Well, to be fair, is it spoilers when the ending to the story was written over 100 years back? Is it a spoiler to say Darth Vader is luke's father? Mind you, I've been careful too. I just always wonder, if someone is watching Spartacus, but a friend and I are talking about the slave rebelions, is it a spoiler if we talk about the one involving Spartacus? Or is it just history? If someone mention's the fate of X or Y pirate, and they are historical figures, is it really a spoiler or is it something the showrunners expect you to know? Pretty sure part of the promotion was "this is a prequel to treasure island", which would mean they assumed people know how the story ends.
I was pissed by Gates dying cause he was such a great character, I thought he would be Flint's sidekick for a long time. But at that same time we love shows like this because they have the balls to do this.

The reason Flint wants to sequester a portion of the treasure is because he's wants to secure the defenses of the island with more guns for the fort, etc. He's thinking big picture.
I loved Gates but, keep in mind, he had every intention of having Flint killed (or doing it himself) by the time they got back to Nassau. At this point in the story you don't know why Flint is so driven, and unyielding, in his quest but that opens up soon enough. A lot (A LOT) can be derived from his statement about the pardon. He refuses to accept the pardon because he feels betrayed and vilified and won't accept blame for what he's become. The second season allows us to find out about the betrayal and how much he really was wronged. Such great characters on this show. Cheers.

Gates wasn't gonna go through with the plan to kill Flint after the Urca hunt though, in that scene he said to Flint he was gonna arrange a boat for him and Miranda to escape. So it's even more shitty that Flint killed him despite Gates still looking out for him. But as you said Flint had to do it even though Gates was his friend.
This is by far the best season finale of any type of TV show that's not popular but that finale was cool though the ending on the beach perfect season 2 is going to be awesome for you does battle scenes you should check out the behind-the-scenes stuff once you're done with the show that shows you how they do it how they make the ships look so real and some parts it's very interesting that was a bloody mess and they started open and firing on the ships and stuff and blowing Parts the ship off cannonballs Flint intriguing character I was shocked when he ate what he did to Gates your face reaction to some of the stuff with awesome perfect reaction
Man of War is a type of ship, basically that eras battleship. Bigger and with more cannons than a common pirate ship. You can outrun them most of the time but if you get caught in their fire you're fucked.
Yes. Attacking an 18th century battleship manned by a professional crew is a guaranteed loss. It didn’t break a sweat destroying both pirate ships at the same time. The plan really never had a chance.
Well, I know there's no honor among thieves, but I guess they do have some kind of code of conduct. Jack Rackham and Amne Bonny killing their own crew counts as a violation, no matter why they did it.
Damn it's hard to comment on this there's just so much you don't know yet. I will say this i was a good idea for Flint to want to take the crews money and put it somewhere safe, you'll find out later why the really should not be trusted with it.

Yes things are rolling now. But you are in For a great treat the upcoming seasons. Some of the best writing ever in TV. I honestly think that very few can ever approach it much less trump it. Deadwood and The Wire are the only two that can be argued for my taste. I am sure there are differing opinions that would be interesting.
I jam out to the drums at the end of the theme as well. Not going to lie I originally disliked the show because of the lead actor and his character in die another day. He did such a great job that every time this and Spartacus would air I would skip the show, but another youtube channel suggested it after me telling my thoughts about the actress who plays max. I'm glad I own all 4 seasons and will finish it soon as I just finished season 2.
There is a good reason why the series started out slow . . . it is a SERIAL DRAMA. It had to create its setting, narrative and characters. A good writer should not do all of t his by rushing the story.
From the premiere I was more into Flint's rivals than him, so I could never forgive Gates' murder. I don't think he cares about the crew, his actions show he'll sacrifice any of them.

Look at it this way - season 1 is essentially ALL set-up. Season 2 is ALL pay-off.
