  • Finally got my Vintage Air A/C system and a full set of new gauges installed. I have been sitting on some of these parts for 2+ years. This car is finally usable in the Texas Summer!

    You deserve solid sponsorship for the beautiful work that you do on bikes and on your Camaro. Biggest grin ever from you with the new AC! Instrumentation reminds me of Shelby and the engine sounds powerful. Wow!

    I lived in Dallas for seven years in the 1970s. I can’t believe we lived without car A/C in those days, and we often had temps over 105. I remember dash pads melting and seatbelts branding people’s thighs.

      When I was in high school I drove a 67 Camaro without ac. Not sure how I did it back then.

    Thanks for showing the install of the AC! Everything you to to that car makes it better and better. Also makes me want to show some more love to mine! Keep it up!

    Great video. Have my Vintage AC system half installed. Can't wait to knock down some of this Houston heat. Loved the pull at the end of the video!

    I would have just put in their hang down option. Would save so much work and disassembly. The early Mustangs used those types of a/c units as factory air, and no one complained that it didn't use dash vents. So much better to find a car that originally had factory air. Then all the hardware and ducts are there, even if it needs newer components due to leaks.

      I had that style A/C in a 67 Mustang before. It only kept my right knee cool. It's worth the extra effort for me to have a proper-looking setup.

    i love how around 5:45 you are talking about how many hours a shop may charge to do this, and you can save money doing it yourself, then the VERY next clip you say "this install is no joke"
    maybe that's why shops charge 40 hours? because as you said- this install is no joke.

    • @ClassicOctane
      @ClassicOctane  Рік тому

      I think shops are right in charging 40 hours for the job. That's what I would need to charge someone to do it for them.

    Seeing your video on this makes me think I really should go ahead and get the system installed in my '69 before I send it off to paint. Looking freaking rad, and can't wait to see what brake and suspension upgrades you have in mind!
    And as a guess, if you are going with a torque atm, the BMR was really easy to install. That's where I'm putting my bet. 😜

    Awesome!! Did you notice the black shadows coming on the image whenever you do a time lapse? Have you got any idea where it might be coming from? Good job mate, my A/C is not working on my old 2022 VW Passat might have a look into what's causing the problem, you motivate me ;)

    What is your seat belt set up? Didn’t notice a cross bar behind you are they just bolted into factory bolt locations?

    • @ClassicOctane
      @ClassicOctane  Рік тому

      They are from Schroth Racing www.schrothracing.com/item/rallye-4-asm/tuning-Harnesses. They are designed to bolt to the rear seat belt mounts and still provide anti-submarining without the use of a roll bar.

    How has the terminator system been?

    • @ClassicOctane
      @ClassicOctane  Рік тому

      Worth every penny. I still need to put more miles on it with the new A/C so it can learn to control idle better. It's getting into a new area of the tuning map with more load than it's used to so it's stalled a few times but is getting better with every mile.
