the engineer on this song said that Jimmy did this in one take and considers it to be the best solo ever done
To me, this solo is more better than the Starway to heaven
As a guitarist myself the vibrato, pauses, accents, and the guitar starting to growl made it even more incredible in one take. Page was not only one of the best, he was truly an artist.
This is the best and I play it on repeat very often.
When seeing them do songs such as this blew my mind!
everything Jimmy did was the best of its kind ever done.
I'm 64 now, and this still gets me going. My favorite Zeppelin track ever. Best Guitar, drums, vocals.
Kashmir
Mine too.
54 SAME THING!
21 and same here! their catalogue is phenomenal.
6:20 jimmy turned up plugged his guitar into an amp hed never seen before without touching any settings and ripped this improv solo out 1st go in 1 take!!!! the engineer who recorded it reckons its the best solo he ever heard in his life!
One of the things that is so special about this song is that Plant makes every word believable -- that this is coming straight from his heart ....
Exactly, his stuttering with the phrase beginning with "Let me tell..." is straight from his soul.
Page famously said that he thought Robert sang the blues the best of any white singer I might quibble with that (Steve Marriott of Humble Pie for example, or Joe Cocker) but Robert, for the blues specifically , is in the top 3 for me
He sounds like Janis, I always thought.
It's mad cos the album was released the day before she died
“Hi Olivia!” This is one of their best songs, imo.
I really appreciate Alivia's reactions - clearly the real deal, without exaggerated hype that many use to juice up their reactions! Well done!
I think the best part of this whole video was seeing the way you were enjoying Alivia's reactions! Now multiply that feeling by 50 years of loving this song and THEN see someone else hear it for the first time, and you'll have an idea of why we like your reaction vids so much, lol!
Agreed
OMG yes it’s 50 years! I suddenly feel about 108 instead of a mere 68! Saw Zep live in Manchester, England 🏴 in 1971 and this song was in the set list. The show was the loudest thing I have heard in my entire life to date and I’ve seen almost everyone you can think of.
Well said, spot on
@@malcshone4409 check out the line up for reading 1975 ,it's unreal ,we were there.
I am so happy that a new and younger generation feel the same about this awesome performance.
The entire bass line is played by John Paul Jones' feet using bass pedals, while he plays the Hammond organ.
Genius.
How cool it would be to hear this for the first time again. This song showed me what music actually should be. 50 years later, it's still one of my favorites.
Their '73 Madison Square Garden performance of this was outstanding! Well worth a watch. :)
Seconded!
Thirded
And on and on...
Studio of this is the best....the rest just go off topic
@@penderyn8794 I think the studio and the '73 MSG live version are great, Zeppelin are so good at concerts, especially at that time of their career
3:00 you can hear John Bonham's drum pedal squeak. The song remains the same and it never get old since 1978 for me.
I can hear it on the vinyl from way back in the day. Page says now he can hear it all over the place on albums.. (there are everal other examples) and it drives him crazy .. ummm.dude.. where ya bin?
@@silasmarner7586 I watch you almost every day ! You are one of the best reviewers on UA-cam !
It’s very audible at the beginning.
The live version of this one with the extended guitar solos is a must see!
I still remember the impact this album had on me, as a teenager. There was a lot of great music being produced. The creativity and artistry was phenomenal! So good!
This is God tier level for sure.
And it holds up against pretty well everything since. Epic.
The way Robert Plant sings this song reminds me of Janis Joplin singing Ball and Chain.
Great react! See y'all on the next one 🎧 💓 🎶
I was fortunate enough to see them both live at different times, they were awesome
A microcosm of why I watch these reactions .Silas as someone who knows watching Olivia who is about to find out .
You can really hear the influence of Janis Joplin on Plant's vocal style here...
My two favorite singers.
I had the same reaction 50 years ago. It was earth shattering, on the living room floor with the plastic wrapper from the album on the floor by my feet. I'm so happy you kids love the music, and know why it's special. BTW, I could be wrong about this, and people in the know can correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe Jimmy Page's guitar solo was one take, on a borrowed guitar. Even if it's folklore, I believe Jimmy Page could pull it off. Greatest band of all time! When you're in your 60's, you'll still love "Since I've Been Loving You." Cheers!
For more blues I think Olivia would love' I can't quit you' . For a long chillout 'The rain song', 'No quarter' or 'Ten years gone'.
