Hell yeah, I agree completely with your remarks. I rode my brothers 153 orca for a few runs in mammoth and I was sold. Just ordered mine two days ago and it arrives next Wednesday 🤟🏻
Angry snowboarder is THE only review I trust
Same dude
1000% 🤘🤘🏼🤘🏿
Yesss! I’ve been waiting for you to make this review as you make the best snowboard reviews 🤙 and I want to buy the Orca 😏

Just got my Orca 159 this week, can’t wait to take Big Shamu on the mountain this season!
Just don't let Steve-o try to free the beast.
Just pulled the trigger on a 153. 2nd board I've bought based on recommendation from Avran.
Raving about a Libtech? Must be good.
Gots mine 159. Cannot wait.
Just picked up a 153, can't wait for snow! 175lbs size 12.5 6'1".
how are your 12.5 boots with this board
@@sekwah1k143 I've got size 12 K2 Thraxis which have the same footprint as most size 13 Burton's. No issues with toe drag at all, it's a wide board, so wide that my large boot size is a benefit for once
Just took my 153 through New Zealand and was an absolute killer!

Killer orca
Where did you find powder to ride in nz?
PAGE what weight are you ?
Pre ordered my 153 in May and it showed up this past Friday. Putting a set up Rome D.O.D bindings on it and lets get some. This Orca will reside at Jay peak VT. Angry Snowboarder you should come to Vermont and play at Jay Peak. If you like the woods and powder Jay is the place to be. We would welcome you anytime man...
Would there be too much overlap in owning both the Archetype and Orca? Or could they serve different purposes in a quiver?
Thanks Angry. You are the best 🤟
One of my all time fav boards!
Do you prefer the 159 over the 153?
@@sbespn3820 I could easily ride either or, but I gravitate towards the 159 for flotation in deeper powder.
Andreas Schubert I ride a bit of pow but love a groomer goldmember or orca, I see you flying on yours how does it handle the speed??
@@lordfarquar69 the board naturally handles fairly well at speed because of its wider over all width, plus an aggressive magnetraction edge.
@@lordfarquar69 I find that it handles great at speed because of its over all wider platform, and magnetraction edges. The magnetraction gives you alot of confidence in icy conditions.
Great review. Thanks
Will you be reviewing the GNu Finest anytime soon? Going to be picking up an Orca this winter!
Love it dog great reviews!!
Got to try the 2019 153 for half a day other half optimistic 154 2019(one of my faves)
The orca exceeded my expectations. I thought I didn’t like c2x until I tried that board. Great through chop, quick response and got the ski shot out of turns. Loved it will get the 2020
Question... Has anyone noticed that 2020 version seems softer than the 2019 model?
Got the late release 156 and I love it. This board just rips in all conditions, pow, groomers, hard pack, chunder and even ice.
What are your specs? Weight/ hight/ boot size?
190lbs 5'10" 10.5
I am the same except weight is 180. Got the 153. This is an awesome board!
I rode Baker last weekend. 16" of pow on the heavy side. It stayed on top so nice and effortlessly while others were sinking. It got rode out pretty fast. Parking lots were full at 10:00 and record number of people were on the hill. The board held on good in the chunder and hard pack and was very maneuverable. Had to really be aware with all the other people. Can't wait to ride a weekday with no one around.
@@sbeutler i got the same specs but bought a 153. Should i go and change it?
holy shit! yes, you guys are already at it again with reviews! Sweet fuck, getting my jalapano chips and binge watching. Are you finally gonne do the new YES greats review?
Yes, it'll be up by Monday. Had some technical issues, Bubbles spilled some swish on it.
Out of curiosity which bindings would you recommend pairing with this deck? I heard you say you rode these with the Indy's in the video, after riding it with those would you keep it the same? Thanks in advance for all the work you guys put in
Any mid flexing all mountain binding will do you really.
Just picked this board up today. Riding it tomorrow. Pairing it with some union flite pros. Think I’ll need to eventually get some all mountain style bindings?
Nah I think that should pair OK with it unless you feel it won't match your personal style.
Hey Avran,
I'm currently riding a 2016 K2 Ultra Dream 161 as my daily (50ish days a season, living in Saas-Fee, Swiss alps) - it's pretty much the perfect board for me, apart from the waist width that's a tad too slim. I'm a US10 and I get some pretty heavy toe and heel drag when I'm laying a trench... Unfortunately they don't make it anymore and I can't find a used one anywhere otherwise I'd switch to a 159W.
