Im looking for a unit just to use for the map/GPS, and plan on mounting to my snowmobile for ice fishing. Trying to upgrade from my older handheld GPS. Do you feel the 43CV would be a good one to look at? Also wondering, on the 43SV, if I am driving out on the ice (or water), will it record the route as I travel, and then is it easy to reverse the route to follow it back exactly the way i came out? Tahoe YakFisher, Mostly I do some small lakes kayak fishing in NJ. Not a contest fisherman. Sometimes I fish the NJ area intercoastal bays and water way. Based on your having the 43CV, can it show the near offshore water (let's say less than 1 mile off the ocean shoreline)? I am not looking for wrecks 5 miles off shore, but close to the shore. My local marine dealership has the 44CV, with Bluewater charts, but not a 43CV unit that I can look at myself.
I cannot answer that question as I have only had it on a couple of lakes around me, sorry. I have had good luck with Garmin's tech line, I have called a couple times and spoke to a tech both times.
