This song is proof that
A) Willie Nelson I s one of the greatest songwriters ever
B) Patsy Cline had one of the most beautiful voices ever.
THE most beautiful voice ever.
All of the Above
My sisters favorite movie is sweet dreams
If you think about how Willie sings, his control of the delivery of the lyrics, she sings it just as he sings.
Along with Aretha, Billie , and Whitney as far as the greatest female singer and one of THE best singers ever, a huge loss when she went down
Patsy Cline probably had the best pipes for a female vocalist in the history of country music. Powerful!
just "music" period
Whitney was called the voice for a reason. I have to say though patsy is the chris stapelton of women country singers
Emmylou just edges her out
Patsy Cline is like the Aretha Franklin of country music. If only she had more time.
Her voice is singular and unmistakable. Her tone is so rich
Patsy has an emotional catch in her voice that makes her sound SO sad, almost like she's crying. Listening to her is an emotional experience.
You can definitely hear the pain in her voice
Its a bit of a yodle
I sill choke up when I listen to her. She sang from the place of her heartache, it showed.
She suffered serious physical abuse from her husband. I always figure she got that extra ache in her tone from her experience. Even the words to this song: I am crazy for loving you...she truly was sad in life, so it came through.
It's called a voice fry, when there's almost no air left for your vocal cords. She's definitely one of the greatest.
What gets me is that she never had a formal voice lesson in her life. It's all raw talent. Just incredible control and depth and emotion. She was so amazing.
Which is typical of many country music singers . Especially old country
@@karenpowell6063 this song IS a voice lesson :)
Flashback to my mom playing the cassette tape in our station wagon and singing it with her on a near daily basis. Brings back fond memories...
My dad with the 8 track. Though we passed by her tour bus once. Mom and dad were so excited. "Look, Jay! It's Patsy! Girls wave hi to Patsy." So we waved excitedly saying we met a superstar. I look back now and laugh. We didn't meet her, but someone waved to us. Mom and dad let us believe it for years. Grandma and Grandpa let us believe it too.
Same here, I remember listening to this in 1980s when my mom took me to school in her 1980 Buick Century Station wagon lol. Crazy, Sweet Dreams and Walking After Midnight. I don't think anybody has covered this song, but a lot of ppl sang this song on singing shows like American Idol, The Voice etc etc
My dad took us and ran.
After my mom found us shed secretly mail me patsy cassettes. It was so special to me because it was hope. I remember a judds tape too hahaha!
Foreal same here except it was cleaning the house
This was written by Willie Nelson.
Willie Nelson let her take that song cause he loved the way she song it.😍
@@kaylamarie2464 Much like Chris Stapleton, Willie Nelson made a living as a songwriter before he broke out on his own.
Willlie Nelson has his own version if this song too.
Lyrics are good either way
Side note she's singing slower because that's how slow the guitar was being played by the Red Headed Stranger when he wrote the song for himself to sing
Willie also did a great version but I think even he would say she sang it better
@@andrewmetz8162 In no way am I critiquing either one of them because they are both legends in my book but I think that unless Chris Christopherson was singing it just about anybody would've made it sound better than Willie. To be fair I wouldn't want to hear anybody cover "You were always on my mind" because it's such a classic by Willie Nelson.
You have to appreciate the realness of these old songs..no fancy digital 'make u sound better' equipment...all real music..amazing
Sweet Dreams by Patsy Cline is beautiful as well. Her voice in that one is phenomenal.
You guys described Patsy Cline perfectly. She had a hauntingly beautiful voice that hits you right in the "feels." She has another song that you should listen to called I Fall To Pieces. PLEASE!!! God Bless, and keep on keepin it real! 💞
Yes, yes, yes.... I Fall To Pieces beautiful song and to me is up there with Crazy 👍
Also she's got you if you want to see control
Back in babys arms always gets me. Many great Patsy tunes.
up vote this
I was just about to request that song too! My favorite Patsy song!
Willie Nelson “Always on My Mind”! Beautiful song!
No one can sing better than Patsy Cline! Legend!
Karen Carpenter.
Whitney Houston
karen carpenter is the patsy cline of pop romance and love songs as is patsy cline the karen carpenter of country music romance and love songs! they broke the mold with both of them... voices and THE WAY they used their voices never ever to be heard again..
