:19 it’s just perci al the aristocratic gun slinger with more knowledge than is healthy for any one man then it kinda mellows down in to a playful almost cat like section where you can just see Percy throwing a witty comeback at Vax or doing something uncharacteristically fun but then it speeds up again and he feel less like an aristocrat with a gun he feels like the gunslinger we all know and love
Ive only recently gotten into Critical Role, just got to the Briarwood campaign stuff. But I think this fits Percy beautifully. Its so haunting and just so so beautifully composed. Well done.
Man this is AMAZING!! I totally get lost in it, imagening scenes from the Briarwoods arc. Thank you immenslly Aiden Chan! can't wait to hear the others.
I would love these songs people have made for the characters as the intro sequences when they make the anime, or the credits. A different character each episode with an amazing peice of art and an amazing bit of music.
Thank you all again for the wonderful response! You #Critters really give life back into my compositions-so glad I found y'all and #CriticalRole! Just uploaded Keyleth's theme (ua-cam.com/video/1Giw-jaCYpo/v-deo.html), so check it out-especially if you like #WonderWoman and #Skyrim music 😁 Cheers, and thanks so much again, y'all! ❤️️
This was a perfect fit for Percy. Hope this makes it their way. I've been a critter for awhile now and am continually amazed by the art pieces that the fans make. Thank you for sharing yours.
Thank you so much! I'm so glad you like it! Actually, not for Percy's theme, but for Vox Machina's, Liam DM'd me on Twitter and told me he loved it! (So freaking happy!)
I love these songs you made. This song captures Pecry very well. His calm collective nature until his plan comes to action/he burts into action with Bad News or his guns. Very well made, can't wait to hear your songs on Critical Role itself!

Just out of curiosity, but is this inspired/influenced by the music in the OST of Sherlock Holmes with Robert Downey Jr.? It's very similar in tone and energy, and I have to admit similarities with Percy and Downey Jr.s take on Sherlock.
An elegantly crafted composition. Despite not being familiar with the character or Critical Role, one can get a sense of the character's personality and emotions in this Neo-classical piece. Well done.
the high violin ( ? i’m not sure, i’m not well versed in strings ) pictures percy’s almost unhinged/gritty quality ? the delicate melodies in the high register give a sense of unbalanced/unsteadiness and UH it just slaps my goodness
Dude, this shit is brilliant. Unfortunate that I'm only just now hearing this but at least I am. Can't wait to go listen to the other themes you've made.
This piece is amazing! I've spent most of my Saturday morning at work and your music has kept me afloat all morning. Thank you! As I listen to this, I can't help but hear "life needs things to live". I can't help but picture a cackling gunman blasting away orcs in his long-johns (butt flap down, of course). This is just too good! Amazing work!
CR released a music themed update to the Vox Machina animated series and when they were talking about the character themes and the composer mentioned Percys theme is gong to be something classical inspired. I hope it will be it will as good as this, but this theme is marvellous.
You know how you expect a certain music to be, just from the title, and then you are a bit let down because its not exactly what you expected ? This didnt let me down. I feel this fits Percy perfectly, with the deep thoughts always coming back to him. Thank you
Ara Adkins Thank you so much! Yeah when I came around to composing it, I had recently watched #SherlockHolmes, and was also catching up on #PennyDreadful-it just clicked that I draw inspiration from those ☺️
TrueJunebug Haha mayyyybe a certain brother of a certain Baroness...or perhaps a nigh omniscient being who presides over the 20-sided fate of all Exandria 😜
I've listened to all of your CR music many times, and I love every each of them... But this... oh man, this is my favorit by far. The two most complex character in Vox Machnia are Scanlan and Percy, and this piece, as others before me pointed this out already, captures his complexity perfectly. I eagerly wait for the themes for the rest of Vox Machina :)
For weeks I've been trying to figure out what this song reminded me of, and now I finally realize! Parts of this song sound remarkably similar to the opening theme of Penny Dreadful!
oh my GOD THIS IS DELICIOUS. that's the only way I can describe the way this caresses my ears? that sounds dumb but wow this is just. as crafty and epic as percival is and I'm in a w e
This music would be so perfect as the "intro" segment to a movie or TV series, where it basically montages through the members before they met up, all the while credits for the film/series are appearing!
