During this acrylic painting tutorial, you'll learn how to create a dramatic scene and blurred out background using color theory and blending to guide you through a soft gradient of colors. In this canvas painting for beginners, you'll then create piano keys in three easy steps: You’ll start by drawing an outline, then apply a simple base coat as a foundation, and then you’ll add highlights and shadows to give it form and dimension with a dramatic perspective element to make it look like a 3-D photograph. Brushes: 1/2 inch flat bristle (large), #5 round synthetic (medium), #1 round synthetic (small)
Acrylic Paint: titanium white, mars black, burnt umber (brown), fluorescent purple, burnt sienna
Other: #2 Pencil, palette, cup of water for washing brushes, paper towel for drying brushes

STEPS:
1. 1/2 inch bristle brush - Paint background with white, black and brown
2. pencil - Draw outline of white piano keys
3. #5 round brush - Paint shadows and highlights to white keys with black, brown, white and tan (made in step 1)
4. pencil - Draw outline of black keys
5. #5 round brush - Paint base coat for black keys with black
6. #5 round brush - Finish piano keys with black, brown, white and tan
7. pencil - Draw outline for fairies
8. #5 round brush - Paint base coat on fairies with black, brown and white
9. #5 round brush - Paint base coat on fairy dresses and wings with purple and white
10. #1 round brush - Finish fairy skin and hair with black, white, rust, and gray (made in step 8)
11. #5 round brush - Finish fairy wings and dresses with purple, black, white and light purple (made in step 9)
12. #1 round brush - Paint fairy dust with purple and white
13. #1 round brush - Sign with white

My mom is obsessed with fairies and every time you put out a fairy tutorial I follow it and make her a painting. Keep adding fairies!!! Maybe a fairy sitting on the moon or something with big mushrooms if you are ever feeling the mood!
