I met the owner of this R32 at Carzilla back in the dark winter of 2020. Here we are in June, and I was given the opportunity to give this hot hatch an extensive interior/exterior detail. The video features the work I performed on the exterior including a two stage corrective polish using Griot's Garage Correcting and Perfecting Creams. In the video, you only seeing me apply the Perfecting Cream. I find the correction phase a little too intense to worry about filming. I used a combination of microfibre pads and soft foam. This project took me two full days including the filming, and the results were highly satisfying. The owner was pretty impressed and I hope to have him back next year. There’s nothing like sitting down to a cup of coffee in the morning and watching Rick do his magic.
Your story is very familiar as I had the same situation. A few weeks back, I was doing my yearly ceramic coating on my wife’s weekend drive and had the garage door open, and the UPS driver comes down the driveway and gets out of the truck to deliver some detailing supplies. He asked me what I was doing and explained yearly ceramic coating maintenance to protect the vehicle from the elements. We continue talking, and he’s looking at the banners hanging up, and he asked me if I do other people’s cars, yes, and explained that I was booked through August, and I am only detailing on the weekends, including Friday. Well, he just bought a 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee, and he is dropping it off next weekend for complete interior, exterior detail, including ceramic coat, which he asked for Apex coating after I asked him to watch a few videos of different detailers coating cars.
It's funny how things work out. I enjoy the fact that I seem to attract people that truly love and care for their vehicles. I enjoy the odd "Disaster Detail" project now and again, but my bread and butter is helping car lover's put the finishing touches on their cherished rides!

These cars are packed with character! For some reason I find the R32 logo one of the coolest logos out there, I recently saw one drive by and the logo immediately caught my eye. That foam!!!! Once again RAD Productions at its finest. I just put out a couple video using TOPPER as well. Can't beat the gloss it leaves behind and very easy to work with. Thanks as always for the great video.
When a guy says he wants to see some gloss on his car, I think Topper is a great choice. It is obviously no replacement for a traditional ceramic liquid coating, but not everyone wants the hassle of that. This is an easy "go to" for those that just want to have a shiny ride.

I recently got diagnosed with what my wife calls a “serious problem”. I’m a glossaholic. So now every week I have to hang out with my peers for intervention. I don't know if you are keen on waxes but Gyeon Wax seems to be absolutely stunning in terms of gloss, water beading and sheeting.
And easy to apply and buff off...

Thanks Greg. I did use Gyeon Wax to finish off the blue AMG I did in the early Spring. It was good, but I always struggle with removing wax residue from tight panel gaps.

I am sure those are aftermarket parts. The carbon fibre grille had some PPF on it that was very weird. Didn't seem to want to be clean. Very clingy and it would hold on to any soap which was a bit of a pain. I hate cleaning PPF.
I've run out of words to describe my satisfaction for your videos so I'll go with fantastic today. Loved the rinsing stage footage. The last track by The Ambientalist is one of my faves- recognized it right away. I'd like to know your thoughts on the Griots Creams.

Those pillars threw me for a bit of a loop. I'm used to just going at whatever speed with whatever pad/compound polish and they turn out great, but these were a real pain. I don't think the high temperature and humidity level in the garage was helping. To answer your questions, I'm usually hovering around the "3" mark.
It's great idea to clean the area where Glass sits on doors when window is closed all the way. I just detail spray. U be surprised amount of dirt collect over the year.

You are one dedicated VAG driver! I wouldn't sweat your ceramic coating choice too much. I have used a dozen different brands and they are all pretty good. The real trick is in the prep. If I had to choose my current favourites, it is a toss up between Fireball Devil's Blood or NV EVO. Good luck!
Know the seasonal allergies all too well myself. Think I need prescription allergy meds. Brutal. Otherwise great vid and nice to see these R32s being cared for.
I've been keeping them in check with a little white pill each day, but they do flare up at times. They used to be really bad when I lived overseas. They have calmed down a lot since I have been back in Canada.

Those Boss creams are amazing. I used the MF pad with the Correcting cream and the softer foam pads with the Perfecting and it was so easy I thought I had done it wrong!
Nice work again. One question: How to you use LSP or is it client who choose it?
It really depends on the project. Some guys know EXACTLY what they want, and others leave it completely up to me. In this case, the owner allowed me to make the call and he really was after a deep gloss, so the Xtreme Solutions LSP made the most sense. He also wanted something affordable and practical he could buy and apply when he washes his car. Just made the most sense.

That is correct. Given the amount and type of use this car sees, and the owners desire to spoil his car, we thought this made the most sense.
Hi Rick from Melbourne Australia. Great video you knocked it out of the park with your attention to detail. I have a mk5 Golf with a dirty headliner. What method would you recommend to clean it. Mainly greasy finger marks and a couple of water stains from previous owners lack of maintenance on sunroof drains. I don't want the headliner to sag after I've cleaned it.
Great to connect with you from Down Under! I don't have a tonne of experience with headliners. I would start with an interior cleaner spray and work it into the stains lightly with a medium bristle brush and then use a damp cloth to pull out the cleaner/dirt. Apart from that, you'd need to grab a Tornador pneumatic gun like I have (but have used only once in 10 years!).

Excellent video Rick! Just a quick question regarding your walls and floor. On the bottom of my drywall, there is a small gap between the concrete, I'd say about 1 cm width. Should I fill that with a sealant so water doesn't get trapped if I'm washing in the garage? From the floor to the drywall has about 5 cm of concrete vertical lip.
Yeah, you're going to need to do whatever you can so water doesn't wick its way up your drywall. It's hard to say without seeing a pic. Send me a photo to radgarageyyc@gmail.com some time and we can chat.

How do you clean and keep that CarPro mitt clean Rick? I just got one of those but haven't used it yet and was wondering the best way to clean it and keep it in good condition? I never plan on using it on anything but fairly clean paint. I keep my car pretty clean at all times and have separate tools/bucket for the wheels.
It’s easy to maintain. I just rinse it thoroughly, fluff it up and hang it to dry. Easy peasy.

No idea. I’ll have to check in with the Wookie owner in a month or so. He’s going to use it after every wash which is what I suggested he do.

I may have mentioned it in a video, but I kind of use my Instagram to keep viewers up to date on new developments. I received a huge amount of Gyeon products back in the early-Spring and have been loving each and every one of them!
Can you use that solution finish(topper) to glass? Or in just the paint?
I bet there's people out there that use these spray sealants on glass, but I am a glass purist. I just clean the glass and leave it alone. I have had too many frustrations with "glass coatings" that simply don't perform, make things worse, or just wear away quickly.
