So this is the episode I tell all reactors that Flint is my favorite character of all time. 🤣🤣 He's really complex and you'll come to understand him much better in time, although he will always live in that morally gray area. Flint said that timing was everything for his plan to work and I believe it could have worked but stupid Dufrense messed up the timing. Season 2 is my favorite season of the series. Can't wait to see y'all get into it.
Agreed. Flint is one of the best written characters in any genre or medium. It’s a travesty that Toby Stephens didn’t win an Emmy for it. He’s absolutely sublime. I love seeing reactors’ journey with Flint.
@@TaraLynJoseph Flint takes you on a epic adventure, that's for sure. First time watching I also hated him at this point. All that changed in season 2. Now I'm ride or die for Flint.
The thing about Flint is that he's so, _so good_ at what he does. The Walrus really wasn't going to go down either way. Everything we saw onscreen happened exactly as Flint said it would, but the crew moving forward with trying to mutiny him at that absolute worst possible moment botched the timing of it. His attack plan was genuinely brilliant. He knew exactly what needed to happen for it to work, and nobody else on the crew was good enough at doing Flint's job to even be able to tell that they needed to follow through with that plan or they'd go down. Dufrense prioritizes mutinying Flint over taking the course of action that would save the ship.
People blame Eleanor yet it was Hornigold not long ago who was forcing her to lift the ban on Vane and Vane just stabbed him in the back and took his forte.
I know Flint killed Gates here and we all love Gates but......... Flint did read the tactical situation perfectly and probably would have pulled off the fight with the Man of War. All he needed was for Gates and the crew to listen to him for those few seconds when they had the element of surprise on their side. Flint is single minded and unwavering in his vision for Nassau. Flint is the best written character on TV.
lol watching Flint is always an emotional rollercoaster. You want to hate him it's tough, keep in mind however that no one in Nassau is good. They're pirates at the end of the day and have all done horrible things.
What i love about Flint: He's a extremely complex character, you only come to understand how incredible he is after you watch the next seasons, everything he does have a reason (if you look through his side of view), in the beginning it's easy to hate him, you think he's the perfect villain but he's not, i'll try to stop here because if i keep going i might spoil everything lmao.
How do Timber Reels. Black Sails is one of my favourite shows ever. You two are doing a good job of reacting, and analysing it. And, yeah, there is a lot of good stuff coming up. Look forward to your perspective of it. All the best.
I did just that! Just likeBlack Sails, it moves really quick! Far more sympathetic to the British, not pirates… The criss-cross double crossing… But somehow done “honorably.” Or thinking that most ALL of our pirate folklore comes from this one book (and then Black Sails references TI’s source in later seasons!) @Timber. Pick up a copy that uses the original period artwork and font. It’s the best.
Congratulations! You just made it through what most consider the worst season of Black Sails. I'm so excited to see you continue forward as every episode will become better then the last. Definitely agree with you that the writers intentionally made nearly every character gray in their morality. Though some are worse then others, you feel inclined to root for one, or all of them despite their many flaws. That said, it's a show about pirates, the scourge of the world. P.S. Disagree that Gates' story was a threat to Flint. More so, just his interpretation of what a life at sea back then boiled down to (love that scene). RIP Jannes Eiselen (Dufresne #1)
Have you guys ever considered making a patreon for full length reactions like Nikki and Steven do? I found you through them and would absolutely love being able to sync up the full episode to watch with you guys especially with a show like Black Sails.
Hey! That is something that Amber and I have talked about. It might be something that we do in the future. Right now it's super busy with work, youtube and our Twitch channels. Hopefully in the future it's something that we can do! - Tim
I love this episode. I like gates but he wasn’t being smart 🤣 If you think he just pushed billie off of a ledge why would you tell him you were planning to rat him out and? So dumb

@@charleyMD17 ahah I started to love Flint in Ep 1 and it stayed that way every single episode 😂

Dufresne thought that Flint would just give up, and they could turn back to Nassau. He really underestimated Flint's determination.
People blame Eleanor yet it was Hornigold not long ago who was forcing her to lift the ban on Vane and Vane just stabbed him in the back and took his forte.
The irony is that Hornigold probably would've admired that move from Vane if it had been done to anyone other than him. 🤣
'why is that the end?!!' - LoL We've all felt that pain 😃
At least you didn't have to wait a whole year for the next season! 😮💨
This is where the shows takes off imo. Love it. Thanks for the reactions guys!

19:21 the entire reaction, “I really like him/her. I hope we get to see more of them. 🖤
I fully recommend reading Treasure Island right after watching this series, it adds so much.
