I freaking love playing Yoshino, my best game was 320k damage with 24 fires and 6 kills, she’s very much slept on and can be a hurdle of a ship to learn but not as bad as people think. She’s flexible when it comes to playing her, you could run a “lighthouse” with reload speed, or even a standard range build which is often what I choose because most battleships won’t hit me from 24kms successfully. It’s only a bad ship if the person has horrible situational awareness.

Yes and it has better dispersion than all the other large cruisers ...it's dispersion is in between the heavy cruisers and large cruisers....AP can easily cit cruisers even at 21.3 km max range u don't need to take range mod it has flatter arcs than even Zao...PQ does complain about overmatch on yoshino but every cruiser except for the Soviet ones face this issue ..it has improved heals as well as an extra heal
I remember back in the day when the Soviet BB line came out I had a special 21 point commander for this ship equipped with old IFHE and just made Kremlins cry. It was glorius and some of the most fun I ever had in this game. Ah the good old days!
There is another option for the montana when being charged down by the yoshino - single fire your guns, aim at the superstructure which is small and you essentiallly prevent the Yoshino from turning broadside. Your other option is to fire HE 12 16" guns firing HE with an HP advantage you're likely to win....
The Yoshino has consistently been one of my favorites for T10. You get more hits and kills than you’d think with the torps if you put them in the right spots. They provide a lot of laughs for me.
I have to credit my clan commander on teaching me how to citadel the Yoshino from a few angles while practicing or doing div drops with 3 to 5 divs. He had to stop running it do to me.
I've always been running heavy HE on my Azuma and Yoshino, you can get 12k HE salvos even with Azuma and it's as you said, since the ship wants to be palyed at mid to longer ranges and the base conceal is so good, you can easily get away with taking the skill :D And you get up from 5k to about 7k average damage per HE salvo at range 👍 It's really as you said, if you want to play a chill ship in randoms, just shooting shit, farming damage, Yoshino is great for that. If you want to make plays and have more battle impact, or want to play more aggressively in general, there's plenty better options for that ✌
I just got Napoli and i might get this ship next ! looks like fun and challenging, i don't concentrate on torps but mostly the guns and torps when it wont compromise my ship while playing in the Napoli.
@@blasterml Yoshino does more dammage if you play long range and angle it correct. It can be oneshotted if a carrier spots you while you are turning and ships shoot AP at you sideways. In air ship escort mode and some random games Napoli will play exellent meanwhile I feel the Yoshino with its 20km torps and amazing guns for long range strikes is more reliable for pure dammage. The Napoli is a fun and amazing ship if you like close range brawling and some kiting at medium range so its up to you what sounds best
For the Radioactive wasteland that is high tier SEA MM, Yoshino is easily a comfort pick. If you time your gamer turn right to kite, you can be in position as close to the cap as possible to help your DD and still have perfect position to throttle juke.
@@Obs13verthe passive long range meta isn’t a SEA thing anymore, unfortunately a global issue. It’s the direction WG want the game to go. BB don’t push because of HE spams, CV and sub. Cruisers don’t push because of overmatch. so most players just camp at spawn in high tier
People really underestimate yoshinos ability a lot and play it even farther back than BBs and because of that yoshino players don't influence the game in any way and in the end the ship gets rated so low...yoshino can and does play very effectively at 15 to 18 km ranges...it has very strong AP that will cit cruisers easily even at max range and will do good dmg to broadside BBs and even cit them at 10ish kms
The HE is strong but the AP can easily crit battleships aswell, and even if it doesn't you still do alot of damage. But AP and HE are incredible from this ship. Also not having just long range main gun, her torps are also 20 km which i get a few hit on battlleships sitting still far away thinking they are safe from DD and didn't expect to be torped.
Yoshino = Azuma with shima torps and sligtly better AA. It was one of my first coal ships (with Pommern) and is the best BB farming large cruiser at Tier 10 with the high HE alpha and fire chance, and when you have a DD overextending you can bonk them with the HE and great dispersion; and with cruisers at 15 km or less the AP smashes broadsides (310 mm guns). Finally, many people tend to forget the torps and find a nasty 20k surprise and a flood, and with some luck catch a DD with them, and as PQ said, these are more for zoning than for direct attacks.
If u r talking about yoshino then it can easily cit cruisers at its max range at 21.3 kms and does good dmg to BBs with AP ...I think people should not play at max range with it unless there's subs and cvs teasing it ..15 to 18 or 20 kms is the ideal range for yoshino to play
Slot 5 use rudder and slot 4 use propulsion, even if you like to use double rudder. Use this to open water long he/sap spamming ships like castilla, zao etc
Yoshino is kinda rough. Firepower absolutely. Ap is nice. Fire chance nice. But the large ship combined with large citadel and the huge amount of overmatch makes it tough. But that being said. That long range does help a ton.
Uh it's citadel is sloped it's not so easy to citadel I don't think u have looked at its armour but in the end it's a cruiser having cruiser armour which will get cit by 457s but it's not easy to cit at all

I got Yoshi B from a Black Friday sale & took range mod, Eye in the Sky spotter plane skill for her captain (Yamammoto, of course) so I can reach out pretty much to ANY player hiding in the read if spotted, with 29.7km range.!!!!!! Torps are shyte but meh, that range. Rear line fire spammer is her playstyle tbh
Hi pq, I’m really new to the game with about 300 battles. I’ve grinded to the Iowa for my first tier IX, but I just can’t get to grips with aiming. I either land too short or high, or under lead and over lead and it’s been the most frustrating experience. Can you give me some tips?

I feel as though Stalingrad can do everything Yoshino can, it has better fire chance (fires per minute), accuracy and shell arcs as well. but obviously yoou have worse conceal, no spotter and no hydro and torpedo's Stalingrad has much best cruiser AP in game and better armour
I mean, it's a smaller angry Yamato ship, with smaller Yamato armor scheme, with bloated anime tiddies hopes and dreams (azuma). If you play the Yamato well, you will break the game with the yoshino. The tops are just a nice bonus to have when letting a flank collapse (they need to pay dlc to unlock the cap)

The armour scheme is different instead of whole 27mm midsection you get 30mm midsection which I think is better but anyway choice is yours I would like to go for yoshino
Yoshino is good but can be hard to play. It mixes all Japanese tech lines into one package. Discount Yamato bridge and guns, shima torps, haru secondaries, a plane from Haku and accuracy similar to a bungo. Jack of all trades master of none

Atago is incredibly stealthy and very agile, which Yoshino isn't. Also, your random Ohio shoots some 18' shells into your deck: Yoshino gets overmatched and potentially citadeled, depending on the angle, but Atago doesn't, because 41mm deck. Atago can't stay at range farming non-stop, you need to lay ambushes, delete DDs with huge HE alpha and laserlike dispersion, kill light cruisers with AP. Atago playstyle revolves around vision control and seeking opportunities. Yoshi is more like a bigger Zao.
Simple answer is no... Overmatch ruined 9/10 heavy cruisers in the game.. Until they come up with something or adresses the fact most heavy cruisers arent heavy at all dont get a heavy cruiser
I have reached gold in ranked with yoshino only... It's a beast if you know how to play it well. It's brutal in close quarters.... I've been doing citadels on bb's

You should also give the Azuma a try! Compared to Yoshi, it gives up torpedoes but gains fast cooldown heals, making it surprisingly hard to kill.

It's a ship that requires patience and restraint to not get blapped. I much prefer Zao personally and feel it has more battle impact.

Hot take: 16 and 17 in gun BBs are the best at Tier 10. They make up for no overmatch by being more accurate.
