How FRESH makes us fall for a Serial Killer

Films being obsessed with showing violence against women and my growing aversion to it is one of the reasons why I loved Promising Young Women so much. *Spoiler alert and trigger warning* the film is about a woman dealing with her best friend's suicide after being raped and even when it's revealed that there is video of the incident happening, we don't see it. The main character, our tragic heroine, is eventually killed dressed as a stripper and it's not sexy at all. I remember noticing how the feet of her white tights were brown from walking in them and being happy that they clearly made the decision to make it unsexy.

YESSS i loved fresh so much! i didn't discover it until last year so i'm not sure if there was any hype upon its initial release, but every time i mention it to someone, they've never heard of it and it kills me cause i'm dying to discuss it lol. the lack of unecessarily graphic scenes of the women actually being hurt was such a good decision by the filmmakers, wasn't surprised at all to find out they were women.

how good right!! I was also kind of heartbroken that this film didn’t have a bigger impact because I was obsessed with it when it released and no one was really talking about it! This is one of my favourite video discussions on my channel so it makes me rlly happy that there are people out there excited by it too hahah

It was kinda sorta popular on Tumblr which is how I heard of it. The Sebastian Stan and Hannibal fans were pretty into it and were posting aesthetic gif collages. It wasn’t crazy popular but it had its fans!

Hello! Omg funnily enough I saw this with my abusive ex and he found it boring to a core.... speaks volumes.
Me personally I was not ever thinking it was erotic, if it may have been erotic it only contributed to how nauseating this film was for me, I am a BIG gore fan, I am as vulgarly speaking as I can "desensitized" to the genre. Even still what I did not found erotic I found nauseating and that's what shakes me to my core about this movie. Without being graphic or borderline sn*uff it made me so disgusted, nauseous and anxious
And I think the trustworthiness and seemingly harmless character of Steve that you mention makes it so more much nauseating
I saw the film as soon as it came out and now in a significantly better place
I still find it repulsive and I feel my stomach turning
So yeah basically the less goreish movie in the cannibalism genre made me physically ill, so cool
