I went to my hairdresser and showed them this video for a cut, and they said it wouldn't suit me, so I did myself at home, and you weren't lying. My hair is so naturally defined now, I barely need hair cream or anything, for that fact.
The way you do things is some kind of magical combo of refinement and carelessness, sophistication and utilitarianism and it’s so refreshing and genuinely helpful. We have the same hair and mine usually looks pretty good, but I’ve recently realized that putting in an extra 5 min goes a very long way. This couldn’t have come at a better time
@@samchapmanmakeup YES!! I gave myself a shag haircut first, and then used your tips to style it, and I am BLOWN AWAY by how wavy my hair is now. I feel like this is the haircut/look my hair has been crying out for.
This is the first video I have ever seen that describes my hair type identically! I've watched countless videos and BAM out of nowhere, seemingly your video shows up! Thank you!!!! Obviously I'm subscribing!!!!!
literally, I've been watching Sam for a long time and had no clue we had literally the exact same hair lmfao, hair type, current colour and cut to a tee. actually insane
I have this hair and I’ve found for me to cut down on frizz is to actually part my hair on the OPPOSITE side of what I want for styling. Let it dry. The weight of the hair under the opposite side of the part kind of presses the frizz out. The exposed side of the part gets frizzy by being open to the air and movement. Once fully dry, flip hair to the opposite side for the part and hair is much smoother.
I have the same type of hair. I stopped going to the hairdresser's because no matter what i asked for, layers and thinning (my hair gets thick and weighted down) i never get what i ask for. I tell them i dont straighten my hair, dont blow dry, i natural dry as much as i can. I always end up with a cut for straight hair. First wash after my cut. I end up looking like no country for old men. Mortified Thank you for all the tips. Lovely hair cut.
You're my hair twin! Curly in the neck, wavy and drying almost smooth on top. Gets easily weighed down, despite being very thick and dense and healthy. It just does not absorb product and especially oils (natural or synthetic). And I also need an insane amount of layers and thinning for my hair to look good. Which most hairdressers just will not give you, even if you ask for it. I'm so grateful for the whole 'wolfcut' trend. Now I can finally put a name on what I want.
I’m so glad UA-cam suggested your video! I remember seeing you online ages ago when I was more into makeup. This is amazing! I’m in my 40’s now and I love this content 💖
I’m just gobsmacked right now. This is my hair type. I feel like I finally have a name for it. My hair is very thick and very heavy, and I can easily style it straight, but I want to enjoy the waves. Now to find the courage to execute this cut!
So I have had this cut for a year now, and still haven't known how to style it. I can't thank you enough for sharing this. After a few decades I finally know how to support my wavy hair. The final result looks amazing and sophisticated ! 😍 Thanks Sam
Identified myself with the issues immediately. 😂 now will stop even bloody looking at it when it air dries 😅 great collection of advice. And I do my own wolf cut so it even more relatable. And since I swapped to wolf cut, my hair improved, too. A cut that works with the hair type is also key I think. No need to fight it.
You just literally SOLVED my hair conondrum that I've been struggling with for YEARS. I have this exact hair type and I've never seen anyone actually talk about and address this type where there is waves underneath and basically almost straight hair on top. I so WISH I could have a shag haircut but I have alopecia and the layers would probably expose my hair loss spots, sigh..... anyway, I WILL try this some time either way! Also, you look amazing!! Love your eye makeup as well.
As a woman who is NOT a lesbian but just giving an honest woman to woman observation---can we take a moment to reflect on how actually BEAUTIFUL this woman is?😁
I'm black...our hair is even more complicated but doesn't need to be when you just do the basics. weekly shampoo, use a deep conditioner/hair mask, use a leave-in conditioner, detangle with a wide tooth comb, put it in two French braids and get your trims every 3 months/seasonally. that's it! Most straight-haired people can skip the leave-in conditioner and can use a brush instead of a comb.
FINALLY someone with my exact hair. I cannot thank you enough!!! I was able to look up the cut and do it myself. THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! Getting my hair to do something I want has been a life long struggle! Finally something that works!!
You are the first person I have ever seen do exactly the same as what I do with my hair and get exactly the same result it always dries nice and definitely all about the cut and the push up for that rocker curl is what I call mine. I'm also a hairdresser so I know how to get the cut right ❤
You should keep this hairstyle for ever and ever and ever ....the perfect combination natural but with style and unique edge! It suits you in such a fantastic way. Recently discovered your channel and am so glad. sometimes the algorithms really come together.