Would you say the orca is relatively comparable? I know the camber profiles are different but from what you're describing it sounds like they ride relatively similar... If not, what's currently on the market that matches up? I'm a huge fan of flat boards with early rise, flat kick, or whatever other mumbo jumbo marketing a brand can come up with.
Look forward to hearing from you, thanks!
Nope, 2 different boards. Those closest you'll find to that board would be the Marhar Lumberjack but it's going to be drastically wider.
Love the reviews man! 6'1, 170, Size 10.5 boots ... going to Japan this season. 153 or 156?
53.
Hey Angry, do you have a favorite camber profile and what is it if you do?
Hi, love your reviews! I went with a gnu headspace for my freestyle board with the help of your review and agree with everything you said about it. Now I'm looking at the orca for powder etc. I'm 5'10 ,150lbs and wear size 10.5 boots. Would you recommend the 150 or 153? I do like stability for speed etc but it seems there is a jump in waist width and the 153 might feel slow edge to edge especially since I'm not too heavy . Your thoughts?
You have the boot length for the added width, get the 53.
@@AngrySnowboarder awesome thanks!
Picked up my orca for powder and carving this winter. Does anyone have any recommendations for a twin board to do the rest (side hits, butters, jumps, few rails and general playful riding)? looking at maybe a ride twinpig
Capita Asymulator.
Already preordered the 153!
@G Evo.com has some 53's available for pre-order, wont ship til november 15th tho, hope this helps.
@G Hahaha! Just spreading the love man. Enjoy it brotha, stoked on mine too!!!
Huge fan of your channel! I’m 5’9 and 160lbs. Sizing on this board is tricky. What size Orca do you recommend?
50 if you want it more playful and more nimble, 53 for more charging.
I'm 5'9 155ish with a size 10.5 boot. Was looking at either the 153 or the 150. Not a huge difference in waist width or nose/tail width (.2cm) between the two but for someone who likes hitting bigger jumps and drops into powder, will I notice a difference in float or landing gear/stability at all? Or is the only difference going to be the maneuverability in tight spots?
53 will give more stability for sure you just have more surface area to land on.
5'8" 170-180 lb sz 11 boot. Would you steer towards the 147 vs the 153? Thank you for all of your great videos and reviews, and for putting up with all of our sizing questions!
47 if you're in the trees more and doing a lot of lower angle pow. 53 if you're riding more wide open and steeper stuff.
Chris Wadatz they also sell a 150 now...
What did you end up getting?
Hey man, love your videos! Thanks! I am 5’11” 200lbs size 12 boot. Should I get the 153 or the 156?
Dealers choice.
SUPER DOA or Orca for all mountain carving, little park riding, little powder mostly hard packed groomers?
Well the Orca is a powder board, the Super DOA is not. That should be pretty obvious when looking at these two.
Thanks for the review Angry! I am interested in the board. I hope that the season 2020/2021 is not already over. What size would you recommend? I am 6'25, 190-195lbs and size 10.5 boot.
153
@@AngrySnowboarder Thanks again! 153 because of the weight and doesn't matter the height with this board?
Does the board know your height when it uses the physics of gravity?
Is there gonna be too much overlap between this and the Mercury/Slush slasher in my quiver?
Yes and no. Between the Mercury and this no, it's between the Slush Slasher and this that you would notice it. But in my opinion Mercury should be every day board, Orca pow board, Slush slasher party boarding spring laps.
Great video! Thinking about buying a 56. If I bought the Union Falcor bindings and Adidas Lexicon board boots, would they pair well flex wise for tackling icy/hard pack steep slopes as well as half slush cruisin?
Should.
@@AngrySnowboarder hell yeah. Thank you.
Wondering about sizing. Currently ride an old 156 burton custom x.
I’m 5’9 and 160lbs. Would you do a 153 or 150? Would the 150 have enough float?
Love your videos! Thank you for the help. Goes a long way.
Get the 50 you'll have plenty of float. It's going to be a completely different ride than what you're used to.
Big time help. Thank you!
Hey man, you are the only one to ask!
Your opinion matters a lot.
I'm 6'3, 227 lbs boot size: 11.5
Which one I should get ?
