Kingdom management combined with time limits of the quests is the single factor that made me quit Kingmaker even though I played it for like 70 hours. And because I haven't finished Kingmaker, I didn't feel like playing WotR because I felt I would be missing the proper order of progression (and the fact that WotR also has its own version of kingdom management was also a big factor). I'm glad they eased up the system in RT.
A bit late but I can tell you the crusade management isn't nearly as bad as Kingdom management. You don't want to rush it because spreading your crusade too thin can lead to massive and rapid losses but you don't really have a lot in the way of time limits so long as you aren't rushing the story.