Since I haven't come across someone with hair like mine before , I always thought that I was the only one who has this "weird" hair. I was equally shocked and delighted when you started describing your hair and I realized that is my hair described to a tee. Thank you for this video and all advice and tips. It's exactly what I was looking for; easy, effortless but it looks great ❤
I was a teenager in the 80s and this exact technique was called scrunching. Thanks for reminding me because I have the exact same hair texture and I'm so happy I FINALLY found a UA-camr who does.
This is the type of my hair, I’ve found that very recently in my life, im 42! I do exactly the same routine. Few days before I’ve been putting my head down when my hair is almost dry and spray some curly hair product and it looks more fluffy and I receive a lot of compliments :)
Lovely haircut. I think that’s a huge part of being able to allow your hair to air dry and not look like trash. I quite like Hairstory’s Undressed spray for a refresh and textured air dry!
Thank you so much for the video! I have exactly the same hair type. I'm 59 and when I was younger that was exactly how my hair was. I have been trying to get back to it with the a proper cut, but now I have a lot more info. Awesome!!!!
Hi there. I have hair like you and I used to do this method and it does work. The only thing I was missing was bounce. Thank you for the video! Yes, she has finely chiseled features. I'm answering other poster. :) God bless...XO
I related to you so much when you said that overloading your hair with product doesn't help. I used to apply gel or mousse and my hair would feel so product-y. Now I just use a leave-in conditioner and scrunch and bam! good hair
I have totally tried exactly what you do with your hair... same haircut as well. My natural hair texture is curly frizzy, wavy frizzy, thick, coarse, color treated, frizzy hair!!! I grew up in the 1960's & 70's. We had nothing as far as product's went, in those years to help my awful hair. I literally and seriously hated my hair. It was a nightmare! People would come and say, you are so lucky to have your naturally curly hair. I wanted to scream, and say you have no idea what you are talking about! However, I never said anything, because I was brought up to be a respectful young lady. Thank goodness that there is help with this kind of hair texture now. It takes a lot of work to get it smooth, but I can achieve it now. I'm happy that girls and women of today, don't have to go through what I had to go through. When I was raising my children, my daughter would ask me "mom how did you do it with no products?" I would reply honestly, and tell her that it was a difficult situation.
In the 80’s London brought out lots of products that did this. Then dupes arrived in the US but today it’s hard to find a pomade that doesn’t also set. Happy to have found this!
I'm black...people with straight fine to medium, low-density hair: just brush it....never brush dry wavy, curly, coily or kinky hair....unless you want an afro. while I'm over hair with kinky-coily-penspring high density but ultra fine hair....my hair would break and the comb.... so glad my trichologists taught me to comb my hair while damp with leave-in conditioner!!
My hair is this texture, have always found air drying the best for my hair type. You are always so beautiful , effortless and sophisticated. Thank you for this vid! Want a fridge again now.. ❤
This is very similar to my hair and hair cut. My hairdresser is excellent and understands very well about cutting hair to enhance it's natural wave etc. I don't use any products in my hair, limited amount of conditioner and only on the sides and ends, no heat drying, natural drying only and lots of scrunching when it is damp. So just about everything in this video. Its been the best result for my hair in my entire life and I've been around for quite a few decades.
I recently ( 2weeks ago) embraced my sometimes wavy sometimes curly hair and a curly hair expert cut into it sooooo much! This has made me feel much better about styling mine and taming frizz. PLEASE share your divine makeup look from this video! It is amazing ❤
You changed everything for me with this video. I live in the desert and even though it’s quite obviously dry as hell here, my hair looked like I spent a week at the ocean, just full of life and so happy. I just moved my bob into a shag and this video was magically suggested to me by UA-cam
frizz is friction and/or hair that is too dry so it's swelling out to catch the humidity/moisture in the air. If you have any wave or coil or kink avoid friction in your hair. Straight medium hair can handle the friction more a bit of product smooths it back down. coarse or fine hair is a nightmare to tame without make it in weighed down. for dry hair, try a weekly hair mask, a daily leave-in conditioner and/or an anti-humidity product.
That's why you need topping like silicone serum or oil. It will make shield over hair because what is making frizz is your hair with open pores is sinking water from air.
Same! Nice with your eyeliner. It took me 40 years to realise this to get my waves to do this - NOOOO combing or no towel drying. I leave in my Acid Blonde Redkin Conditioner to tame my highlight damage. John Frieda used to work well pre-bleach days and cheap x
I love this! I have hair just like yours. A little wavy, a little curly, fine and prone to frizz on top. I even cut my own hair in a very similar shape to you just longer. I will definitely be trying this product and your techniques. Thank you!!