Haha that and #PennyDreadful (and Don Giovanni) were my inspiration! :) And yeah NOTHING is real (everything is permitted), 'cept the solo violin! So glad you liked it!
God damn, hit me with an AC reference too? Too many emotions for me to handle. It was dark, beautiful, sweet, suspenseful, elegant, horrifying, with a hint of sexy from the sly violin. It was fantastic. I would like to ask you where you got your instrument samples?
When the violins begin to pick up and then the sweeping horns reminds me of the early batman films! This soundtrack fits Percy PERFECTLY! Great job! Liked and subscribed!
Mia Frazier Thanks so much! Haha it was a bit of a journey composing this, what with a style change, and then technical difficulties-but I'm so glad you liked what I churned out haha ☺️

"I will never hurt her - I will never hurt anybody intentionally, especially not you - anymore than I already have.

Dude, I DID NOT see that before-thanks so much for the kind words!
I listen to this at least once a day...it makes mundane tasks seem so much cooler
Theme slaps. Creates such a vivid portrait of him, his world, his style, his class. PLEASE bring this to spotify to bless ours with looping this epic piece
Truly awe-inspiring
Oh god i love how you just nail the essence of the world of royalty through the sound of the instruments, and don't even get me started on the tune itself
Okay so I just love how up to 1:19 it’s just perci al the aristocratic gun slinger with more knowledge than is healthy for any one man then it kinda mellows down in to a playful almost cat like section where you can just see Percy throwing a witty comeback at Vax or doing something uncharacteristically fun but then it speeds up again and he feel less like an aristocrat with a gun he feels like the gunslinger we all know and love
I've listened to all of the CR pieces a handful of times, but I just keep coming back to this one... it is so Perfectly Percy! I absolutely adore it!
Michel Romo Thanks so much! Yeah I rewatched those episodes for inspiration! ☺️ Working on Vax's theme as we speak! 😎
Just found this by accident, but somehow I feel like this is gonna resurface big time. Great work!
I would love these songs people have made for the characters as the intro sequences when they make the anime, or the credits. A different character each episode with an amazing peice of art and an amazing bit of music.
I've watched this video so many times that no matter what I'm watching it's always in my suggested
This is pretty Professor Layton-esque. I love it.
not2shabby Thank you! So glad you love it x)
Thank you all again for the wonderful response! You #Critters really give life back into my compositions-so glad I found y'all and #CriticalRole!
Just uploaded Keyleth's theme (ua-cam.com/video/1Giw-jaCYpo/v-deo.html), so check it out-especially if you like #WonderWoman and #Skyrim music 😁
Cheers, and thanks so much again, y'all! ❤️️
This is incredible! Wow! It SOUNDS like him.
The start of this makes me think of the RDJ Sherlock Holmes series. Excellent piece!
His calm collective nature until his
plan comes to action/he burts into action with Bad News or his guns. Very well made, can't wait to hear your songs on Critical Role itself!
Thank you so much! I'm definitely trying my best to write music that #MatthewMercer can potentially use haha
I want season 3 I love percy
This sounds amazing! It captures both Percy's royal title and his chaotic nature.
This song legit gave me shivers
Thank y'all so much for the love, #Critters! ❤️ I seriously can't stop saying how amazing #CriticalRole has been for my music! 🏰⚔️🐉 But the ride is FAR from over-here's MATTHEW MERCER's theme: ua-cam.com/video/XmsuE1Dn0Mk/v-deo.html Enjoy!
Just out of curiosity, but is this inspired/influenced by the music in the OST of Sherlock Holmes with Robert Downey Jr.? It's very similar in tone and energy, and I have to admit similarities with Percy and Downey Jr.s take on Sherlock.
how can one support you.
I have a donations page set up: twitch.streamlabs.com/aidenchanmusic :D Thanks so much!
ah, my beautiful no mercy percy. gods i miss him
This is amazing and inspiring, already listened about 20 times
Meglm Thank you so much! ☺️
An elegantly crafted composition. Despite not being familiar with the character or Critical Role, one can get a sense of the character's personality and emotions in this Neo-classical piece. Well done.