@@tomschmitz5745 There are a few female singers that can sing, but it's not just about being able to sing. That's when things like vocal quality, control, diction, timing, and other nuances come into play. And those things are usually in born. Styles also come into play. Aretha was pure soul, Karen Carpenter was pure pop/crooner, Patsy was a soulful country. These women all had that "something extra" that other great singers don't even have, thats what sets them apart from the crowd. And they were able to very effectively cross over into other styles as well. I don't know about Aretha, she pretty much stuck to soul, and R&B.
@@Mr.56Goldtop well said, it wasn't just the SOUND of their voices, but how they used it.. diction, (personally i've never heard any singer male or female have better diction and enunciation then karen carpenter) , phrasing, control, the ability to tell the story of the song (which most singers nowadays are utterly clueless about as they sing every song no matter what the song is about the same way and then when they are quote "really getting into it" the only thing they know how to do is sing LOUDER! sadly, so many in the public now think and i think it's because of the horrible american idol and other shows to blame, that the LOUDER you sing, automatically the better singer you are which is so far from the truth!), nuance and so on as you made mention. karen carpenter WAS the ultimate female "crooner" (a term that i think most don't even know what it means or have heard of nowadays! sad)..
Idk if you’ve done Roy Orbison but Elvis called him the best singer, and he is! Crying, or It’s Over, are perfect songs!
I was thinking Roy Orbison myself.
Always loved Roy, and I grew up on hair bands.
Streets of Bakersfield by Buck Owens and Dwight Yoakam
Excellent choice.
Johnny Cash- A Boy Named Sue
Willie Nelson- Blue Eyes Crying In The Rain
Hank Williams Jr.- Family Tradition
John Denver- Thank God I'm A Country Boy (Live)
Dixie Chicks- Wide Open Spaces
The Statler Brothers- Flowers on the Wall
Travis Tritt- It's A Great Day to Be Alive
Great review by the way as always!
1. Go Cats!
2. If they do travis tritt again I hope they do I'm Gonna Be Somebody or Modern Day Bonnie &Clyde. Also I would for them to do Earle by the Dixie Chicks 😂
Great song! Hear this in every karokee bar
I know all of those songs. I love each and every one, great choices.
One of these is not like the others lol
Family Tradition definitely
Patsy was AMAZING
she, like most legends,
LEFT TOO SOON!!😔😔
I'm not a country music person but Patsy Cline is an exception. This is the definite Patsy Cline song. Absolutely wonderful! Her voice on full display. Fantastic review.
Wonderful ! Please do Seven Spanish Angels by Willie Nelson and Ray Charles.
Absolutely!! I have asked for this twice already.
Asked for it so many times!
I love that song
Chris Stapleton and Dwight Yoakam covered this and it was awesome
No one gonna talk about the fact that this was uploaded recently and this comment is 3weeks back.....is this a repost
Patsy almost didn't sing the song. She hated Willie Nelson's demo because he sang behind the beat (very jazz-like of him). She was convinced to do it and thank goodness she did.
Ceelle2 he still sings behind the beat.
proven fact: she laid the vocals down on this in ONE TAKE...she demonstrates the difference between a singer and a vocalist here...she crafts every syllable of this song with the painstaking deliberation of an artist painting a masterpiece
Its so cool to hear music that to me is familiar through your ears. Your guys are so engaging and pleasurable to watch, as well as earnest and insightful.
Hey guys! Fun fact-Patsy Cline & Loretta Lynn were best friends, when Patsy died Loretta did cover this & a few other songs in tribute to her.
Loretta Lynn, I love her spunk... She went through so much, from such a young age. And still kept herself together...
Coal Miner’s Daughter Sissy Spacek killed it!
@@marthacoombs4050 I think she won an academy award for her role?
I'm a big fan of Patsy Cline. I love her. Please listen to Sweet Dreams please. It was a amazing song. 😍 I know Im new to your UA-cam. But I hope you see these.
Yes, definitely Sweet Dreams. I'd also like to see them react to some Tammy Wynette.
