This is my first coal ship. after you kill the dds, its hard to get value... Torps are good but its not a torp boat. Smoke farming is hard because i get blind fired. Shooting over islands is how i farm after dds are dead if i get someone to spot. I mostly just start spotting... If someone counter radars. I just get taken out lol.
I got this early, for steel. That was hard, as I mostly just play randoms. And for randoms...... something of a let-down. I felt it was a big mistake, until WG offered it for coal. That is when I lit myself on fire and jumped off the roof into traffic.
Got a Black Friday crate with the Black - a Black Black. Love to play it, esp when I’m feeling down about my play. Helps to make you feel like you know what you are doing lol
Long range slow torps seem to work very well in WoW. People forget after a bit that you may of sent them out, or that you can reach a long distance. I get a silly number of torp hits in my Italian cruisers just throwing them where people might go, or someone far away who thinks they are safe. 2 min later boom torp hits.
I love my black. Its a great cap bully and I've hit way more torps then I assumed I would. I find the antidote to the Black is DDs willing to push your smoke with good hydro.
Agree Groningen with a Dutch Santa captain is like partying with Goldmember's drunk uncle captaining your ship so Gron is #1 DD at tier 9 for me, maybe period. But if you want something to speed run ranked with, Black and Alaska are my favorites. Alaska B at Black Friday sale is probably the only ship in the game I'd recommend a new player spend money on. Hey PQ, any chance you could keep a running leader board for coal and steel ships? After you review each one you reassess where it is on that leader board. I have a butt load of coal right now and I'm hanging out waiting for your leader board show.
Not a farming ship at all or a high damage ship. But it is a very high impact ship that helps you and your team win games. Good enough in randoms but just rules ranked, convoy escort and airship escort-not to mention epicenter. The problem is enemy radar and lingering in smoke with all of the super fast torps now in the game. But quite frankly, that is a problem for any DD in the game. The smoke-radar combo makes it a DD hunter and cap boss. Killing DDs and taking caps is really the most important job for any dd. I got it late but think it is worth every nugget of coal. Coal is easy to come by anyways. Not a flanking boat at all. Get caught on a flank by a gunboat with your radar and smoke down and you are pretty much dead. It is not fast and does not have speed boost. A gunboat can just run it down.
I suggest you get better with DDs before getting a premium. Go down the US line for more balanced ships, or the Japanese line for torps (gunboat is also good), but dont invest money for something you might not enjoy because of lack of experience
Though if you still want a premium DD, I think you should go for the Kidd. It's a Fletcher at tier 8 that has a heal, so it's more forgiving - though just one torpedo rack.
@@fehmisualp1732 Cossack is extremely strong. Crazy good in ranked. That DD is meant to knife fight and cap contest. Marceau is very strong but has kind of a tough play style for a newer DD player. Like said US line is balanced. Jap line is strong torpedo or strong DPM gunboat. The french line is VERY strong once learned how to play them. Teaches you how to open water gun boat. That play style is very fun and unique. Learn a balanced DD line first, then if you enjoy it and get decent. I would do a more gunboat line next. The jap line is easier as it has smoke and farms more vs the french line that teaches you how to open water and use speed and maneuvering to dodge. I will say as someone who plays a ton of french DD in random to ranked to in clan battles. A good DD player who is good in a french DD is extremely dangerous. Can literally carry a match.
It seems difficult to see this ship, I was confused by the very slow speed of the torpedo, and again with guns, this is not for fighting, when you meet a destroyer ship like the Elbing, or Merceu or Vampire, I'm sure you will lose

Of the two, I would suggest Black. Black is similar to a lot of American DDs, so you can just use a captain from your tech tree line. Neustrashimy is a stealthy torp boat with a super heal, which is unique, but it doesn't mesh well with other Soviet DD captains. Then again, maybe the uniqueness is a selling point.
I have the Black and its ok but the torps are as slow as molasses. Why WG does not offer two types of torps like on lower Tier American DDs, i will never know. I got so frustrated trying to use those torps i quit playing the DD. The ship looks great though.
They have very low detection, so just send them in the direction of enemies or down channels to get hits. Don't specifically try to hit individual ships as you will likely miss. The slow torps are also to balance out the radar. If it had Fletcher torps it'd make Fletcher completely powercrept and be way too OP. Black is a DD killer, it's balanced by being weaker against cruisers and BBs.

I purchased black as my first coal ship and while it has its good games here and there I honestly don't play it very much and wish I ended up getting something else. If you're a ranked dd type of player get it as it is a very solid ship other than that not worth it.
I would argue t9 facing super ships is far more manageable than t7s facing t9s, many t7 lines have yet to get their key "identity" gimmicks online making them just incomplete ships (both american cruiser lines lack radar for instance, many DDs come into their own with t8 onward). This is easily fixed by WG simply updating lower tiers but....wheres the money in that guys? have a loot box and pay us 200 bux for another new ship /s

I got it for steel when the armory was introduced. 9k, I think was the price back then. My first steel ship and I still don't regret the investment.
I have once fallen to black torps. Thought I had waited long enough to turn but didn't lol. Similar can happen with some German torps

I dont remember gonnigen being a stealship, its a replacement for the fryland, which if I remember was always a coal ship.