Yes, I have the same kind of hair, and I agree it is hard to style. If you put too much product, it will become heavy! Thanks, I will try that product to see if I can style it better.
Finally someone addressing exactly my hair and my hair problems😊😍! I also got a shag/ wolfcut some months ago and the hairdresser had curly hair herself and I feel like she was the first to cut away enough hair 😀. I didn’t have bangs though because she basically talked me out of them and I‘m not sure it looks flattering on me, but basically, it’s a lot of work and obviously needs to be recut soon. But then again a wolfcut looks coolest with bangs. 😅 The only thing I noticed that bothered me a little with this haircut was, ponytails and anything that can keep your hair out of your face, is not going to work anymore so keep that in mind. Anyway, thanks for the tips Sam, I‘m going to try it exactly like you showed even if my wolfcut is mostly grown out in a way.
Ok, the hair is amazing for sure. My straight hair would love to be naturally wavy! But beyond the hair, is anyone else dying to know how she did her eye makeup for this video!! Tutorial pretty please!!!🙏🏼
Thankyou Sam, I am blonde n have same hairstyle n texture of hair, this has been really helpful huge thanks ❤ as most products weigh it down and next day ends up greasy mess, also you look like Helena Christenson.
Good Day. For decades I have bought everything under the Sun to stop exactly what was happening to your hair. Tools, OTC products, Wearing it up, hair wraps to cover the Frizz and Good luck if there is Humidity or a frizzy weather element no pun intended. I bought this cream just to see once again. I have for decades drying my hair exactly as shown however the too and side frizz would adventualy show. **** THIS product WORKS perfectly and actually lasts as stated the following day with a spray and crunch you're good to go. Thank you so very much. I have donated all my tools and unopened mega boxes of hair products. I now only have this. I will be stocking up in Fear it will be discontinued. I am so grateful to finally have the hair I have been praying for only for 35 years. My hair changed after my Son's birth and it's been a struggle since. Love your Shorts as well and have learned a lot. Bravo. 🌟💜❣️
I have this exact hair type. The top part is kind of straight and then underneath I have defined ringlets. My old old old hairdresser said it’s a genetic mixup in our bodies that gives us that hair. Idk how true that is but it is interesting to consider. I recently got a very short pixie cut and it has made my life so much easier styling and frizz wise. I have so much texture in my pixie without any work and the frizz is minimal.
SO VERY HAPPY I came across your channel. Oh how I needed this product for decades. I was using Bumble and nope didn't work. I was weary because I have been looking for ever. I bought 1 did exactly what you said and it has worked beautifully.!!!! Needless to say I returned and bought 3 more just in case. If anyone has this problem with their hair I can attest that this product 100% works. The following day or day 3 you can spritz your hair lightly with water and add THIS product, mold your hair and it stays in place, no Frizz, fly away and you DO NOT NEED Hairspray for a hold. This ☝️ is the Holy Grail to stop the Frizz War on our hair. I also spoke with a friend with longer hair that frizzes out and it works on her hair as well. Thank you Sam for such a Wonderful long overdue product that actually works, does not damage the hair and it's the gift for Wolf cuts that keeps on giving. 2 months into the product and will be using it FOREVER. Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays. **** This is wonderfully priced as well and would make a great Christmas present 🎁 for your GF's with a Frizz issue. 🧡
Finally someone with my kind of hair. Thanks so much. Really appreciate the tutorial. Now I know when to leave my hair alone... I've been overdoing and losing the wave to poof. And, with my white hair, I can easily look like a Q-Tip. Again, thank you!
I have the same type of hair. When it’s wet, I apply a lot of MOP TOP curling custard. I scrunch it into my hair and don’t touch it till it’s dry. Once it’s dry, the hair is crispy. I just take a towel and scrunch out the crunch. This makes my hair conditioned and smooth. No frizz.
Two years ago, when I turned 55 and had my menopause, I got my butt-length hair cut into a shag. This is what happened--this is my hair routine--except I don't use any product at all. I finally have the hair I wanted when I was sixteen and got perms to achieve. LOL. I'm going to try with some product, just to play. Thank you.
My longer lengths are much more curly, and healthier looking. The shorter my hair is cut, the straighter and frizzier it gets. It's usually the opposite, at least with the people I know. I just stick with long layers. A long wolf cut, looks like a long lion mane. Works.
You are a lifesaver, Sam Chapman. I had pretty much given up wearing my hair down because of that combo of frizzy on top -- with no amount of product really helping. And, the combo of curlers (yes I still use hot curlers) or curling iron is tough on your hair. Great tips here, especially as we go into the cooler months of autumn in the States. I do go out with my hair damp pretty regularly in California, harder to do when the temps drop or in the rain. Yes, we have rain in all part of California. I know you've been to LA, but even there it rains! Thanks for the advice, as always to many of your wavy-haired followers.