Sweet Dreams just a whole different level
YOU ARE A BEAUTIFUL WOMEN 😇 😇
In my opinion, the best female vocalist ever!! Voice of an angel!!! R.I.P Patsy!!
She is the angel that floats above everything and everyone.
No one can ever touch her.
Gives you a whole new respect for the generation of artists who didn’t have all of the electronics to make them sound good. They had to do it naturally.
WILLIE NELSON - YOU WERE ALWAYS ON MY MIND.
SDMFAnthony The Elvis version is better. But those lyrics. Damn. So great.
Nawwwww. You gonna do Willie, you gotta do a song written by Willie. Willie's own version of Crazy would be a good choice. He didn't have the vocal instrument that Patsy did (who did?), but his phrasing is incredible.
Good job, guys, as always.
Great review!! Please check out Marty Robbins. El Paso, Mr. Shorty, or Big Iron. Thanks guys!!!!
My dad would always sing Marty Robbins on road trips when I was a kid and we would hit the spots where there was no radio signal. Good memories
El Paso please. Thank you.
El Paso!
El Paso!
if you do a reaction to "el paso" you might as well do "el paso city" because of the continuation of the story!
BLUE by Leann Rimes. A modern day Patsy Cline. The song was written for Patsy before her untimely death. Leann was 14 when she recorded it.
BJ Stockstill I wrote my comment and then scrolled through comments and read this. I said the same thing. Great minds think alike.
if I'm not mistaken they already reacted to blue.
That is completely false. Blue was not written for Patsy, and supposedly wasn't even inspired by her.
@@twrecks9119 Bill Mack's friend Roy Drusky suggested he pitch "Blue" to Patsy Cline in an effort to make the song a hit, so Mack gave a tape to Cline's husband Charlie Dick, but Cline died in a plane crash in 1963 before she could record it. The song became a multi-platinum hit for LeAnn Rimes, in 1996.
Donald Ulrich ~ True! Bill Mack DEFINITELY wrote “Blue.” Bill was a Dallas disc jockey at WBAP for many many years!
Willie Nelson RULES! I hope they figured out it's an early Willie tune by now;) I've heard Willie sing it with just an acoustic guitar, search it on UA-cam;)
You guys are by far the best review channel on UA-cam! You know how to break the songs down and analyze the different aspects of the whole! You appreciate good vocals, good lyrics and how well the music and musicianship works in the song! Keep up the good work! When you review Jethro Tull-Locomotive Breath, I'm going to purchase a cap from your store!
Do Patsy Cline I fall to pieces
And “She’s Got You”
Sweet Dreams bu Patsry
"Crazy" is STILL on Jukeboxes around the country. It is that good! Perfect bar room music.
Look for Nancy Wilson's "Guess Who I Saw Today, My Dear". I think you will enjoy it and she is the ultimate performer of that song.
Speaking of Willie Nelson, I would love some Willie reactions.
Blue Eyes Cryin' in the Rain!
They're lost in Vegas, but they could be... on the road again.
I’d love either Always on my mind for a slower song, or Mamas, don’t let your babies grow up to be cowboys. It’s a duet with Waylon Jennings.
@@0okamino I see what you did there...
Speaking of Willie Nelson could you react to some of his music? Maybe, Blue Eyes Crying in the Rain or Seven Spanish Angels with Ray Charles. I think you would enjoy it! Thank you.
Blue eyes crying in the rain
Last Thing I Needed First Thing This Morning is incredible as well.
It’s not Blue Eyes Crying in the Rain, but it’s perhaps one of the most “country” country songs he’s ever written.
I'd have to agree with Blue Eyes Cryin' in the Rain and throw in a Whiskey River for a change of pace.
Please play Seven Spanish Angels with Willie Nelson and Ray Charles it was my Daddy's favorite song
@@Capeluke Your dad was a wise man. It's a great song.
What made it so brilliant is that she sang it exactly as if she was sharing her thoughts. That's why she didn't shout it out or sing it more uptempo, etc. It was if she was sharing with the listener what was in her head as she sat down and just........reflected. Great video, gentlemen.
Stuart Alexander what a great way to express how she sang this song.
That's what I've always thought too.
I love Patsy. She has the most soulful, lovely and God-given talented voices ever. In my top ten now and forever! A life taken too soon. RIP Patsy
Favorite review channel hands down💯💯
There's others?
