I've been growing for over a year now, and have mastered propogation from leaves and even hybridizing from seeds, blooming like crazy, but lighting still is a thing. This is the only video of many I've watched that has been able to show exactly what I needed to *see* to show me which of my light set ups is doing the correct thing and why! Thank you so much for this! Now I can figure out which of my lights to replace with the new set of recommended lights I purchased in the hopes of getting a plant or two into show shape for next year. :) Thank you for the good illustrations!
Yes absolutely, there are numerous things you can do to help them bloom, but there is one key thing I think gets overlooked and I will do a video on this very soon. Thank you for watching and commenting and happy African Violet growing. Tru
I water mine once a month, but now they are looking , the stem is long, and the leaves are curling. Dont look yellow, i put them in a bigger pot, thought they were in pot too long, but they are losing the lower leaves, and one has a long neck?? Have had them a year, in same place? Didnt bloom all winter or now either?
Oh no I am sorry you are having problems with your african violets. Sometimes they won't bloom if they are allowed to dry out too much. It sends a message to the plant if its allowed to dry out that it's life is in danger and it has to conserve energy and water. it will often not bloom if this is the case. The other main reason for not blooming is lack of light. African Violets need around 10 hours a day of good indirect light. Do you fertilise regularly, this could be another reason for lack of blooms. The long neck is only a problem if you don't like that look or if it gets too long it can break. I would try a different location in your house and maybe a touch of fertiliser and ensuring the soil stays slightly moist but not wet and fingers crossed you should get blooms. Thank you so much for supporting the channel it is greatly appreciated. Tru.