The live versions of this and Whole Lotta Love from their '73 Madison Square Garden concert are totally worth going back for a re-react. And once you get to "The Song Remains the Same"/"Rain Song" from the Houses of Holy, check out those live performances too. Zeppelin performed them back-to-back, like merged together, which is how i'd recommended you do them. The vibe that flows from one to the next is too frickin' sweet
Yeah, what he said!
The live version of this is one of the greatest things I've ever seen!
Right with you on TSRTS/Rain Song.. The live version of No Quarter from the same MSG concert (and Houses of the Holy) also worth checking out.
100% agree Best Band that ever walked this earth
As a 17 year old, me and a few of my friends saw them in concert at MSG in New York back in 1973. I still have the ticket stub packed somewhere. Nice to see young people finding them!
I too was mindblown when first hearing this track... 52 years ago!!
I hope both of you watch the live version of this song…..face melting experience!
Girlfriends a keeper...she loves the Led. Love your reactions. Can't wait til tomorrow's reaction. 👍❤🤙
Since I’ve Been Loving You, a Blues Rock masterpiece. And then the guitar solo starts. And the vocals. You just keep going for a ride after that….
I always thought Led Zep was at their best with their Blues Songs.
Sounds like you really dug the blues foundation of the song. It brings so much emotion, both in the vocals and the guitar, and the rhythm section slowly builds and soars. This is an absolute masterpiece.
Song always chokes me up and gives me chills, this is my second favorite LZ song with the Rain Song being my favorite and which is another song that tears me up every single time I listen to it
Absolutely agree. Rain Song is by far one of the finest pieces of music in any genre in my opinion. Since I've Been Loving You is another ridiculously phenomenal song.
@@algoner4421 Pagey is just brilliant in creating and giving songs so much emotion that they just touch you emotionally and to think he did the solo in Since I've Been Loving You in one take in the studio is just mind-boggling
Our first dance at our wedding was to the Rain Song
@@gregquante8864 my wife (RIP) actually surprised me and came walking down the isle to the slow instrumental part in middle.
@@gregquante8864 Its a song that will bring you and your wife everlasting memories for sure 🙏❤
Dude,,,,your excitement for your girl to hear this,,,,is how we feel. 💥💥💥👍😎
My favorite blues song of all time and one of my favorite Led Zeppelin tunes. All four of them perform perfectly on this one
Love this song . It’s a heart breaker . Brings back memories. You aught to turn her on to the live version from the 1973 concert at Madison square garden. Guitar works crazy
Alivia Rocks! You two need to see the live version of this so g, from MSG 1973 and off the Song Remains the Same soundtrack, it is an amazing look at them at their prime peak and would blow you away! Enjoy. 🎵
For me the best blues track ever. Just my opinion but its still magical 52 years later.
9:00 MARK, AT LEAST 50 YEARS I'VE BEEN LISTENING TO THIS SONG AND THAT WAIL, THAT SCREAM, THAT PASSIONATE CRY THAT PLANT GIVES US GIVES ME GOOSEBUMPS STILL!!!!
You and me both!
Robert Plants best vocal imo.
And one of Page’s best solo’s.
I've been obsessed with Led Zeppelin for the last 40 years and IMHO the solo on this is wayyyyy better than that on Stairway to Heaven.
Solo better? Absolutely
Live Dude MSG 1973...if she thought the opening was great...WAIT until you watch this live! 😎👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏 HEY LADY IT IS CALLED THE BLUES...OY VEY!
Idk if you're going to react to all the final LZ albums, but in album 8 or 9 there's a song titled "Tea For One" you must listen to, if you like this song, that song is going to set you free !!
This is powerful music. I guess Led Zepp is the reason why I never really got into metal. Nothing sounds to me as heavy as Black Dog, Rock and Roll or How Many More Times. Glad to see young people enjoying these masterpieces! Keep the rock rocking!!
I love Olivia! She understands Zeppelin!! And seen this from a gen z generation makes me proud I'm generation x and have a daughter who is 23 and loves Zeppelin because of her dad!! Keep spreading the Zeppelin love love you guys!
beautiful reaction, kinda how I felt when I first heard it. Robert Plant's beyond human Vocals, Jimmie's amazing guitar, JPJ's deep and moving base and keyboards and Bonham's unbelievable drumming. Have their ever been 4 more talented guys in the same band, like EVER?? I don't think so long live Zep
Classic song by one of the very best.