Yes, they actually review the songs as opposed to just listening to the track. I know some people get annoyed when they pause but if you want to hear the whole track, uninterrupted...go to the Pasty Cline UA-cam channel...just saying...
Gunnar Rounsaville agreed
@@slimblu1 I meant "There's other review channels?" A sarcastic answer to Gunnar Rounsaville
's response of "Favorite review channel hands down."
Patsy Cline was a true singer of the heart. Country music lost a true icon.
Don Williams,Johnny Mathis,Don ,Charley Pride,Jeannie C.Riley,Bobbie Gentry!!!!!
The greatest female country singer of all-time; no contest!!!
Go rest high on that mountain by Vince Gill
I chose that song to be played at my Dad's funeral back in September so this song will always hold a special place in my heart. I feel Vince is one of the greatest songwriters ever.
Diving into the Vince Gill songbook is a great idea. One More Last Chance, Liza Jane, Go Rest High on that Mountain, I Still Believe in You, etc, etc, etc.
Tear jerker!!!
Beautiful harmonies with Patty Loveless and Ricky Skaggs.
Great tune
One of the best songs Willie Nelson ever wrote
Devil went down to Georgia, Charlie Daniel's Band.
Hotel California, The Eagles.
Hotel California YESSSSS!!
Hi from Colorado. Glenn, these are 2 of my favorites also.
The eagles are notorious blockers of their videos...
@@lcozzarelli why, why do they do that? These videos only widen their fan base.
Music doesn't get better than this. Truly iconic
Absolutely love you guys and watching your reactions to songs and artists that are completely Greek to y'all!! You definitely need to do "The Devil Went Down to Georgia" by Charlie Daniels Band. Awesome lyrics and best fiddling you've ever heard!!! Trust me on this!!! MIND'S BLOWN!!
And after that, Uneasy Rider by Charlie Daniel's Band. It's the hippie-est condemnation of Southern bigotry by a country group ever, I think. It's hilarious.
Lisa Gilliam these guys could review tunes 24x7 and never get all of the tunes requested by their viewers.
You'll get to them at some point, but the Cline Trifecta is "Crazy", "I Fall to Pieces" and "Sweet Dreams".
Thank you for your benevolence. You are ambassadors of peace.
Patsy had the most beautiful voice that ever drew a breath. I'm her biggest fan even though I was only 2 when she died in a plane crash in 1963. Back in 2000 I met her sister.
We need a little Dwight Yoakam. The back of your hand, I sang Dixie, etc.
I love "Back of Your Hand". Great choice.
Connie Francis Where The Boys Are is another timeless classic from that day and age.
Love Connie
She's got you, is one of her best. She was amazing and one of the greatest
You guys are awesome. Love these reviews, love the songs!!
This song is proof that Willie Nelson is 700 years old.
😂😂😂
🤣
He's actually a time traveler.
Hes not a time traveler, hes just preserved in thc resin😂🤣
😂😂
Please do Copperhead Road by Steve Earle. I actually like walking after midnight better. I didn't realize how unpopular of opinion that was though! Maybe because that's I remember my Nana listening to? ❤
YES!!! Definitely need to review some Steve Earle! Good call!
Definitely Copperhead Road. It's on my playlist.
Copperhead Road is a must - for a lesser known gem, I'd recommend Taneytown or Rich Man's War.
Hell yeah! 🥃🆙 Earle is another all too often forgotten LEGEND!!🍻
Copperhead Road, as an added bonus, has damn interesting lyrics.
* wink win nod nod *
Willie Nelson wrote it at a faster tempo ... Patsy was worried that the background singers (The Jordanaires) would drown her out . Now the song BLUE was written for her but she didn’t get to record it . The jordanaires were also Elvis Presley’s background singers .
I've always thought of this one and "I Fall to Pieces" as a matched set of Patsy goodness.
I love you two! Your love for music shows. Please keep the videos coming.
I recommend "Fancy" by Reba McEntire
THIS!!!
how about some Roy Orbison. Crying - Live 1988
I hate to be the commenter who only suggests another review...so, Patsy is awesome, great video.