Oh my goodness Sam, you are STUNNING!! You are getting better with age. You are so Helena Christensen at her prime. Absolutely drop dead gorgeous. Have you had botox in your masseters? ( Hope that isn't rude to ask..) Great video xo
Your hair is so like mine , the style, the colour and the wave\frizz combo. It's humidity that does for me, it looks fine initially but after an hour or so out and about on a humid or damp day then it's frizzy hell.
this video was amazing for me as i’ve got exactly the same textured hair as you and i have tried everything and every product so i will be trying this tequnique today !
What I have learned recently with our type of hair is: ends need friends. Waves/curls need other hair to form a wave or curl. Had a cut in April and the dresser cut my layers too short on the top so the bottom hair does not have much left. My hair is fine and wavy. Since April I have not had a good hairday and wearing it in a bun 😞
Hi Sam! Thanks so much for this (as wavy/frizzy haired woman myself) I totally agree with everything you said. Less is more 🙌🏻 I have a wavy bob with a fringe and like to let my had dry naturally too, plus I’m low maintenance or maybe lazy? 😅 thanks for this, especially the shampoo rec 👍🏻 much love xx

The only thing I noticed that bothered me a little with this haircut was, ponytails and anything that can keep your hair out of your face, is not going to work anymore so keep that in mind.
Anyway, thanks for the tips Sam, I‘m going to try it exactly like you showed even if my wolfcut is mostly grown out in a way.
I didnt know you were making videos still! You are stunning
Ok, the hair is amazing for sure. My straight hair would love to be naturally wavy! But beyond the hair, is anyone else dying to know how she did her eye makeup for this video!! Tutorial pretty please!!!🙏🏼
It’s coming..
I love your haircut!
I’m just going to take your picture into my hairdresser and pray ❤
Bravo. 🌟💜❣️
Not a minute in and …wait that’s my hair type! Thank you ❤
I have this exact hair type.
Exactly my hair issues, thank you for addressing it 🙏🏻
Finally someone with my kind of hair. Thanks so much. Really appreciate the tutorial. Now I know when to leave my hair alone... I've been overdoing and losing the wave to poof. And, with my white hair, I can easily look like a Q-Tip. Again, thank you!
holy grail of wavy and curly hair DO NOT TOUCH IT UNTIL IT DRIES or you will create frizz.
The haircut is divine. You look gorgeous!
You look so much like Helena Christensen circa 1990s! 😍
No frizz.
Such gorgeous eyes!
Thank you.
I have your hair type exactly. I never know how to care for it. Thank you!!
Tried it, WOW. Beautiful hair day with water refresh second day! Thank you!
Salt spray and a little bit of matt hair wax works for me, and i have similar hair, a little longer) (i have fine wavy hair)
I love your hair cut!!
My longer lengths are much more curly, and healthier looking. The shorter my hair is cut, the straighter and frizzier it gets. It's usually the opposite, at least with the people I know. I just stick with long layers. A long wolf cut, looks like a long lion mane. Works.
Could you please do a video of how you did this makeup ? Thank you it looks incredible 🌷🌷🌷
Yess
Your hair is beautiful and so are you. I will try that technique
You are stunning! 😮
Spot on! I wish I had seen this 40 years earlier…
As a gardener I couldn't agree more on the trusty tools 🤣❤
I really like this hair on you ❤
Oh my goodness Sam, you are STUNNING!! You are getting better with age. You are so Helena Christensen at her prime. Absolutely drop dead gorgeous. Have you had botox in your masseters? ( Hope that isn't rude to ask..) Great video xo
beautiful hair and beautiful hairstyle.
I think this video just changed my life.
Perfect timing!!!! I have the same hair type and showed my hairdresser a similar style!! Thank you! ❤
Your hair is so like mine , the style, the colour and the wave\frizz combo. It's humidity that does for me, it looks fine initially but after an hour or so out and about on a humid or damp day then it's frizzy hell.
But your eyes!!! Beautiful!! 🤩
That's a really fantastic haircut!
this video was amazing for me as i’ve got exactly the same textured hair as you and i have tried everything and every product so i will be trying this tequnique today !
THANK YOU, SAM!!! ❤🎉
I was passing youtube videos untill I saw your thumbnail and first thing I was thinkig about was " who is thisss gorgeousssssssss lady"
Wow this haircut is so good on you
Best hair ever!!! love it
