@@schinbone0 XD no, I am also the trash talker in chat, but am most of the time in the top third of the scoreboard XD But man, some players NEED some dumb words thrown at them :D
Be nice if they gave German battleships improved secondary accuracy or special saturation for their superstructure. It’d give them something to help keep them relevant in the current state of the game.
She’ll be good in asymm and the new alternate game mode. The big difference between Pommern and Iwami is captain availability. Lutgens just drops right in. I don’t have a secondary Japanese captain laying around for Iwami.
As for the Pommern, the full secondaries build is still the best option, followed by the hybrid secondaries, where you swap the 6th slot to range and the 3rd to accuracy. Unfortnately the Pommern cant defend herself against CVs. I played around 1000 games with her and got even the B version, but skipped her for the Mecklenburg, which is the very best German brawler for my own certain reasons. But brawling in the current T10 meta requires passion.... real passion. And knowledge. THEN it still works, every time, not only here and then. They key is knowledge how to survive and when it's time to push AND how to angle your ship very accurate. Well, 1000 games in Pommern and another 1000 with the Meckle and 4000 more in other brawling ships and you'll get tthe hang on it and how to win in the 60% range. But the learning curve is steep... very steep and frustrating.
Tirpitz has been my favorite ship since like 2016, and I finally picked up the Pommern about a month ago. Tirpitz vs T8 definitely feels better than Pommern vs T9, and the ship isn't particularly easy to play to a high level of effectiveness. That said, if you're good at German BBs then Pommern will fit right in to your port. Lutjens slots in with basically any build you've got on him and this thing prints credits even if you don't do particularly great. Definitely not the first or second ship one should buy, but if you've got extra coal lying around then it's worth picking up.
I got it for my birthday coupon.. I do terrible in it but when you get into pom pom pom range, it's a really fun ship.. I love my derpitz and secondary ships in general. In ranked its really good for coinflip pushing.. If you win the flank you smash it, especially with maniacs playing champagne in ranked.. If not you are kind of screwed Theres also the damned curse where the torpedo tubes get busted the very second you need them..
Maybe I’m just crazy, but I seem to do pretty well in German Battlecruisers with *specifically* a secondary build. It may not be in the “meta” but I have fun and do better than most it seems.
Do you take the 1st slot as reinforced secondaries - alot of your secondaries seem to get blown off - in a secondary build I think it's worth it (or even a hybrid)
There was this saturation bug that, as far as I know, was never fixed, that mostly affected German BBs: When a shell penetrated the hull, and then afterwards ricocheted while still remaining inside the hull, the damage was counted twice for that ship section, saturating it sooner, while still only dealing ordinary pen damage. This was relevant back in 2016 when German BBs were absolutely everywhere. Any idea if this was ever fixed, PQ?
Pommern is my third and most recent coal ship. 1st Marceau. 2nd Napoli. Wanted to brawl the Pomm. Now I'm sadface. Get paddled. A lot. What is a good Randoms build and playstyle for Pommern?
For some reason I loved the FDG. She treated me so well. I kept the guns firing racking up damage. Had fun. So Pommern is interesting to me for sure. Im just not sure I need another German brawler.
My Pommern just rocked its way through the tier 9 brawls. 3 vs 3! Yes please. 33 wins in 2 days or so of playing. Now the whole brawl is finished with 5 days to go.
Im stuck between Pommern, Ägir and Napoli, I know the latter most is the most popular choice, thoughts? I have both Günther Lütjens and Luigi Sansonetti.
Champagne thought that you should've yolo'd in from the start and instantly win the game because how OP the Pommern is. Nice positive thinking though :)
Why don't 380mm guns overmatch 27mm armor? Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't the calculation: 380/14 = 27.14? Is it because WG needs it to be more than 27 whole number wise?
module health is terrible in general. I was playing Preußen in ops a few days ago and a single DD shell completely destroyed a section of my secondaries...