Also, The House of The Rising Sun by The Animals is very different and we would love to see your guys' reactions!
Hmmm.... I feel like you guys should react to "I Fall to Pieces" and I'm kind of surprised that that one wasn't done first.
Yes! More Patsy
That's a good one too!
I fall to pieces! Her voice in that song is incredible!
Ikr! My fave
She had a wonderful voice. I would like for the guys to react to "I Fall To Pieces" with Patsy and Jim Reeves together.
Would like to hear your thoughts on Crying by Roy Orbison
Agree. His voice is amazing on that song.
I haven't seen any of the reviewers listen to Roy Orbison. One of the greats.
Sturgill Simpson also does a nice version of Crying.
Oh, yes! Great choice!
Yes!! Definitely Roy Orbison. One of my favorites is Running Scared. The other: It's Over
You want to hear amazing vocals. Do MARTY ROBBINS
Cool Water.
God, I loved him!
YES!!!
El Paso is such a great song.
So cool to see this video on the channel. I’m actually related to Patsy. Never was too into her music but learned a lot and have a lot more respect seeing the great comments about my relative on here. Keep up the great work!
This is my mom’s favorite song. Love it.
Your mother has good taste
Willie Nelson sung it first. But hers is the most iconic. that voice tho
Actually he didn't.
He wrote it, but she recorded it first. It's the song that really launched his career as a songwriter.
PATSY SANG IT FIRST!!!!!!!!!!!
Kevin Mayfield I think his first really big hit was "Hello Walls" sung by Faron Young.
@@BlackSmokeDMax you're right. They came out the same year, but "Hello Walls" was in March. My mistake.
@@GasserGlass Willie Nelson wrote it and of course recorded it FIRST! I have a copy of his original demo and he sounds fantastic !
Lyle Lovette "She's No Lady, "She's My Wife" yall will laugh so hard
She's Got You by Patsy Cline💖
My favorite Patsy song.
That's my favorite Patsy C. song too. I'm not big into country music generally speaking. Only a handful of country artists that I enjoy.
•Dolly Pardon
•Kenny Rogers
•Patsy Cline
•Loretta Lynn
•Chris Stapleton
•Charlie Pride
•Wynonna Judd
•Eddie Rabbit (although some don't consider him country).
But Patsy just pulls you in with her vocals...
@@Deborahtunes
I'm not much into country music either but your list is dead on!!! Add Tammy Wynette & the Kendall's are we are definitely on the same page!!! Coat of Many Colors is one of my all time fav's🥰 Good music has no genre for me💕
@@atheistinalabama4206 ~ 👍🎶 I grew up hearing all kinds of music, because my mother and older siblings had many different tastes... My mother was definitely a rock & roll chick, preferring the harder edge stuff, such as
AC/DC... And southern rockers, Molly Hatchet, Blackfoot, etc... My oldest sister liked country music, as Tammy Wynett, Loretta Lynn, Elvis Presley, and The Osmonds... My other older sister liked funk and dance music, such as
The Commodores, Ohio Players, and Parliament, and whatnot. I learned to appreciate all of it. Being the biggest music lover in my family, I've added a few of my own favorites like Styx, Fleetwood Mac, Bad Company, plus a few others. I still have my vinyl, cassettes, and 8-tracks. My biggest enjoyment has always been coming home from a bad day at school or work, and listening to music to smooth out the edges. Blessings to you...🎶🦋🎼
Since you guys are hitting up some divas of yesterday you might think about (Mama) Cass Elliot's "Dream a Little Dream of Me." she was another bright candle that got snuffed out too early.
Thx so much for your content!
Oh, you're so right! Mama Cass was phenomenal, even better solo than when she was part of the Mamas and the Papas (except when she sings the lead in "Words of Love"--amazing!). "Dream a Little Dream" is probably one of my favorite of her songs, but I also find "Make Your Own Kind of Music" pretty great.
