Crazy for words to see that this vehicle was transported from my home country to Canada! I have never seen this Golf on public roads in the past 30 years. It turns out to be a collector's item.
Great result!
Yes, it is a rare car I was not aware of until very recently. It turned out fantastic!
WOW. You made that car look better than the day it rolled off the showroom floor! VERY NICE JOB RICK. The owner can be proud to have that car as part of his collection.
It would be the gem in any collection. You can find his Instagram in the description. He is a curator of a cool little collection of quirky cars.
@@RADGarage That's cool he has a passion for those type of vehicles. Not everybody can do the "supercars" per se in their collections, but these type cars are "supercars" in their own right and to the right person, they are even more special than a Bugatti! Love it.
I agree completely, Joe. There seems to be a massive upswing in the interest in these rare gems that have, for too long, been overlooked and under appreciated. I enjoy seeing and interacting with cars that came about under unique circumstances.
This is so, SO, good with morning coffee... or anytime!
Thanks Rick! 😎
Loving the colour the paint looks fantastic excellent job. NV care care products good choice I’m seeing nothing but positive feedback from the detail community. 👍🏻👍🏻🇨🇦
Yeah, I don't have a bad things to say about any aspect of the NV line. High quality stuff for sure!
That Rallye is such a clean little setup. Literally.
Yup, it is hard to believe this car is as old as it is. It has been resprayed at least once in its life, but the overall condition is very nice. Living most of its life in Spain surely helped!
And that is why the Nano is worth every penny. Right tool right job. 👍🏻🌟
I have never used the iBrid more on a project than this one. I actually started running out of pads. And, I have a LOT of little pads.
I used like summer break from school but now I love it. Great video Rick. This channel features the coolest cars
It is nice that I am able to work on and feature such cool and unique cars. Nothing wrong with detailing a minivan, but this is way more engaging for me.
Hi Rick. Awesome job. The depth of gloss and clarity is amazingly RAD.
Thanks. A lot of time and energy went into this one but the results paid off.
What an awesome production Rick!! The reverse action never gets old. That's such a cool car. Awd supercharged.. Recaro seats.. man, that thing was ahead of its time. Really turned out just astonishing my friend. The gloss had gloss!!!!
Yes, it had a real majesty about it. I felt like I was in the presence of Porsche royalty. I enjoyed every aspect of this project. Thanks for watching. I enjoy the reverse too.
Insane depth of gloss and clarity Rick. It’s a joy watching your posts. Bet the owner was blown away with the results 👍
The owner was very pleased with the results. Thanks for the compliment on the gloss and clarity. It really is a nice paint job.
Rad video for sure with some reverse soap and reverse wheel cleaner ha ha dude that was fun to see !
The car is stunning and in amazing condition but what a gloss and slickness you brought up RIck !
That is awesome 👍👍👍!
Sipped my coffee as slow as possible to enjoy the whole video 😂
Let's see if future content will show up a nice RAD Vyper chair with its Coke holders 😂 !
I remember when I did my military service in the Swedish Air Force we had a "normal" Golf Mk2 Synchro. It had the 1.8 lite natural aspirated engine but 4wd wich was quite unique for the time. Someone did break the 4wd system once and it had to be repaired.
Thanks for another fantastic video, Rick. You know I love your style.
Take care.
Thanks for taking the time to watch. It is a neat car with an interesting history. It is amazing how many of my friends and viewers have strong connection to the VW Golf.
@@RADGarage my 2nd car was a 78 VW Rabbit. The Golf came from the Rabbit
I was always jealous of people with Rabbits and Golfs. I had crappy Chrysler cars. That was all I could afford back then.
Love the wardrobe in this video top notch! Oh and the car is pretty cool as well.
The shirt was the most amazing part of the entire project, if I'm being honest! 😂
Love your work Rick.I hope your enjoying summer break. We are in week 4 of our third term of 4 as we are starting to come out of winter. Winter her means today was unseasonably warm at 23 degrees C so I was able to wash and apply a healthy topper of Reload to my wife’s CX-3 and also do a weekly exterior foam wash of my CX-5. I’m still jealous of your setup but I’m slowly emulating yours. I put 4 mat clamps up last week! Once more, fantastic production. Lloyd
Thanks for the comment. Nice to hear you are giving your team of Mazda's the attention they deserve. I will be doing a special project with a good friend on a CX-3 in the next little while. Keep your eye out for it!
Beautiful car and a beautiful job Rick! I would love to bump into this guy and talk over our cars.
I have a feeling you will meet him at some point. I am really enjoying connecting guys with similar tastes in cars. Maybe this Fall, I will have an open house!
ooh my god, a neighbor from my childhood in the 90s I premiered one in red that neighbor was a being from another world with that car, great Rick videos.
Again awesome job, always so uncomplicated with you... very special little car
There is beauty in the simplicity of the process that I think sometimes gets missed. Thanks for recognizing that. 🤘
Rick, nothing beats a fresh cup of coffee and watching a new RAD Production. Your interviews are great, to hear and see the excitement in the owns voice talking about their car and looking forward to your next one.