Thank you,
Best Regards from Lithuania / Norway
Jet ski club Stavanger
Do you mean what size? If so 59.
Great review. I've been riding this board hard all season. The Orca REALLY excels in the deep powder. I actually like it more than my Burton fish at this point in the deep stuff, and that's saying something. And it's also incredible (as you say in your video) in the crud and fast groomers. Totally agree there. It's a hell of a quiver board. I also ride a Burton Custom X and Burton Skeleton key regularly. This became my go-to board this year and it's been great. Totally recommend it if you are an expert rider. Not a good board for greenies.
Hey Thomas - great anecdote - just picked up an Orca 156 and wanted to know what size you got and how much you down-sized? Thanks
@@toddanderson4644 I picked up a 159, but I have big feet and weigh 200lbs so I needed the bigger, wider board. The Orca does kick arse in the deep stuff, and it floats great since it's so wide. One issue I did not mention earlier is that the turn initiation is a bit slower with the Orca. It's not much, but it does make a different in the really tight glades.
@@toddanderson4644 hows that 56 going for you and what's your weight ? ... I'm considering either a 56 or 53 ...I'm size 10.5 boot ...175cm tall and 192lbs with my gear all on
Would you consider this board as one to just add to a quiver? Looking for a main board that I can ride pretty much the entire season. Looks awesome considering I'm mostly trying to find powder pockets and hitting glades. Only worry is it looks like it can't really ride switch which I enjoy, or hit the park every once in a while
It can handle the park if need be and if you can ride switch it can ride switch. I wouldn't make it a main one board quiver but it's doable.
@@AngrySnowboarder I've been watching the other reviews, definitely appreciate your takes. Any other boards you think were a fun ride (orca-ish) but might be better for a one board quiver?
Hey guys,
I got a 153 this year. I’m 5’10” and about 190-195 pounds. Riding on the East Coast mostly. I’ve been riding Arbor Hemlock bindings since last year and was wondering what your opinion would be for throwing them on the Orca? Enough binding? If not, what would you suggest instead? Thanks in advance.
You're fine.
What do you think about the burton deep thinker vs orca ? Do you have a favorite?
I have a burton process camber still a lot of fun all over the Mountain but it's mostly for park.
So I want something for powder trees carving and going fast.
What's your opinion?
Both.
Hyped for this board but also worried. I picked up the 147 and I'm 5'7 160lbs with size 7 or 7.5 boots depending on the brand. Do you think this board its too wide for me? Help please and thank you.
In the 47 no because you're not fighting the length. It will take a little more effort to get it on edge but if you're a strong rider you'll be fine.
Hey bud, your reviews are awesome, best in the biz! I’ve got an opportunity to buy a 2020, 147. I’m an advanced rider, 160lbs w 8.5 boots. Is it too small or should I grab it?
No that's ideal size for your dimensions unless you're riding a ton of steep wide open pow then a 150 would be a better option. I say go for it.
Thank you for the awesome review. Could you provide a size recommendation for: 6’6”, 190lb, size 13 boot? I’m a tall one.
53
Definitely the 159
Hey mate last question sorry.
For niseko all rounder but mostly powder and tree runs and doing back bowl peaks etc with groom runs and hitting natural features occasional butter would you choose orca, superpig or is there another board you have in mind? Sleepless nights thinking. Thanks!!
Get the Orca and go shred.
@@AngrySnowboarder Thank youuu
Capita Kazu all day. 160 is a beast
I'm sure its quite a different board but which would be a better pow quiver board in your opinion, this or the Mind Expander? Seems ME more surfy due to the rocker. It's just the fact that they both can be sized down and be nimble (like the Yes Optimistic also). Guess I gotta test them out before deciding! It seems like to me I'd be after the 153 Orca / 154 Mind Expander (6'2 150lbs / Size 11 boots)
Be wary about downsizing on the Mind Expander that taper will get you. If you're talking straight pow riding it's the ME, but overall resort pow it's the Orca.
@@AngrySnowboarder Ohh right good to know! Taper will be danger for larger boot sizes I assume? I did just speak to someone who had tried riding the 158 in Japan (Board Archive from Whistler) and he said he's a similar weight to me and that that size was good for pow. But yeah.. I'll try to test them both out and proceed with caution. Thanks! Also lusting after a Hovercraft Splitboard
Hello Arvan,
Last time you board size reccommentadion was absolute on point.