I have been thinking about getting Pommern to have a credit grinder for T9 ranked but I'm rather hesitant as I already have Ruppchrect which from what I can see is just a better ship overall even if it doesn't make nearly as much as Pommern would.
If you want a t9 credit grinder, go with a ship like Azuma or Kearsarge. Azuma is a bit powercrept, but its range, accuracy, and excellent alpha makes it actually viable in supership tiers. Kearsarge is the same way, it has great range to play on the same field as well as having planes to spot and chase down ships that you can't reach. Ultimately though, I'd suggest getting Moskva. It's a t10 ship so in theory it makes less credits, but it has a much better credit multiplier than most t9s so you end up earning more. It has a relatively easy playstyle and great dpm too, making it easily able to earn 500-700k credits per game with green multipliers once you surpass just 70k damage.
@@davidpotts7116 I already have a lot of options as credit grinders including Alaska, Azuma, Moskva, Stalingrad, Yoshino, Bourgogne, and Agir so I'm not really looking for just a credit grinder in this case. I know Alaska is strong but I've tried it many times in ranked and it's not really a ship I'm that comfortable playing.
@@historyotaku if that’s the case then I’d just say save your coal for something else like Black or Halford. If you have enough and just want something immediately then I’d go Kearsarge, as I recommended before. Pommern is just a worse Rupprecht in nearly every way, so it’s definitely a ship you want to either save for the Santa containers or just buy when you have nothing else you want. As PQ also recommended, if you want something with a similar playstyle then go with the Iwami. The 100mm secondaries have 30mm of pen, so you don’t really need IFHE for them unless you really want it, plus the 410mm guns hit so damn hard. The torps, while not very stealthy, are also just a good way to ensure you take out someone as they’re faster than Pommern’s and deal as much damage as the Shima 20km torps. Iwami is also just so much more survivable, as while it doesn’t have as thick of armor plating it still has a turtleback armor scheme and the superstructure isn’t nearly as vulnerable.
@@davidpotts7116 My destroyer play is rather atrocious so unfortunately Black and Halford are kind of no-goes. Kearsarge I have given a lot of thought and it looks very strong but a 40-second reload plus NC shell velocity is really off-putting for me. I think I will get Iwami next though based on your and PQ's reccs though. I heard mixed reviews about it so I was kinda on the fence but it seems pretty solid for ranked Thank you.
@@historyotaku Iwami is just the kind of ship where some people like it, some people don't. It's mostly just because of the playstyle you need to adopt with it though, where you need to wait at least 10 minutes before pushing to preserve your hp. Iwami deletes things off the map at any range, but because of her having the same cheek citadel problem as Yamato, Musashi, and Izumo she can struggle when pushing in too early. It's a ship that ultimately takes more restraint than other secondary bbs, so you kind of have to play her like Rupprecht over FDG.
I think all battleships (and esp the German ones) should have enhanced damage saturation for their superstructure. Makes sense, and would really help. Also if torps alpha were nerfed and fires were a set value not percentage.
Well this would be a major nerf for most cruisers and other ships that depend of HE and DPM. Positioning and team play is key in this game, play intelligent and you won’t need any buffs. The solo push is not a tactic but simply a gamble.
Kurfürst has 6,700 HP in its superstructure which is about 50% more than its contemporaries like Montana which has 4,000. Kurfürst needs to take 13,400 damage to its superstructure before it saturates. Reducing the amount of HP in the superstructure would have two effects, the obvious is that the superstructure saturates faster, but also whenever you use a repair party you heal less superstructure damage, and you would need to take less damage before the superstructure is fully saturated again. The biggest reason this won't help the ship much is the same reason its superstructure has so much health. Kurfürst superstructure is massive, and it is an easy target to hit. Even if the compartment only had 1,000 HP and saturated immediately, it would still get targeted because 16.5% damage is better than ricocheting off the hull.
