You still have hair because what you're brushing/combing out when you detangle is pretty much entirely shed hair, not strands that you're pulling out of your scalp.
Lol I dry detangle my hair all what u do put dry on tiny section then use a natural detangle to spray in it with a low porosity grease oil cream sometimes 12 or all 3 depend weightless
Homemade flaxseed gel can untangle your hair in less than 5 minutes, Try it sis you'll love it and it's way cheaper. Come from ends to root in seconds. Doesn't matter the texture of hair it works amazingly.
I use flaxseed gel to do my flexirods set and always used to detangle first and then use the gel. Now I know I can just use it at the beginning and it'll make the whole process a lot easier. Thanks!
My long hair is sectioned & loosely braided into six braids every night before bed. I cover with satin bonnet. Saves me the trouble of detangling before styling. I never allow my hair to get matted - & my days are just as busy as the next person.

What if the thick curly hair is knotted in knots ? I tried wetting it with conditioner on my little one & it only created it to get harder and knot more.

Aussie moist shampoo is so good you can detangle with it. After I use assuie conditioner to deep condition. 30 minutes all together

That’s a fairy knot. Your have to cut those out with proper hair scissors. Wet the hair with water and then conditioner before ever trying to detangle

I do the same but with conditioner in the shower, I separate and then use a detangling brush, current favorite brush is made by wetbrush
