I was contacted by a viewer very eager to have me detail his United Grey Golf R32. The owner drove it to Calgary from BC, left it with me for three days, then had it shipped back to Ontario. This car was recently coated so I performed a very little "refresh" polish on it and applied a nice filler coat of EXO to rejuvenate the coating. This Golf R32 has lived an active life and shows some battle scars, but it cleaned up real nice. It left my place on a tractor trailer looking sharp. The video is comprehensive but does not show every step I took, but it should serve as a good example that ALL cars deserve pampering time to time, not just the perfect ones.

These R32's make a very strong impression on those lucky enough to own them.
vw cars like these hold a special place in my heart, you can feel the quality by just watching it, good old days of vw
Yeah, I could feel the spirit of this car the whole time I had it in my possession.
I like VW too, but quality would be, if it would not rust at these seen places. My Golf 2 didnt look like this after 12 years. And 3b5 is now 20 years and no rost!
This one has 240,000 kms and has been Canadian winter driven its entire life. That's no small feat.

That Golf looked like a typically driven Canadian winter driven car. And the transformation was awesome. And I can’t say enough about the attention to incredibly painstaking details. Magnificent job.

@@RADGarage I had to replace the wipers on three of my customers vehicles because after all the work done they would streak after any rain. That's one of the first things I have learned to check when I do an assessment.

Haha! It's funny how much abuse I take from my neighbors when I have the garage door open during a project. "You're a freak!" he shouted.
Just goes to show that what you do isn’t for everyone 😆 it’s a well respected craft when you pay as much attention as you do. Time is everything in this trade. It becomes intimate in a sense and peaceful every time do my car. Not as detailed as you so keep up the amazing work and content 💥

I don’t know how I landed on this but wow!! Outstanding job. I think was mesmerized but the music and the cleaning haha!! I enjoy cleaning my car but hate...hate the carpets. I never seem to get everything off. There’s always some kind of pebble or lint or something.
Haha. Yeah carpets just never seem to get 100% clean. I can think they are perfect, then return a minute later and there is magically more stuff that requires vacuuming. It's like a cruel joke. It's nice to see UA-cam is spreading my videos around to a wider audience and attracting some new viewers. RΔD GΔRΔGE yeah unfortunately I do have a little rust forming at the driver side door at the bottom close to the valance and the wheel arch. Poor design on VW for water and drain location. I keep it touched up with some special United Grey Spray paint I found online. It’s color matched to my paint code. Got one little rust spec on my hatch by VW logo, but it’s super small like a ball point pin tip size. Otherwise all is good. Keep up the good work, loved the video, watched it from start to finish.

Kai -291 It's sitting on 18x8 BBS CHs as summers - these are my winters! My car was sitting at my apartment since the winter when COVID hit as I came back home in the meantime.. summers are going on as soon as the car lands here. You can follow the car at @ug_r32 on instagram!
I have a feeling this car will be back in my hands at some point down the road and I have a strong feeling it will have the sweet summers on and those rust bubbles will be well sorted.

Rick, if my passport hadn't been expired I would've drove up from the Gulf Coast of Alabama and let you coated my SQ5. I did a one-step the other day and it was easily 33 C, if not more. I was spent afterwards too. Great job and awesome video!

Ok, so per our chat last week. You lightly clayed the coating, did you try or do an iron remover step too? That gray was popping!!!
No iron remover. I just didn't see the need. I only use Iron-X on cars that spend a lot of time in heavy traffic. This car was coated a year ago and basically sat there. Just the lightest of clay and polish with Essence+ was all I felt it needed before applying a fresh top coat of the EXO.
My neighbors do think I'm a bit "problematic", I am sure!
At 24:14 I spotted a german license plate on the wall. Not sure if you know but its from the city of Essen which is located in the Ruhr Industrial Area in North Rhine Westphalia or as we call it Ruhrpott.
Essen is famous for its football team (Rot-Weiss Essen), its beer (Stauder Pils) and of course like all cities of the Ruhrpott its former coal and steel industry which played a huge role in the development of Germanys economy and wealth after WW2.
Just wanted to give you a little background to this ordinary rather unspecial license plate that I see hundreds of every day.

This is the only project in which I wasn't able to see the owner's reaction, since it was transported to Ontario. I spoke with the owner and he was very pleased, but not being able to see his reaction was the only part of this project that wasn't completely satisfying! I been washing my own car since 2015. Never went to car wash. I pre rinse my cars and wash off then snow foam using CG honey dew snow foam and then follow with clay bar if needed. I use same soapy water that use for car wash to clay. Save on clay lube or detail spray the follow with polish using CG polisher with meguair ultimate polish and then wipe with IPA and use seal&shine. Gets so much gloss and protection.

You done that iconic car justice, I have owned my r32 for 8 years and its the best car I have had and my daily is a mk6 golf gti again great cars , cant believe how good it came out just a pity the owner has not got that wing (front fender) replaced 😀
The owner and this car were separated due to the Covid situation, and when he was finally reunited with it, he noticed the corrosion had really spread. He's taking it back home and is committed to getting it all fixed. He just really wanted it detailed by me since the car was only one province away.

Great job! As a fellow coating installer. May I recommend that you wear an at least N95 mask when installing a coating. The fumes are really actually really hard on your lungs. I haven’t till recently but it really helps. Before I could barely smell anything for the rest of the day. Stay safe

Great question about the music. I discovered chillstep/ambient whatever you want to call it through my search for video music. I discovered a few artists early on that quickly became mainstays on my playlist and I have been an avid listener ever since. Some of them have granted me their permission to use their music with no strings attached. Incredibly talented and generous people.

40 degree summers and my garage is a legitimate hot box! But have Just insulated the garage door and will have some reverse cycle ducting put in there so that will hopefully help!

It is sad. It snuck up on the owner this first half of the year. I think he has a sliver of hope with the VW corrosion warranty, if not I know he is committed to saving it. I'm not too worried. Where there's a will, there's a way. (I just love those Christmas towels!)