@@oregonchick76
It makes me sad she's being forgotten, but most of her work was in singing groups, and maybe lost some glitter when she became a TV celebrity. But Mama Cass could sing the phone book to me. :)
Turnpike Troubadours "Long Hot Summer Day" or "Before the devil knows where Dead"
Love watching your "honest and unbiased REACTIONS"! I have been watching for a while but decided to comment for the 1st time today. I love music and you guys have opened the door for many new artists in my musical repertoire. Thank you!. Going to suggest some "Red Dirt" bands: Reckless Kelly, Micky and The Motorcars, Jason Boland, The Departed, Stoney LaRue or The Randy Rogers Band
My mother's song through and through , she used to sing it over and over with my aunt Betty. And what more she could sing just like her. I miss my mum so much it's been 27 years since her death but this song takes me right back .thankyou
Blue Eyes Crying In the Rain- Willie Nelson
This song kills me. It makes the shaky cadence of Willie's voice actually make sense in a truly beautiful way.
My favorite.
This song is the first song I ever remember hearing and it sparked my love for all country/blues music
On just this review I subscribed to you both. This woman is one of my singing idols and I love to sing her songs. TY for picking this classic.
Song gives me chills! Thanks guys. Love the variety you review. Glad your doing your wiki education before. These legends deserve R E S P E C T just like the queen of soul taught us.
Beautiful song. Great Reaction. Thanks, guys.
Ya’ll need to check out Go Rest High On That Mountain by Vince Gill. He wrote it as a tribute for Keith Whitley after he passed but didn’t finish the song until the death of his brother. It’s a beautiful tribute to them. Also Believe by Brooks and Dunn.
I enjoy watching your reactions. Very impressed.
The legendary song by Willie Nelson by the most beautiful voice ever - Patsy Cline. A song so great that it has been covered by many - both male and female.
♥️♥️♥️ One of my favoritest songs of all time!!!! Thank you thank you thank you for doing this song! ♥️♥️♥️
Hey guys! Please do got rest High on that mountain by Vince Gill. You WILL NOT regret it!
Over the decades, there have been a plethora of singers touted as the next Patsy Cline. IT'S NEVER GONNA HAPPEN.
I'm so glad ya'll did this song!! It's one of my all time favorite songs to sing and one of my go-to's for karaoke! My parents sang this when I was a child and I always dedicated it to them when I would sing it in public.
I just love how diverse your videos are. Crazy was her hit. Leann Rymes made it popular again. Terrific song. ✌️😘
I don't remember Leann Rymes doing Crazy. She did Blue when she was 12, which reminds me of Crazy. She is extremely talented as well.
Leanness did Blue
Leanne
@@AG-mt3xs ....she did do Crazy
I want to echo the sentiments of a previous commenter on the blues recommendation. My favorite genre.
I'll only recommend Stevie Ray Vaughan for now since he's a beacon of a blues guitarist.
For some slow jams:

Tin Pan Alley
Riviera Paradise
For a more invigorating time:
Texas Flood
Tightrope
Pride and Joy

Love what you're doing guys
Fantastic reaction as always! When I first started subscribing to reaction channels, your channel was one of the first (if not the 1st) react channel I subscribed to. I did not know that "Crazy" was written by Willie Nelson. That man can write some lyrics. Y'all should react to some of his songs.
Another great reaction! Corrosion of Conformity - Albatross or Clean My Wounds for some new staylist material.
Yes you need to listen to Vince gill.go rest high on that mountain

Just found you guys tonight, heard your reaction to Walkin' After Midnight, and am SOOOOO glad you heard your listeners and did this song. She was truly one of the greats, and this is an example of the perfect pairing of voice with song. Love your vids, love that you loved this song!
She does this in 4/4 time, like a slow stroll. She's from my area, and there's folks around here that knew her and her family. She was a strong character by all accounts. She is a roots singer, love her. Did the first dance at my wedding to a recording of her singing Irving Berlin's "Always". Then the live band played Stevie Wonder and the Isley Brothers the rest of the night. Keep it up, guys, have fun exploring.
Absolute classic. Been listening to this since I was a kid. Not surprising that you’ve heard it. You guys gotta listen to Texas Flood by Stevie Ray Vaughn. Y’all been neglecting the blues my guys.
Linda Bell I know right? He was amazing and left us with such great music. Such a tragedy. Little Wing would be awesome too. Taking a Hendrix classic and making it his own.
They need to be sure and actually watch him playing the guitar!. That's part of the fun. Wow...Stevie could play!! I love his voice, too!