Thanks for the supportive feedback as always, William. I do enjoy hearing the owner's explain their passion for their cars. It is what I have always enjoyed most about cars, the stories behind them.
Well done, as always Rick!
Thanks. I'm looking forward to integrating more of your product line into my projects! 🤘
is a detail RAD can only be a project 💯👌
Thanks Henrique. You've been such a loyal and vocal supporter for so long. I want you to email me your address to radgarageyyc@gmail because I want to send you something to thank you.
Impeccable presentation, it was worth waiting for another exceptional video.
Good job Rick!!
Glad you think so, Marius. This one was a marathon but the results were well worth it.
@@RADGarage yes indeed Rick, I told you from many times...I love your work and dedication.
That Blue Rupes Wool Pad is my “absolute go-to” to get deep scratches & swirls out. Fantastic choice, Rick!! 🤘🏼
Another great video Rick. Thanks so much for sharing. That car brings back memories from early 1990s. My wife got a Golf GTI Mk2 as a company car. We used to zoom all over London it it and out to the countryside on the weekends. Great days. 🤟🏻
I’m so happy that people have been sharing their own connections to this car and the Golf in general. It is truly globally admired platform and it was a pleasure to work on this significant piece of the Golf story.
@@RADGarage Apparently those rear parcel shelves are like gold dust, as we used to cut them
Up and add huge speakers. Used to listen to Jazz Funk bands like Level 42. But, I cringe when I think how I used to wash the car. Hehe.
Nothing was more important to me in the 90's than the music that was blaring out of my car! I can certainly relate and I WISH I had the European flare for music, but I was into Glam Metal! 🤘
Working your way through your some amazing cars these holidays!
It's insane. I am turning away some epic cars because I just don't want to detail all summer break!
This is one of my favorite cars ever. Great job on this one, Rick
I can see why this car has such a massive appeal within the automotive world. Very unique in many respects.
Probably one of my favorite video till now! The job is insane man, look at the gloss😍. Nice job Rick! I want an Ibrid so bad hahha
The iBrid got quite a work out on this one with all the little ledges and shallow profiles. I am interested if you like this video more than the one I just uploaded today (GT3). I won't taint your opinion but one of them got a bit more artistic focus.
@@RADGarage Ouff, Hard to tell… If i have to pick one , i’ll go with the golf one . Only for the Legacy of the car , thats insane , an old school VW 4WD… but in the other way i’m a fan of Porsche car so.. I like the porsche edit too…the backing track is sick! One thing i like is to see what you’re doing when the zoom is « off » , i like that perspective! But its only me , cant talk for anybody haha Keep it up Rick , you’re doing good job💪
Unfortunately, I am really constrained by space in my garage so the vast majority of my footage is close up. Once in a while I mix in the wider angles, but there's only 2 or 3 places I can actually do that without tripping over myself! I need a bigger garage and then I would have way more artistic freedom with the camera.
Yet another great vid! not heard of the Rally before even here in the ole UK
I admit the same, Gerry. I was not a close follower of European cars in the 80's and 90's since our Canadian market was saturated with V8 RWD luxury cars! Well, at least my automotive orbit was! 🤷♂️
Absolutely stunning work. It was beautiful before, but you've certainly elevated it. Really enjoying the amount of projects you've been taking on and the variety of cars. Thanks Rick!
I have been fortunate to have made inroads with people with a variety of interesting cars. It really is fun for me when I am working on something I truly admire. Nothing against the Honda Odyssey's of the world, but I derive a lot of pleasure by having these special cars in my garage.
The car looks great Rick. I know I have this before, but your passion certainly shows, especially on cars like this. Really enjoyed it. 👍🏻
I will admit I was really into this one. I'm into all of the projects I showcased, but having an opportunity to work on a newly imported Euro spec VW was a real thrill.
Absolutely amazing car and results Rick. The 90s were such a defining time for cars. I would love to go back and make better decisions with my vehicles from then.
I feel you. The 90’s will become even more significant as we move forward into the soulless future of electric appliances.
Wow Rick, what a beautiful car!
Memories from my younger years...
I drove a Corrado G60 in the nineties with the same color.
This is so great to see!
Thanks from Holland!👍
Right on! I'm glad this project brought back some Corrado memories for you! VW had made some killer cars over the years.
What a classic getting the RAD treatment 👍 brilliant job Rick
I'm fortunate to have these types of opportunities to interact with such cool cars! Thanks for stopping by. 🤘
I got these sebring wheels on my passat variant. Nice Golf and as always a peace of art video! 💪🏽
Thanks Marco. I am surprised by the number of viewers who have some sort of connection to this car. Those are very unique design wheels and just scream VW!
Hi Rick. Thoroughly enjoyed your latest video. Keep up the great work on the channel! Always learn something from your work.
Kind Regards, Jason Munro.