Can only imagine hearing this for the first time again. Nice reaction guys.
Very cool lady, you got, Silas (a keeper) lol!
The most majestic song EVER.
Continue doing the classics withOlivia. Led zeppelin is forever
Love Your Reactions! Awesome Song!💞The Music draws You in 7 to 11 For Sure.
Welcome back Alivia! I've always maintained that Jimmy's guitar is a voice unto itself; you can hear the pleading and pain of heartache in the guitar as clear as in Robert's vocals and Silas, I noticed you were mouthing some of the lyrics! Clearly some of their songs have made an imprint on you and that's awesome!
The guitar is singing like a human being in emotional distress.
Love your reaction to one of my favourite songs ever. I appreciate your passion and joy. Thanks for that. I hope you react to more rock & metal, (classic & modern).
Alivia is awesome! She has some great reactions! Glad she digs Zeppelin!
I'm almost 60 and it does my heart good to see young people enjoying the music of my youth. Good shit, am I right?
Live version, pure magic on their live performances man
Gives me chills seeing a new generation find this amazing band. It is so powerful that Zeppelin touches the depths of your soul.
I love the way you guys appreciate the old school sound.. these guys are Rock God's and deserve every bit of your true, honest and respectful reaction.. great job.. Both of you.. love the channel...
Only the greatest rock band ever. The Stones and The Who know this that's why Keith Richards and Pete Townsend talk shit about Zeppelin.
🎸☮️💕
@@zeppelinfan9360 Word...
7pm to 11pm, the time they're on stage for. This is rock star blues, their lives were SO tough.
Hi Alivia ! Well done my dear ! WOW ! What a great song ! Cool reaction guys . Keep rock'in !!!!!!! PEACE !
That may be my all time studio version Led Zeppelin song! Love what they do to you Silas!
Silas, you and she should have watched the live MSG ‘73 version. That’s a real eye opener
Nah its better to listen the studio first.
@@Nichwar19 he’s already heard the studio. It would have been fun to see Alivia’s reaction to Plant “in the flesh” as it were. 😁
You gotta check this out live, it'll blow your minds!
I am enjoying watching you reacting to these songs that I remember listening to the first time when they first came out. Seems they still have the same impact all these many years later. One of my favorite Zeppelin songs - the guitar solo blows me away every time I hear it!
Zeppelin are The Gods Themselves - for me, this and Babe I'm Gonna Leave You are their crowning achievements, so many superb numbers, but nothing quite peaks those.
Chills? I've heard this song a thousand times...and I STILL get chills!
Top notch authentic reaction and a joy to watch you experience the music that I loved at your age. Alivia brings a lot of value to the channel and I hope you feature her more regularly. Agree with others here that you have to experience the live performances too - they will rock your world!
Really love you 2 enjoying the music of my Youth. Imagine how we felt at 15 when this came out .
I think the girl like the blues! Show her Steve Ray Vaughn & Double Trouble. If she likes guitar...she will go crazy!
I seen them 45 years ago today live. I appreciate you guys seeing the greatness of this band.
Great channel 👍
8:58 my favourite vocal note in history!
There are MANY good examples why Led Zeppelin, is my favourite Band and this is ONE, of them. Great Job! Alivia is a GREAT add! Jimmy Page and John Paul Jones were definitely older than you two, so don't feel pressure, long road ahead!
If you think this is good (and it is), you HAVE to check out the live version at Madison Square Garden. The thing with Led Zeppelin is that what you hear on the album version is not the same as what they do live, with longer versions, solos and some improvisation. By the looks on your faces when you hear Zeppelin, I know you'll be impressed. That whole concert is fire and I never understood how they could perform for that long at the level they did. Amazing.
I saw them perform this song live in concert in 1970.
Damn, you got a memory worth dying for, let me tell you!
Randomness of vocals? Oh hell, Alivia should LOVE Zep! 😁
You really should react to the live version of this at Maddison Square Garden 1975. One of the best live performances in rock history IMO.
1973. 😉
You guys need to do the live ones from the movie "The Song Remains the Same". You can find it here on UA-cam. It even has "Since I've Been Loving You" in it. It's uhhhhhhhh badass. :)~
Hola.
