Hello brother what a great job you are doing on the A/C when I surprise the wife with her car I know she will want A/C and now I have these great videos you have done and I want to thank you for it you are the best ... now what do I have to do to make it to that Firebird show 🤔
Great video! is this pretty much the same for 69 or is there a lot of difference? I don’t remember my heater control head having that cover over the backside or did that come with a vintage AC kit?
The 69 control modification is different, and unfortunately doesn’t match what the controls operate. Still the same Basic mode as For reconfiguring the electrical sensors to the levers though
Nice instructional tour of the routing of the ductwork. One question, maybe some of your viewers have done this on a non A/C equipped first gen: How do the side vents compare to factory A/C models? Are they secured the same way, same size? My dash is out, sandblasted and primed, but if it was easier to have a predrilled dash and order aftermarket factory style vents, would that be preferred? Thanks for the great videos, and the Vintage Air series.
The side vents are the same, ac vs non ac for 1968 and 1969. No dash mods required to go either way. I think the only thing on 1968 is the vent on off knob for non ac cars that hole needs filled in for ac cars.
Great job , great camera angles for sure because it’s really short on real estate in there. Just one question, would you recommend putting the dash pad on first to access the 4 dash pad bolts?
You bring up a great point. If you have a dash pad ready to install absolutely get that in there before I see that being much easier to do beforehand. Thanks!
We are just finished one on a 67 camaro and I was wondering if it would make a huge difference in the operation of the unit if they only had one duct running the center vent? It definitely make a difference in the clutter behind the dash
Great Info. That system looks really nice and fairly user friendly to use. Cant wait to see you get it working and see how well it works. Keep up the great work.
Should be Heading your way soon. Need to get out in the garage and do it. Lol. Started New job this week, learning the ropes is a lot. Been 12 years since I was the new guy.
Great how to on the duct routings, very good to know. The whole vintage air segment was excellent. Hoping to go to Firebird Fest, but our bird will have to stay home this time. 👍
Interesting to see the difference between 68-69. I have been doing battle with my 69 dash bezel and duct work for a while. You def have to get very flexible piping, the drivers side vent is really squashed in there and harder hose like shop vac hose will not work.
I did my 1969 convertible and still having some issues with the drivers side vent too. The duct just doesn’t want to stay in place, just to tight of an area.
great content Jon. I'm starting to get more confident with installing one of these bad boys. May use it on my next 69 build. Thanks for sharing these vids.....great info
Does the AC kit allow the manual vents on the kick panels to still function? My favorite part of your AC installation is how it looks factory installed. Thanks for the video!
Taking the dash apart definitely makes it easier to route the plumbing. If also upgrading to digital dash it needs to come Out anyway. Good luck on your mods and build.
Thanks, again. Your vids help. Even tho my 68 Camaro is a lil different…
Well they have many similarities and it applies for the most part

Thanks friend, FirebirdFest is in May.
Firebird Fest..

Thanks!!! Awesome video. I have a 1968 Camaro and this really gave me a better idea of how this system goes together.
Right on. It should be about the same.

your almost at 4k!!!!!
I see! How cool is that. My goal was to just hit 1,000 so really nice to see many more then that.

I have debated the same thing vintage are makes a single inlet adapter to run the factory center vent.
Very very nice job on the Vintage Air system sir 👍🏽
Thanks. The AC is a cool touch.
Don't forget to show us the side vents getting hooked up. I recommended someone to your channel that is in need of that knowledge
Will do as soon as i get them painted I will get that up.

Very good explanations in all your videos Thanks for all you do
So nice of you, very welcome of course.
if you don't want to cut that lever
nub off couldn't you tack on a little bridge over it so it doesn't rub the duct?
Yes I believe that is a great possibility, it could even been held down with the screws that held the original blower motor switch.
you should file the metal edges where you cut. It is good practice.
Not a bad idea and a good recommendation.
Good video, thanks ,
Glad you enjoyed it

Thanks!
Very cool 😎
Thank you!

This will be my second FirebirdFest, it was very rainy but had one of the best times ever and hoping the same this time

Go for it. I really enjoy driving with the ac on now as I have gotten a bit older. Years ago not so much. But totally worth the effort.

Thanks for the video!
Yes how I do the install they are 100% functional and not modified. I like those vents and wanted to retain them is why I did it this way.
Great series. I want to add one of these and some Dakota digital gauges to my 67 Pontiac Tempest. A dashboard teardown looks like the way to go!

A hair away from 4k subs! Woo! Great job, Jon!
I know soooooooo close. Who would have thought. It’s been a challenging and fun journey for sure.
A convoluted situation, very helpful for those that are installing a vintage air system.
The directions are decent but a few custom touches really set it apart.
😎👍
Got the duct work all dialed in and that was easier then I thought it was going to be.
@@VinylVillageGarage it looked tighter and tighter with each hose you added 😵💫
It’s a snug fit for sure and if you did it like the directions said I think it might have been worse.