Thanks for your kind words and encouragement, Jason. It is greatly appreciated. 🙏
10pm sydney - good upload time 🙌🏻
@@RADGarage what’s the longevity of the coating you used on the rallye golf?
This car won't see much use so that will bode well for the coating's longevity. I don't typically see more than a year of longevity with coatings in Calgary. The weather is just so nasty for so much of the year. Add in the dust, snow, road grime, salt, and gravel on the roads. I cringe when installers claim years of protection. I just haven't seen that. Especially, since most owners are not going to have the wherewithal to properly clean and care for their coatings throughout the winter. (Let alone the other three seasons).
@@RADGarage would u then say a full PPF is better in those weather conditions rather than a ceramic coating?
Well, a full PPF wrap offers the ultimate protection, but then you start to worry about protecting your wrap! It's a never-ending cycle! I do know a few people who have completely wrapped their cars with PPF and then added a ceramic coating to the film. That's the way I will probably go on my next car. Then, when a rock does damage a portion of your film, you are faced with the decision on whether to live with it, or have that section replaced. There's no cheap/easy way to do it unfortunately.
👍
Another home run, Rick! I enjoyed all the the polishing shots in this one. So I've been detailing cars for 30 years strictly as a hobby, doing my families cars. How would you suggest getting the chance to polish and ceramic coat beautiful cars like you do? I feel people won't understand the value of all the hard work and cost to ceramic coat. I simply love doing it and would relish in the chance to detail other nice cars. Thank you so much for making these wonderful videos.
Eric, I'm not sure how to answer your question since I am not sure how I have been able to connect with such cool and unique cars. I guess the key is social media. The channel has afforded me countless opportunities to touch base with a variety of owners with a variety of vehicles. When people see the videos, they see the care and attention I give and they are sold! So, what's a few ways you can showcase your passion for detailing with the community where you are? Truthfully, the paint correction and ceramic coating process can be a hard sell to people who don't have a real deep passion (obsession) for their cars here. I have people say, "Whatever you think, Rick" but with the challenges a lot of people face with just maintaining a clean car, I don't always suggest going the ceramic route. Maintaining a ceramic coating here can be more of a challenge than just maintaining a clean car.
It looks better than brand new 🔥👌🏻
I just wish I had the ability and/or skill to restore the window trim. There were also a few deeper scratches I had to ignore. Other than that, it came out as perfect as I could get it.
What an amazing transformation! That looked like a lot of work with the nano polisher, how long did the actual paint correction take, if you don't mind me asking? How easy was the NV ceramic coating to apply? Another great video, Rick, thanks for sharing! Also love the conversation at the end, it's interesting to find out about the history of these cars.
Thanks Clint. This one came out great. Because this is for a really good friend, I went way overboard and spent quite a few hours doing what I could to rectify as much as I could. I would say I invested ten hours on the correction/refinement stage and the majority of that was with the iBrid. The NV EVO is super easy and satisfying to apply. I might go so far as to say it was the most pleasurable application of a ceramic coating to date. It was cool for Ken to share his experience with the Rallye edition Golf. I learn a lot through my car buddies. Take care.
I used the RADGARAGE discount code and ordered some of that detail firm shampoo. Its awesome stuff
Glad to hear it. It is quite obvious from its performance that it is highly formulated. The team there suggests I give it a go in the foam cannon. I will be trying that shortly!
@@RADGarage Very impressed with your Spanish, Rick. I have lived in the UK 35 years now, but A Coruna is my home town. Anyway, keep up the great content!!!
I have to give all credit to "Google Translate". I can make out a bit of Spanish if I can read it a few times, but I am not versed at all.
This one really stands out what an amazing transformation the clarity and depth is breathtaking! How was it working with NV EVO Rick? Tbh it's going to be my first ceramic coating applied to my daily really excited about it 😲👏👌
EVO is an absolute delight to work with. No issues at all. One coat and you're done and the results are unbelievable. You will LOVE it.
the Mk2 Golf was, for me, the best looking Golf, and such an 80s icon now, in rallye form very rare now i would say, even in Europe..... I'd buy a Mk2 GTi 16V in an instant
Yes, it is a very remarkable design. It was a true pleasure to polish it up for the owner.
@@RADGarage you're pleasure showed through Rick.... and you go the extra mile when it matters to you
👍🤟🤙
Great job Rick. Is it me, or do grey colour cars just pop when detailed?
Grey does POP for sure! I am often amazed at how the Daytona Grey Pearl on my car glistens in the light. This one was no different. It came to me in 6/10 and I would say I got it to a solid 9.
What an amazing and rare car but the G ladder is going to fail, that’s an inevitability, there is a reason the Corrados have such a bad reputation, same with the all wheel drive, it was bad engineering and finding original parts an repairing it’s going to be a headache but you did an amazing job detailing that beauty as usual!!
All that being said, this car is now in the care of a man who knows how to fix anything with a VW badge. Ken is the operator of one of Calgary’s most respected tune shops.
In Bosnia there is bunch of these GOLF 2
@@RADGarage gtd gti g60 and rallye but people dont have money to restore them