What side do you reccommend for the Orca?
Weight: 155 lbs (70kg)
Height: 5,7 feet (174 cm)
Boot: Size 9 US
Want to use it for carving (icy runs here) and chasing pow (i rarely see realy big mountains so about tree runner)
Btw, will u review the 2021 Orca?
Eventually I'll get to reviewing it. Kind of waiting on snow right now. I think for what you're looking for and describing to me either a 147 or a 150 will work for. 50 will be better at carving and give more float in pow, but the 47 will be more nimble in the trees. So just ask yourself where it's going to get the most use and go from there.
@@AngrySnowboarder thanks, you are awsome

Hi Angry, I would like to refine my question.
Most of the time i'm on the slopes.
Some carving, of the lips, small jumps, “charging”, never the park ... and if i'm lucky and there's powder i'm going pow.
Is it still the 47 or should I go down to the 44?
Is it the Orca or would you recommend some other boards?
Whats up angry. Im 5 8, 150 lbs. 11.5 size boot. I have a 148 warpig that I rode in deep powder. Was fun but I was looking for more stability and float. I can get a used 153 orca. Will that work or should I wait to get 153? thanx
150lb am riding a 148 warpig, should I get a 148 orca instead in order to smile MORE on slop?! ~ thanks
Great review! Thinking about getting one for myself from this! Only problem is I can't decide which size should I get. :/ I'm 176cm ( around 5'7/5'8 ) and 70kg ( about 154). Can someone help this poor fella out ?
150.
Looking for something to tackle said icy moguls of death, including toboggan-related side skidding...and my Angus just really doesn't fit in a lot of places. 6’2”/220, you think I can get away with a 153 or should I go 156? Or do you like another board for those conditions better if I might ask?
56
@@AngrySnowboarder ordered, thanks..!
5'9" 150 lbs. All mountain/pow trees 147 or 150? Thanks, your reviews rock.
I'd get the 47.
I just got my hands on the 159 Evil x Orca board. Should I get Union Stratas or Atlas? Gonna be for pow, trees and groomers.
Depends on what you want, more lateral flex and surfy then strata. Hard charging and ripping carves Atlas.
I weigh 180 size 11 boot. What size do you recommend?
If you could have 1 board to ride this season would it be the orca or the YES Hybrid ?
Hybrid.
Does the 2021 version with C2X and horsepower construction. Ride much differently compared to previous versions, that had OP+ construction?
It's going to be stiffer.
would you recommend the 147 for someone that weighs 70 kg (154lbs)?? What's your opinion about the 147?
Yes. You saw the review.
Hi AngrySB. would the Orca 2021 156x267 be fine for my 5´11 170lb Boot11.5?
Or should I be on the 153x267? Would be my one quiver board. Thanks for the reviews.

Hey Angry, i'm torn between Orca and Jones Hovercraft. i ride north east ice , but go out west twice a season. what would you recommend ? 190lbs 6'0'' and 10us boot
Orca for sure it'll have better edge hold for the east.

You can definitely get away with it.
My local shop is out of the 153 but 150 still available. I’m 6’ and 180 so was hoping for your advice on whether to go the 150 or find a 153 elsewhere. For use in Japan in the powder, among the trees and also some groomers. Thanks in advance

The issue is going to be those hooves of yours fitting on the 53.
@@AngrySnowboarder Ah, I have a Burton Imperial pair, whose footprint is smaller. So their outer size might be 12 or 11.5. I'm just worried about being too tall for the 153.
If you get to choose between the Orca and the TRS, what do you suggest for the North East ice snowboarding?
Neither.
@1 11 Don't know you made a real vague question. Could give you a 1000 other choices.
A couple of questions
1)for the latest models, what is the flex like compared to the lib rig?
2)how do they handle groomers/would it be pretty good for typical east coast conditions/the days when we don’t get a dump?
3)How does it handle speed?
1. Softer.
2. Can you ride a groomer? Yes? Then there you go it'll be fine.
3. It gets a little chattery.

Orca then.
@@AngrySnowboarder cheers Angry. Hope you're keeping safe of this Corona crap.
Hi angry, how would you compare this board to the niche pyre? Thanks
It's a little more playful between the feet, floats better on the Pyre but not by much.