I love this, and it fits Percy so well.
the high violin ( ? i’m not sure, i’m not well versed in strings ) pictures percy’s almost unhinged/gritty quality ? the delicate melodies in the high register give a sense of unbalanced/unsteadiness and UH it just slaps my
goodness
Dude, this shit is brilliant. Unfortunate that I'm only just now hearing this but at least I am. Can't wait to go listen to the other themes you've made.
This piece is amazing! I've spent most of my Saturday morning at work and your music has kept me afloat all morning. Thank you! As I listen to this, I can't help but hear "life needs things to live". I can't help but picture a cackling gunman blasting away orcs in his long-johns (butt flap down, of course). This is just too good! Amazing work!
Thank you so much for making this, its such a treat, love the feeling of it :D
CR released a music themed update to the Vox Machina animated series and when they were talking about the character themes and the composer mentioned Percys theme is gong to be something classical inspired. I hope it will be it will as good as this, but this theme is marvellous.
this gave me goose bumps i can almost see him listening to this
This solidified my love for that character. Thank you!
I got chills at 0:30 great job man.
This just feels like something that would play as Percy bursts into battle, shooting enemies and dropping one-liners like nobody's business
You know how you expect a certain music to be, just from the title, and then you are a bit let down because its not exactly what you expected ?
This didnt let me down.
I feel this fits Percy perfectly, with the deep thoughts always coming back to him.
Thank you
This is really incredible! It really manages to capture a sense of Percy really well.
Ara Adkins Thank you so much! Yeah when I came around to composing it, I had recently watched #SherlockHolmes, and was also catching up on #PennyDreadful-it just clicked that I draw inspiration from those ☺️
I can see the inspiration! Are you planning on doing themes for the other members of Vox Machina?
Ara Adkins Dude of course! 😆 And by everyone, I mean EVERYONE-so including Zahra, etc.! 😈
Aiden Chan so can we get some spoilers on who's next, perchance? 😅
TrueJunebug Haha mayyyybe a certain brother of a certain Baroness...or perhaps a nigh omniscient being who presides over the 20-sided fate of all Exandria 😜
I’ve watched this so many times. Always get goosebumps
Dammit, this makes me want to run Ravenloft again... superb work.
I'm so happy to stumble upon this it's perfect
For weeks I've been trying to figure out what this song reminded me of, and now I finally realize! Parts of this song sound remarkably similar to the opening theme of Penny Dreadful!
Goosebumps... so many goosebumps. I absolutely love this.
oh my GOD THIS IS DELICIOUS. that's the only way I can describe the way this caresses my ears? that sounds dumb but wow this is just. as crafty and epic as percival is and I'm in a w e
This music would be so perfect as the "intro" segment to a movie or TV series, where it basically montages through the members before they met up, all the while credits for the film/series are appearing!
Hjernespreng haha I'm just picturing ironically serious title music for a #CriticalRole sitcom 😂
Hjernespreng better yet, this would be a great intro to the Briarwood Arc of Critical Role
The intro sounds very Hans Zimmer-esque - Sherlock Holmesy. And are these MIDI samples??? The violin sounds amazingly realistic.
Haha that and #PennyDreadful (and Don Giovanni) were my inspiration! :)
And yeah NOTHING is real (everything is permitted), 'cept the solo violin!
And killer violin playing.
Ender's Games I'm so glad you liked it so much! ☺️ Also I used the native samples on Logic Pro 9/X
This is beautiful. Thank you for this amazing contribution to the world.
Thank you so much! I only have #CriticalRole, and my fellow #Critters to blame-for being so awesome!
I just love this theme so much...
When the violins begin to pick up and then the sweeping horns reminds me of the early batman films! This soundtrack fits Percy PERFECTLY! Great job! Liked and subscribed!
This was a fantastic mix of Gothic, Baroque, and Romantic style music. Well done!
Hollllllllllllllllly HECK this is amazing! You've captured his personality exquisitely! Kudos to you!
Mia Frazier Thanks so much! Haha it was a bit of a journey composing this, what with a style change, and then technical difficulties-but I'm so glad you liked what I churned out haha ☺️
Love the hapsichord! Day dreams of Symphony of the Night crawl into my ears...
omg this is amazing! I can't wait to hear more inspired by the show!
Gosh now I need to hear what Scanlon's theme would sound like!
