Paul your GarminTutorial is unmatched, I hope Garmin is compensating you for your time in making these videos. Thank You I wonder if you could give me some advice? I have only had my Vivid 7cv for a few months and have not used it more than a few times. I recently dropped a trolling motor in about 6 foot of gator infested water so I'm not gonna jump in to find it lol. Could you take a few minutes to give me what you think would be my best setting for locating it. It is probably lying among some weeds and I believe the bottom is pretty soft. Thanks
Fishfinder may help, but if you know the exact spot, I would set up a hook and some rope and drag for it. Settings wise probably turn the gain up higher, possible to see it on CV as well. Motor likely has alot of metal on it, so that should be a stronger return. Then again, I hate gators, so I would just cut my loss :/

I haven't seen any videos of this unit being used for ice fishing , is it able to ? also is it capable of seeing two separate jig lines if you have two people fishing in the shanty ?
I use the Clear Vu 4 for ice fishing with the traditional + clear vu screen and sometimes the flasher when doing micro jigging. I'm Mostly targeting pike. Can see lots of perch and other baitfish + my lure on the traditional but when a big pike shows up i get clear heavy lines on the clear vu setting. So fish ID is your issue, it does not guarantee a fish is there, it only takes the screen info it believes could be a fish and shows the icon. So what happens in when out of the water sometimes you will get noise and interference on the fish finder still...it just thinks this may be a fish...so it shows the icon. Hope this helps.
Great info as always! I have a Striker 4 that I use between a 14 foot jon boat and 10 foot plastic pontoon. I have been looking at the Vivid series and was wondering if I could run the Striker 4 with the transducer at the back of the boat and running the Vivid with the transducer mounted on the front at the same time or would I be better off using one for each boat.
You can run 2 fish finders at the same time...heck I am running 3 now on my boat. Now IMO changing out 2 fishfinders between boats would be a bit of a pain...again my opinion (changing 1 is not to bad) I would either run one on each boat, or look at prices for a spare transducer and power cables from Garmin...prewire each boat then just switch the main units around. With a 14' and 10' boat, you won't get a ton of improvement from running 2 since the covered distance is not that wide...plus if the sonar cones intersect it could cause interference issues. (If set to same frequencies) A bit lengthy, but hope it sheds some light on the pros and cons
Thanks for your info. I was wondering about the interference. Think I go with just one unit on each and get the Vivid for my reservoir boat, the jon boat. Thanks again
I just purchased this. It may be a dumb question, but does the transducer have to be connected in order to change its settings in Clear Vu? I only get the clear vu tabs if the simulator mode is on
The best 2 ways to make changes would be with the transducer attached, or in Sim mode. The transducer must be attached to get the tab without Sim mode.
Great video! I just bought the Striker 4 CV with GT20 transducer and after taking it out for the first time the traditional worked great however the CV wouldn't work for me. @1Cast 1Fish can I ask you a no related question? I've been asked to be a co angler for a tournament in February. Do the catches I catch as a co angler count towards the boaters catches? Or do mine only count as a co angler? I'm asking because I want to understand the rules and ethics before fishing this way, I've only fished in kayak and Jon boat derbies until now.
Most tournaments have a set of written rules available for participants. However every tournament I have fished, the coangler is separated from the boater as far as fish and prizes. Now to be sure, some tournaments work with 2 person teams, meaning the best 5 from both of you will be weighed and it is up to you to split winnings.
Off the topic question but why would my mph leave the screen everytime I cut it off? It's still on in the settings but doesn't show until I reset to factory settings.
@1Cast1Fish the only thing that doesn't come back up is the speed? Time, water temp, debth, and Compas don't go anywhere just the speed disappeares when I cut it off. I can't figure it out.
Yes, I prefer the traditional sonar for finding the thermocline...just remember all lakes don't have a thermocline so you may be looking for nothing. However....turn the gain up and it should look like a line of noise in the water column.
Que alguien lo suba pero traducido al español en México y en otros de América del Sur hablamos el español y tenemos esos aparatos Así que no entendemos nada si son en inglés
Why hasn't fishfinder manufacturers made a dual transducer fishfinder yet. Yes, two transducers, mounted on left and right side of the boat, then with some software magic join the two transducers together to make a 3D picture. So then you can tell the depth of the fish, which way its swimming, how far it is in any direction. A function it will have is the user can with a water proof gimble move around on the floor bed, look up towards the boat, scan around and see" the fish. The transducers work like two doppler antennas, just like those used to track and find stolen cars that have trackers in them. It's all about the signal returning to the transducers, depending on where the fish is, each ping will return at different times, thus creating a 3D map.
Considering the rapid advancement in tech for fishing sonar, and where we are now with live scope and such, this or something similar may b ethe next frontier.

Ensure that it not selected to hide on your screen overlays
@1Cast1Fish the only thing that doesn't come back up is the speed? Time, water temp, debth, and Compas don't go anywhere just the speed disappeares when I cut it off. I can't figure it out.
That is a bit odd, not sure, but I still would suspect a setting issue of some typoe
@@pharris1015mine dies the same.
@@warofwrath I still haven't figured it out.
I have the Striker Plus 4CV, is this the same as the Striker Vivid 4CV? I do have the CV capabilities.
So the only difference is the Vivid has additional color pallet choices to chose from.

@@1Cast1Fish Thanks, I came across that video a few days ago.
can it show the thermocline?
Yes, I prefer the traditional sonar for finding the thermocline...just remember all lakes don't have a thermocline so you may be looking for nothing. However....turn the gain up and it should look like a line of noise in the water column.
Can you have fish icons?
Yes you can

How do you change the temp from Celsius to Fahrenheit?

What is a bait cluster?
Same as a bait ball....just a large congregation of bait in a close tight area
How about prawn?
I have no experience with prawns, so I can not honestly answer
Garmin actually sucks when comparing on how easy is to use luky fish finder.
Glad you found my videos helpful
Que alguien lo suba pero traducido al español en México y en otros de América del Sur hablamos el español y tenemos esos aparatos Así que no entendemos nada si son en inglés
Ojalá pudiera traducirlos todos, y algún día espero hacer esto. Gracias por comentar

I like traditional better.
For some applications, Yes traditional is a much better choice.
@@1Cast1Fish is that like the lawrance live sonar ?
@@jesusblessthesecommentsamen Live Sonar would be more comparable to the Garmin LiveScope...very different form Clear Vu
@@1Cast1Fish ok thanks just learnt they have that now. Cheers
PLEASE stop saying "KAY-hertz" kHz is pronounced "Kilo-Hertz".
Making me cringe watching it!
LOL...sorry
Wow, so now you are asking for money..not just subscribe..Ebay pays you very well when u have sufficient people watching..