I’m a girl - weigh 125 lbs, 5 foot 5, size 7 boots .. they have a 144 cm - do you think it would be a good powder board option for me ? Is it super stiff??
Well with a name like Erika I'd hope you're a girl, otherwise you probably got teased a lot as a boy as a kid. It's not super stiff, the board is playful enough torsionally and that camber profile adds to that. The issue I'd have is your 7 boot might be a bit small on that 44 with the 25.5 waist which means it's probably closer to 26 at the insert packs. You may be a bit sluggish edge to edge when you get on firmer snow.
Size recommendation? 180 lbs, 5' 10", boot size: size 10.5
53.
Question. I am 5'9" 176lbs 9.5 foot. What size would you recommend? 153 or 156. What are the pro/ cons of either size. Thanks
I'd do the 53. So the 53 will better fit your weight be nimble how you want still have float. 56 better edge hold, slower in trees, way more float in wide open.
@@AngrySnowboarder Hi Avran .... at what weight range would you be moving to a 56 ? As I dont need this for trees as I've already got a tree board for Japan .. I'm wanting this for magnetraction in firm icey new Zealand alpine conditions...but also a crud and thunder buster that floats ... I'm about 192lbs with all my gears ...maybe a small backpack on if in Japan.
Hi Avran, I was gifted a 159cm 2019 orca and am pretty conflicted over whether i should return it and pay more (in tax and increased price) to get a smaller (156?) 2020 orca. I have been riding a 157cm DC board that is just too narrow. I am 177 lbs, 11.5 boots, 6'3". Do you think the 3cm will make a signifigant enough difference in the board's nimbleness to merit the price increase?
I do, but doesn't matter what I think you're the one with it and you have to warrant if a cost increase is worth it to you.
Thank you so much for your response. I think it is worth it to me. Do you agree the 156 is the right size over the 153?
@@SA1upsb You could go either way honestly it really comes down to if you want it more playful or more stable. More playful 53 for sure, more stable 56 definitely.
I'm 5'9" and 225lbs. I just ordered a 159 and then realized that there is tha 156. Should I switch it? I've been riding a Jones Aviator 160w
Your call on that.
Hey im in need if a little help im 6,4/6,5 at 220 with size 12 boot what would u recommend?? love the content man.
156.
Would you think the 2019 and 2020 are more of a quiver killer compared to the 2021??
I think it's a better board.
Been thinking about this for groomers POW and trees. I’m 6’, 220lb, size 10 boots. 153 or 156. Planning on pairing with mala vitas. Also have you tried phantom 2.0 on any boards? Thanks
56 for sure. no.
Angry Snowboarder thanks. Love the videos
I ended up with a 159, primarily for powder. I'm 220 and 10.5 boots. I was worried that I might not be big enough, but it's a great fit, and from what I've seen the 159 is cheaper in lots of spots.
Spencer Stiglets I got the 156 set of mala vitas on their way now too.
Got my 159 Ready ... Never had new board before... Do i need to wax it for the start of season or is good to go from box...
Its good to go, enjoi ya lucky b
I would wax it.
Hey man. Loved the review. Just ordered a 159. Im 220 lbs and boot size US13, did I order too big or spot on?
Read through the comments, i see a 56 may be better
Kind of depends if you're doing more wide open charging you'll be fine, might be a bit sluggish in really tight trees.
Angry Snowboarder thanks heaps man 🤙🏼 bit of both so I’m happy with what I ordered yewww!
Speaking of 'alternative freeride' boards, ones that you can use pretty much everywhere from sunrise to sundown, how you would guys compare this with the Hometown Hero?, different boards but aiming at the same part of the market and the same type of riders maybe?
Hometown Hero is a lot stiffer and more designed for a day on the east coast in Vermont. They ride entirely different.
Thanks. I don't think it is too stiff but, that may well be due to the fact that I learn to ride(and use for a season) on a stiffness 8 board. I just was wondering if these two would overlap eachother too much. If they do, I'd rather then take some cheap(-ish) park board and try to learn/develop/increase technique.
Cheers,
Well neither of them are really park boards so...
I’m 5’11 175lb. Riding all over the mountain. What size would you suggest now that they have rolled out more size options. The 147 or 150? Thanks
50.
@@AngrySnowboarder Right on. Thanks