Awesome song and an outright amazing young couple, bless you both!!
"Open my front door, hear my back door slam!"
Robert's about to lose his worried mind.
Most of Led Zeppelin back then were your age, Robert Plant was only 20 belting out those vocals, Jimmy page a few years older with that great guitar, A young John Bonham without question the greatest rock drummer of all time, and John Paul Jones on keyboards and bass. He's the silent but deadly one lol that deservingly should be talked about way more then he is. They were all magic, when they first got together, they knew right away, this will be bigtime. Great reaction guys, get the Led out and keep it alive.
Hey guys, this song is 100% American Blues which Zepplelin was into from first. A lot of British artist couldn't wait to get their hands on material from blues artists in American!
This song, and 'In my time of dying' totally classic. Happy you are into this music.
I think the Hammond tone wheel Is probably one of the best sounds of the 60s and 70s it’s just so gorgeous thanks Michael
Gut and heart piercing performance - pure genius how they get so deeply under the skin of the emotion of this song. This really takes The Blues to another level. And you guys have great natural stank face at all the right moments. Happy you didn't pause it later in when the momentum building from the quiet opening demands 100% attention and floods the zone with amazing and unexpected transitions that requires the full context of what came before to be fully appreciated.
Zeppelin had one song that wasn't on any of their albums. It was on a smaller record we called 45's and the song is "Hey Hey what can I do"
Check it out; also I recommend the "Live" version of "Since I've been Loving You" from their live album "The song remains the same." The footage is from Madison Square Gardens 1973. Look for the security officer dazed by the performance at the end of the solo. It highlights the trance Zeppelin had on the crowd.
Also check out the almost 30 minute version of "Dazed and Confused" from this same album and be amazed by the rabbit hole you will happily slide down into!
Enjoy my friends 🎸☮️💕
Hey Hey What Can I Do is one good song .
Great reaction by Alivia. Since you guys love guitar (and who doesn't?), would like to see you react to some Stevie Ray Vaughan live.
Favourite Zeppelin song. Been listening to it since grade 3. I'm 61 now!!
These 2 Classic Progressive Rock (Prog. Rock) Songs Are PERFECT To React To With Alivia,, I Can Promise That You Will BOTH Love Them,,
Yes "Roundabout" & Emerson,, Lake & Palmer (ELP) "From The Beginning"..TRUST ME!!
Welcome to Led Zeppelin. Thank you for taking the time. Its yours now.
I am confident that you will have many people recommending that you do the live version of this from the 1973 MSG Live recording. imho The GOAT by the GOAT
Then, maybe, you should take a look at the performance from Celebration Day. For one night in 2007 (December 10th), Robert Plant , Jimmy Page, John-Paul Jones, with the assistance of Jason Bonham on drums (John Bonham's son), reformed for one live show in London.
A very similar track to this is a hidden gem on the album presence called tea for one.
One of THE BEST blues ever!!!!!!!!!!
Love you guys. More please! Thank you
Page double tracking at the 7:20 mark never fails to send chills, even after over 50 years of listening to this.
No jazz, no swing. Straight blues. Whiskey music. This song is a great demonstration of how to get in the pocket and stay right there. Restraint where you need it, turnt when you need that.
"Said I been cryiiiinnngg..." gets me every time!
It does my heart good to see these guys getting this music❤😊
I enjoyed "hanging out with you" while listening to this. Reminds me of sitting around listening to albums in the 70s. 👍
Absolutely the best blues/rock track ever...
The part she liked at the beginning of the song (0:47 on) is all string bending and single notes, played like a solo would be played. Never heard anyone get close to playing that little bit the same - even Page. Gets me every time.
For me, this is peak Zeppelin. Everyone shining their best shine on this track.
I can't wait until you guys discover Stevie Ray Vaughn. Check out his live version of Voodoo Child and/or Texas Flood.
Congrats on 2,000 subs!
I just discovered your channel and i can see that you've become hooked on my favourite band Led Zeppelin so i've subscribed.
Watched a couple reactions from you guys tonight.....great job on all of them! Appreciate ya Silas.....7am till 11pm is the work shift.
Thanks guys!
Nice reaction to a great song guys. I think what I love about this song is the emotion from all the instruments in the song. They each seem to convey a range of emotion someone being cheated on would feel. Awesome.
